About This Listing
Porta Sabbionara apartments were built just five years ago on a street that leads directly to the shore and beach of Koum Kapi. Situated only 50 meters from the sea front, the apartments are walking distance from the center of the city and the Old Venetian port. It is a modern four-story building, consisting of one apartment on each of the first two floors and a duplex apartment taking up the top two.
The first-floor apartment consists of one bedroom, a bathroom with a shower, a living room, a kitchen, and a balcony with sea view. The apartment is fully furnished.
The Porta Sabbionara apartments are recommended for those who may wish to swim every day of their holidays at the nearby beach, enjoying the clear waters even at 7AM before breakfast and their daily program. At the same time they are conveniently near the town center, giving visitors the opportunity to take a walk in the streets of the old town, have a coffee or dinner, shopping and sight seeing in the old port, visit museums, or even take a guided bus tour around the city. We can provide you with all the information you may need to make your stay pleasant, for example the secret that the best bakery in town is only 50 m away. We can also arrange for car or motorcycle rentals and recommend day trips to important sites in and around the city of Chania.
I would appreciate if you do not smoke in the apartment.
Cleaning and change linen every three days is included in the price.
For the 50th wedding anniversary of my parents I've organised a surprise honeymoon for two weeks at Chania in Irini's apartment. We've had a lovely initial correspondence and she did a great job keeping it a surprise. Below a review from my mom:
Irini's warm hospitality was more than Greek. She prepared us a beautiful home with a fridge filled with fruits, vegetables, feta, beautiful fresh bread, Cretan chocolate and a cold bottle of Samos wine as a present for our anniversary.
We found a clean, light apartment, just big enough for two persons, in a quiet, street near the old harbour of Chania and just fifty yards away from the blue sea. Every little detail was done with attention and care. Twice a week a cleaner came with clean towels, made our bed with clean sheets and cleaned the apartment.
It was just perfect!!

This really is an architectural gem by the sea, it was an amazing location, modern, clean and the perfect size for two. As we arrived, Irini greeted us and showed us in. We were delighted that Irini had gone to the effort to buy us fresh bread, she filled the fridge with essentials and even baked us a beautiful cake. Irini went above and beyond, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Irini welcomed us on our arrival and the apartment was great and as described. Very clean and located in a good place near to the pretty old town and the harbour. Thoroughly recommend both the flat and the town. Also it's near a fantastic restaurant that Irini recommended which is the best in Crete.
Irini was amazing as a host! The apartment was beyond beautiful and comfortable! Everything was clean and the view from the balcony is amazing. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Irini was kind enough to leave some delicious homemade orange marmalade and other essentials in the refrigerator for us. She respondend quickly to every single question before and during our stay at Chania, which by the way is a dream island town!!!
I would certainly recommend Irini's apartment to anyone visiting Chania and if I ever get the chance, we'll stay here again!
A clean, bright, well equipped little apartment just 50 m from the waterfront. The street is ungentrified/ untouristy and quiet -- yet 2 minutes (or less) from a vibrant cafe street scene. Irini stocked the refrigerator with amazing Cretan produce and cheese. Excellent local olive oil (of course). Best was her homemade orange marmalade. Clean sheets and towels every 4 days!!

About the Host, Irini
I was born in Athens, studied archaeology in Florence, and since 1985 live in Chania with my husband, who is an architect, and my two sons.We run the apartments business together depending on the circumstances, retaining the high quolity of our services all year round .
I love this place because it has a wonderful countryside and beautiful beaches.
I also love to swim, and here one can swim even during the winter, as the temperatures are not too low. In my spare time I like to hike in the mountains or stay at home reading about the history of Crete. I love cooking using fresh, organic Cretan products.
