The Space

Located in the heart of the Garden District, the Parks-Bowman Mansion is a classic example of the good life in New Orleans. Shaded by palm trees (email hidden) oak, the deep porches on all three levels tempt you to rest and relax. The soaring center hall leads visitors to a carved cypress staircase ascending to the very top of the house, lit by stained-glass windows and massive chandeliers. There’s a music room, a formal dining room, a “ladies parlor,” and a fully appointed kitchen where you can enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee in the morning. Outside, a lovely garden surrounds a back porch for lounging and a full size lap-pool.

There are three rooms available. This listing is for the Haunted Bedroom. Don’t worry, our ghost (a young girl in a yellow dress from the 1890s) is very shy; you probably won’t see her, although some people swear she exists! If you prefer, please check out our other listings: the Red Room, and the Library.

The Haunted Bedroom features a queen-size bed and sitting area, and is the largest bedoom available in the house. It features a full shower bath, and also offer immediate access to the third-floor porch, with its sweeping views of New Orleans.

All rooms have internet access, and the Haunted Bedroom also has its own TV.

Our dogs (Moxie and Loebie) look forward to greeting you at the front gate, and our three cats (Mudbug, Tootie, and Zoolie) look forward to cuddling with you in the evening. Our house is furnished with our extensive art collection, which we’ve acquired in over thirty-five years of travel. Oh, and a little bit about us: Adrienne Parks-Bowman is a novelist and screen-writer, and Bill Bowman is a documentary film-maker, music producer, and web designer.

We can’t wait to share our house with you, and introduce you to the city we know and love so well. We’re right near Lafayette Cemetery, Commander’s Palace, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, and the shopping and dining pleasures of Magazine Street. There’s plenty of secure parking on our quiet street, and if you come for Mardi Gras, you’ll be just steps away from the parades! Come visit us and make us your home-away-from-home in New Orleans!

  • Addrienne was a great host and the house is a gorgeous as the pictures portray it to be. The house was clean, we enjoyed the use of the facilities and dining rooms in the house. Her and her husband were warm and friendly, giving us an overview of places to go and suggested a great live jazz music Strip on frenchmen st that I enjoyed. I met another Japanese couple there, he overheard me playing the piano and decided to get his guitar and we had a small jam session. I was thinking, "this would never happen in a hotel". The house is In a great location, putting us literally 5-10min from all of the action in the city. Esp Canal/Bourbon st. .
Overall, it was a great experience. It was my first Airbnb experience and I must say a good one. I will be using Airbnb more and hopefully visiting the P.B Mansion again.

  • Our experience with Adrienne and Bill was great. They received us very warmthly, gave us many advices to what to do and where to go, and were there whenever we needed them. The house it's beautifull, full of details, art work and books. Our room was spacious with a nice bath. The house has a long swimming pool where you can really swim and get some excercise. The neighborhood is very nice. Many historical houses and many places to have good coffee, food and shopping.
    We defenitelly recomend this place.

  • What a great place.. quiet and safe!! We will definitely go back !!!

Want to get in the pool too, next time. Adrienne and Bill were low key and helpful.

  • Well, I came back - which I think says it all - except to add I stayed in a different bedroom and it was even better. I even had my own private terrace/balcony! Someone else left a review which said they slept like a teenager, and they were not wrong! Maybe it's the comfy bed, or the secure peace and quiet on the third floor, or maybe it's the little girl....who knows. This is my favourite district, very scenic and tranquil, but the house is literally just 2 blocks from Magazine Street which could keep you entertained, fed and watered for days on its own. Thanks again Adrienne and Bill, great house, location, hospitality and vibe. Love you!

  • This is an amazing house in the beautiful garden district of New Orleans and we felt privileged to stay here for 3 nights. The house is full of character, with many interesting antiques, quirks and curios. We chose the room at the top of the house for the privacy it gave, with own stairs, bathroom and balcony. The bedroom was very comfy and we could not have wished for a better place to stay. Adrienne was a charming and interesting host, who gave us lots of information on local history.
