Bananas is a beautiful property located roughly 40 minutes out of Krabi. It is perfect if you are looking to be secluded from large popular touristy sites. Bananas works on a no cash system meaning all food and most excursions are recorded in a book and paid for when checking out. The property contains multiple bamboo huts and a couple that are concrete. It features a beautiful long dock which offers great views of the sunset. Do not expect wonderful white sand beaches though. Since the sea the tide goes in and out once a day. When out it leaves a sandy/muddy bottom. Nicer beaches can be found up the road at Melina's Monkey bar (coconut beach) and the secret beach. On site food can be hit or miss. When's it's on it great and sometimes it's just mediocre. Also keep in mind you are paying for convenience. Food and especially alcohol can be double what you are used to paying in other towns and cities. Eating alternatives can be found in either direction up the main road. If you'd like reasonably priced beer (half price) hang a right and walk to the store by the Natural Cafe. You can also rent scooters directly from the store which are cheaper than renting through the resort. The only excursion we did was the kayaking. Highly recommended and reasonably priced. Otherwise we rented a scooter and drove to the Tiger Temple. Overall it was a pretty nice stay and we met some great people.
Pros: Food, community eating, property, location, Jacob & Ollie (very friendly and willing to help)
Cons: Small blankets, early 5am prayers on loud speakers (bring ear plugs), no beach towels, food and beer prices, bottled water could be built into the price
Oli is a really nice and helpful guy and his place is awesome. If you are looking for a relaxing, secluded place but still want to have some activities options, this is a very good choice. Food is also very good. Too bad we only had a couple of days there. Thank you, Oli!
