Rejuvenate your mind and body after a long day in Venice in our private garden guest house. Within walking distance to Abbot Kinney, but easily accessible to the rest of Los Angeles, our location is the ideal mix of convenience and location.
The guesthouse is decorated with our private collection from travels abroad across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, etc, as well as from the many local flea markets around the Los Angeles area. We do not provide television because we conceived this space as one of relaxation, away from the confines of modern technology.
Additional amenities include:
- Coffee grinder
- French press
- Coffee machine
- Bowls, Plates and Silverware
- Books and games
- Gas grill
- Patio heater
We require all potential guests to have a completed profile and at least one review before inquiring and/or booking. Please note that this space can only accommodate two adults. We do not accommodate pets.
The location provides easy access to all the benefits of Venice but in a quiet neighborhood community.
We are only half a block to the famous Venice Walking Streets, which you can use to stroll directly to Abbot Kinney or the beach.
The section of Lincoln Blvd. directly at the end of our street is undergoing a rapid transformation and has been terms "The Linc" by locals. There you will find a growing list of eateries, clubs and cafes.
There is an abundance of delicious and healthy eateries of all types and price points within walking and/or driving distance. We are happy to recommend and share information on questions or concerns you have during your stay.
Utilizing a route through the best neighborhoods of Venice, you can ride a bike to the beach in 10 minutes or walk in about 20 minutes, depending on your pace.
The space is self-contained and offers everything you need to make the most of your visit to Venice Beach and/or Los Angeles. The spacious room has private access and includes a queen size bed, a lounge area with sofa, a kitchenette and private bathroom. The room opens up to a full patio where you can enjoy the fresh air of the Venice mornings, the bright afternoon sun, or the cool evenings in front of our gas powered outdoor fireplace. In addition to the fireplace, the patio is equipped with a gas grill and an outdoor heater.
The guesthouse shares the garden and side garden gate access with the homeowners. The rental unit itself, as well as the patio area are for the use of guests during their stay. Access to the unit is through a locked gate, along a garden path past the front house to the rear of the lot.
Interaction with Guests
We respect the privacy of our guests and do our best to ensure they feel comfortable during their stay.
Our guests can expect us to meet them upon their arrival and provide an introduction to the space. During the course of their stay, the hosts will be accessible in person to address any concerns or provide information. Guests will likely cross paths with the hosts from time to time as they come and go from the space, but once inside the guest area, they is visual separation from the host's accommodations.
There is sufficient access to public transportation, including the Big Blue Bus stop within a half block from the house that will take you to Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, UCLA, and many other destinations in West LA. We are also only a few blocks from Venice Blvd, which has several routes towards downtown, including a connection to the Expo Light Rail line.
Guests who choose to drive will find ample free street parking and easy access to all the major freeways in LA.
We ask our guest to please abstain from:
- Smoking (any substance) on the property (inside or outside)
- Using illicit drugs
- Bringing pets (woof, meow etc..) with them
- Bringing any additional guests (e.g., friends) onto the premises
We do however encourage:

- Going on a morning/evening stroll amongst the eclectic mix of houses and people in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Great place, great location and great hosts! Thanks Chris for everything.
I really enjoyed my stay. Everything is just as advertised and the hosts couldn't be kinder.
This place was just as the listing described it. It's a quiet neighbourhood and great location. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back again. They even provided us with a bottle of wine, coffee, tea and some snacks. There is also a great little restaurant that you can walk to at the end of the street.
Firstly, the cottage is lovely and exceeded our expectations. It is clean, spacious and cosy. The garden is lovely and peaceful. The location is great for peace and a very pleasant walkable (30-40 mins) to Abbot Kinney et al.
We also walked to the Marina and the beach and back, but we are used to walking.
The cottage had all we needed. We didn't see Chris at all and didn't need anything, it was like we had the place to ourselves.
I would recommend the Garden cottage to anyone who wants to explore the Venice scene from a peaceful $8 cab ride away.
It was a pleasure to host Zoe and Dan during their visit to Venice. We do want to clarify our distance to Abbot Kinney and the Beach as we know these are main points of interest for our guests.
We are located just East of Lincoln Blvd. We walk to Abbot Kinney very often and estimate the time to take about 15-20 minutes leisurely on a route through Superba Ave. (website hidden) Maps estimates the same route to be 18 minutes, so we feel this is an accurate range. The Venice boardwalk is about 10 minutes past Abbot Kinney following the same route.
We look forward to answering any questions that potential, future and current guests may have Venice and the LA area to make their visit as good as it can be.
I had the most wonderful time staying at Chris and Azza's guest house. I felt really comfortable and like I had my own space but if I needed anything at all they were just a few steps away. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great spot! You will feel like you have your own apartment with a beautiful garden in a great location. The guest house is really well thought-out and well designed. You can tell a lot of care went into every little knob, piece of art, and fixture.
Very safe neighborhood, with easy access to Venice/Santa Monica. Chris and Azza were very welcoming, and were always available to help (thanks for letting us light the outdoor fireplace!). I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at the Venice garden retreat was thoroughly enjoyable. Chris & Azza have put a lot of effort into making their guest room comfortable & well equipped (kitchenette included & nicely decorated too). It's a quiet location, convenient to busses for Santa Monica & Venice beach. The room is separate from the main house but Chris & Azza were contactable if needed & kindly provided refreshments & snacks too. We would def return if in LA again ;) thank you !
I am hosting along with my partner Azza. We are both transplants who were lured to Venice by the coastal air, eclectic arts and restaurants, and the feeling of community. Chris enjoys roasting his own coffee and surfing, while Azza is an avid reader and writer, and amateur photographer. We have both traveled extensively through Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe and constantly long for our next adventure. When in LA, our favorite activities together are gardening, browsing at the local flea markets and enjoying the local food culture.
As hosts we aim to provide our guests the space they need to feel comfortable, while being available to share as much information as we can in order to help them make the most of their visit. Whether you are new to Venice and here to explore, or a regular visitor who needs a nice clean place to call home during your visit, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
