Whether you are visiting Venice for work or pleasure, you will find a distinctly charming, practical and clean accommodation at our recently renovated guesthouse.

We are a smoke, vice and pet free environment.

The Space

The guesthouse is decorated with our private collection from travels abroad across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, etc, as well as from the many local flea markets around the Los Angeles area. We do not provide television because we conceived this space as one of relaxation, away from the confines of modern technology.

Additional amenities include:
- Microwave
- Coffee grinder
- French press
- Coffee machine
- Bowls, Plates and Silverware
- Mini-Fridge
- Various games and books
- Gas grill
- Patio heater

We encourage all potential guests to have a completed profile before booking. Please note that we cannot accommodate pets.

Guest Access

The space is self-contained and offers everything you need to make the most of your visit to Venice Beach and/or Los Angeles. The spacious room has private access and includes a queen size bed, a lounge area with sofa, a kitchenette and private bathroom. The room opens up to a full patio where you can enjoy the fresh air of the Venice mornings, the bright afternoon sun, or the cool evenings in front of our gas powered outdoor fireplace. In addition to the fireplace, the patio is equipped with a gas grill and an outdoor heater.

The guesthouse shares the garden and side garden gate access with the homeowners. The rental unit itself, as well as the patio area are for the use of guests during their stay. Access to the unit is through a locked gate, along a garden path past the front house to the rear of the lot.

Interaction with Guests

We respect the privacy of our guests and do our best to ensure they feel comfortable during their stay.

Our guests can expect us to meet them upon their arrival and provide an introduction to the space. During the course of their stay, the hosts will be accessible in person to address any concerns or provide information. Guests will likely cross paths with the hosts from time to time as they come and go from the space, but once inside the guest area, they is visual separation from the host's accommodations.

The Neighborhood

The location provides easy access to all the benefits of Venice but in a quiet neighborhood community.

We are only half a block to the famous Venice Walking Streets, which you can use to stroll directly to Abbot Kinney or the beach.

The section of Lincoln Blvd. directly at the end of our street is undergoing a rapid transformation and has been terms "The Linc" by locals. There you will find a growing list of eateries, clubs and cafes.

There is an abundance of delicious and healthy eateries of all types and price points within walking and/or driving distance. We are happy to recommend and share information on questions or concerns you have during your stay.

Getting around

Utilizing a route through the best neighborhoods of Venice, you can ride a bike to the beach in 10 minutes or walk in about 20 minutes, depending on your pace.

There is sufficient access to public transportation, including the Big Blue Bus stop within a few minutes walking distance from the house that will take you to Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, UCLA, and many other destinations in West LA.

Guests who choose to drive will find ample free street parking and easy access to all the major freeways in LA.

  • This little guest cottage felt truly like a retreat. Chris greeted us when we arrived and walked us back through a lovely garden filled with the sounds of gurgling water. The place was spotless and colorful, the bed nice and comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with a few fresh items we could enjoy during our trip. We had everything we needed, and if a question arose, Chris was quick to respond and incredibly generous and helpful. This spot is conveniently located with easy parking. I'd definitely recommend staying here!

  • We had a really wonderful stay at the guest house. The neighborhood was really nice, very mellow and quiet. We loved the beautiful garden and sitting area outside of the little house, it added to the overall relaxed feeling of the stay. The house itself was great too, comfy bed, nice little kitchenette, very cozy.

Chris and Azza were great hosts, they were available for us if needed and made sure that everything was in place for our little trip! Thanks guys!

  • I loved being at the Venice Garden Retreat. Chris and Azza were very hospitable and are genuinely nice individuals. They have created a beautiful retreat within their home. The place is even better than the photos. It is beautifully decorated and has lots of character. It is kept very clean. The area itself is peaceful and is walking distance from different pockets of Venice where one can eat, shop or simply walk on the beach. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested and i would even stay there again when i am back. Thank you Chris and Azza for a beautiful time.

  • We had a wonderful stay in the little house. It is so nice decorated and has a great bed. It is so quiet, we slept perfect. The shower is also a real treat, lots of water and lovely soap. The house is clean and there were apples and other nice snacks. Chris gave us two bikes and we felt at home in Venice (we are from Amsterdam and love cycling). Abbot Kinney street is nearby (7 min by bike) and has lots of nice restaurants, coffee bars and shops there. We enjoyed it a lot, thanks Chris.

  • Such a perfect place to stay when in LA. Venice is a great area and the guesthouse was even better than in the photos. Chris was a perfect host, available if we needed anything but was sure to make us feel that we had the place to ourselves. Easy to park in the neighborhood, a few minutes from the beach and from the popular Abbot Kinney road.

  • A great experience! The guesthouse is super private, but the hosts are also on hand to offer advice and answer questions.

Venice Garden Retreat is really peaceful and quiet, but also close to the action of Abbott Kinney and Venice. I appreciated Chris going the extra mile with the loan of a bicycle... as well as with a lot of thoughtful touches that made the stay extra special.

About
I am hosting along with my partner Azza. We are both transplants who were lured to Venice by the coastal air, eclectic arts and restaurants, and the feeling of community. Chris enjoys roasting his own coffee and surfing, while Azza is an avid reader and writer, and amateur photographer. We have both traveled extensively through Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe and constantly long for our next adventure. When in LA, our favorite activities together are gardening, browsing at the local flea markets and enjoying the local food culture. As hosts we aim to provide our guests the space they need to feel comfortable, while being available to share as much information as we can in order to help them make the most of their visit. Whether you are new to Venice and here to explore, or a regular visitor who needs a nice clean place to call home during your visit, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
