Description

The Space

Great, beautiful contemporary Mexican Guesthouse with gorgeous views. Comfortable Bedroom available to guests with real comfortable mattress, (matrimonial), shared bathrooms. Big balcony with beautiful views off 2nd floor. The 3rd floor has a big deck with views. Great, large kitchen, and spacious Dining Room, Living Room. Beautiful tiled bathroom on the main floor, and full bathroom on the second floor as well. Parking for 2 cars, and beautiful garden. Fantastic quiet cul-de-sac, and safe, friendly mixed Mexican neighborhood. It's a 20 minute manageable hike to Centro. Buses are readily available for 5 pesos (40 cents) and you can easily flag a taxi to go back and forth for 30 pesos ($2.40) to Centro. Internet WIFI and phone. Because it is perched on a hill, the house is always comfortable (not too hot, not too cold) and gets a lot of light, long after houses in the Centro (late afternoon until sunset). With its panoramic views from both the balcony and the deck, you see the sunrise, and the sunset.

Guest Access

Rooms have keys so you can lock the door. The bathroom on the 2nd floor is for the guests (shared), and the guests and I share the larger bathroom on the main floor as well. All other common areas (kitchen, LR, DR, balcony, terrasse) are shared.

Interaction with Guests

I'll be happy to give my recommendations, draw a map for you, call taxis, or offer any support you may need.

The Neighborhood

It's a mixed Mexican neighborhood (working and middle-class), family-oriented. There are a couple of fruit and vegetable store 5 mn down, as well as a butcher, a copy centre, a couple of beer stores, and a knit craft shop. Then as you make your way down to the Centro, there are a few sparse typical Mexican shops, and then 15-20 minute down, a variety of typical Mexican restaurants, street vendors, etc. The higher end restaurants and Jardin are a further 10-20 mn walk.

Getting Around

Bus is 5 mn. down, readily available. Taxis can be flagged off the street for 40 pesos day and night (although there is a taxi shift change between 2 and 4pm where it's more difficult to get them). They can be ordered from the house as well for an additional 10 pesos. If it's raining very hard, the cobblestone street gets slippery, and taxis may be reluctant to drive up.

House Rules

Absolutely no smoking in the house. If you smoke on the balcony, shut the windows and door so that the smoke doesn't get into the house. Please wash your dishes/clean after yourself.

During dry season Nov.- May, Gto experiences water shortage. Often during the day time, we get our water supply from our private reserves. In order to be easy on the water pump, please keep your showers and laundry for evenings or very early morning. Also, as a way to be more environmentally sensitive, it's easy to throw toilet paper in the baskets available. It's not a plumbing issue though - the plumbing can handle toilet paper.

Gto collects garbage from neighborhood bins. That means everyone brings their garbage down to the bin on their daily walk to town. Our nearest bin is by the Panteon, 3 mn. walk down.

Please be quiet after 10pm. You may come and go at any time of the day and night, of course, but please be quiet when you come in at night. You are welcome to use the kitchen, but please clean after yourselves if you are cooking. Ask if you need room in the fridge. Lock the upper terrasse when you are not using it, and keep both doors downstairs (the metal gate and the wooden door) locked. Always keep the lower floor windows shut.

If I'm not there when you leave, lock both the wooden door and the metal gate, and throw the key in the corner so nobody can see it and use a hanger and grab it, or give it to my neighbours across the street (the small house).
You are responsible for putting your pet on the roof or leave him in the bedroom (take away breakables such as the ceramic lamps if he's a puppy) when there is no supervision.

The house address is Prolongacion Pinguica 7, Las Momias, Guanajuato.
