The Space

Home away from Home!

If you want to get away from the hustle bustle, the traffic of Kathmandu but be rather close as well, then just a 20 minutes drive away or approx 8 km from Central Kathmandu, tucked away in the back with a gorgeous view of the Shivapuri hills is where you want to be! A home stay like no other.

This house has two nice cozy bed rooms with small balconies. It does not come with an attached bathroom but the bathroom is on the same floor of the house. There is also another bathroom/shower downstairs. A warm spacious living room with a great library for the readers An adjoining Kitchen .A beautiful garden to relax. Perfect for people looking to write/meditate/yoga or just spend time with the didi and have some local Neplai tea.

Very close to the himalayan foothills. The Shivapuri Natural park is just a 20 minute walk and then a great 2/3 hour hike up for a Panoromic View of the valley from the north and a visit to a few monasteries on the way down.

The House is equipped with a solar heated water, wireless internet and an electricity back up. There is a household help Mira Didi- who will do all the cleaning and cooking . There will also be a laundry lady who can come twice a week or on request.

Fresh organic eggs for breakfast and greens from the garden. Seasonal fresh fruits for you to pick from the tress. Its all Fresh and Clean.....home-cooked food every day!

We welcome you to enjoy our kathmandu the true nepali way- Locally!

to be noted:

I live in the house with my maid and her 9 year old daughter.
The house is not centrally heated so warm clothes and layering up would be the way to go for the winters! { Dec-Feb }

Interaction with Guests

i am there in the house a lot, so interaction as well as space will be a plenty!

The Neighborhood

I love the peacefullness about it. The air is much cleaner than the city and the area is also much greener. I also love that it feels like you're far from the city but actually only a 20 minute drive.

Getting around

the public transportation is convenient but the little busses also gets very crowded. Better to take cabs which are also pretty easy to find around. A few minutes of walking.

  • Staying at Yanik's for 3 days was such a perfect way to start our 2 weeks in Nepal. Thamel is quite intense these days, whereas staying with Yanik made us feel very relaxed and at home - with a wonderful view, a great host, and his lovely helpers. Thanks Yanik!!!

    Response from Yanik:

It was lovely to have u at my place too Hope to see you around in the near future

  • We had 2 very nice laid-back days at Yanik's amazing house. Yanik is a very interesting guy and very relaxed with his guests. Mira cooked the best Nepali food for us for dinner and also the breakfast was lovely. Yanik shared some great tips with us and was very helpful in general. Our kids loved to play in the garden, with Mira's daughter and with the 2 dogs.

  • Our stay at Yanik's house was the perfect end to our short 8 day trip around Kathmandu Valley. He made certain that we were able to reach his place from our previous accommodation, even leaving work early to meet us at his house. They prepared wonderful food for us for two days and even the India food he ordered for delivery was better than what we had been able to find on our own. And the house is located in a quiet and scenic location just North of KTM city. The best part is Yanik - who could answer every question we had about life in Nepal and still afford us as much down time as we needed. And if you are involved in music and arts - as we are - he is a great ambassador for the scene in Nepal. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

  • We found it very comfortable to stay at Yanik's place.
It's not so easy to stay with children in a busy city but this was much more fun than a hotel. The House is a little outside of the city located so ideal for letting the children play in the garden.
In the morning enjoy breakfast on the terrace in the Sun.
Yanik is a good host and very helpful. Thanks!
We want to thank the home help, Mira and her daughter, for the good food and the beautiful drawings.
Highly recommended! We will be back!

  • How wonderful wasn't it to wake up with the sounds of the cows, roosters and cheep in the morning... with the surroundings of the green Shivapuri hills and the warming sun while having a tea on the terrace.
Yanik is such a easy going guy to get a long with and very global, there is always interesting conversations and he takes very well care of you. He knows a lot about his city and the surroundings, so if anything you need you ask Yanik.

Even Yanik's friends are happy to make your stay even greater, by offering concert tickets, taking you out for a girls-night out and eating momo's at the jazz club while listening to some wild jazz!
I couldn't have asked for a better stay!

I truly recommend Yanik's place, with a short ride from the hectic city, returning to the serenity of the hills tops it all!

    Thank you Yanik!! <3

  • Couldn't have found a better place to stay in Kathmandu if I tried. This being my first Airbnb experience I had my reservations but Yanik was a wonderful host who helped us in any way he could. His house is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Its very close to the Shivapuri National Park where you can go on long walks and hikes, it is also an hour walk away from Bodha through the villages. I really cannot recommend staying here enough its such a wonderful experience. Getting into town is very easy as there are buses and taxis all the time on the main road. It is such a relief to be in the North side after spending the day in the busy city and having a chat with Yanik over a cup of hot chiya. There is always something to do in Kathmandu and Yanik always has great recommendations. I am missing it already!

  • I had read the reviews and reccomendation about Yanek and his place in abnb. It was my first abnb booking so though all-good reviews i chose his place with some little hesitations and unknowns. Now i am back. I can say Yanek's place has no minuses but more pluses. You can even find yourself prefer to spend your holiday time at home in amazing Kathmandu.

When it comes to him in person; nice purpose to choose visitting Nepal all by himself.

    What else you expect?
    Go and try Yanek's place.

  • Excellent, excellent, excellent host.
Yanik receive us at night with a great dinner and everything after this cool gesture was amazing. We had really interesting talks with him, he's a cool guy with unique perspectives from his country and culture.
His place is s gem; away from the hectic Kathmandu but still close to the main attractions you can find peace in his awesome house. The room is big and very confortable.
Definitely a MUST stay in Nepal.
    As a summary:
Yanik is a great host and his place is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

  • I stayed at Yanik's house with my two sons. The house is even more beautiful than the photos and the view out the bedroom windows of the Shivapuri Hills is stunning. Our hosts were fabulous. Yanik introduced us to Nepal and we learnt so much about his country which enrichened our stay enormously. Mira cooked delicious meals at a very reasonable cost (organic eggs for breakfast were free, as were numerous cups of chai tea) and her daughter a delight. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

I am yanik as you know, and i run a Study Abroad Program in Nepal and India so i travel quite frequently. Passage International. (email hidden). I have a big place that i have rented and i need to share it with a house mate or i frequently rent it out Bed and B'fast style. I am a very easy going person with a lot of knowledge about my city historically but more culturally. I also know allthe great little inner off beat markets and bars with great music where tourists tend to miss out. Love meeting new people and showing them my city with a different perspective. I am also (email hidden) he the music and art scene here in kathmandu and in the last 5 years or so, the art world has blown up and some really cool stuff is happening here in this urban village we love to call home.
