Bellmont is an older neighborhood in Charlottesville. Mainly built in the late forties. This is a middle class area with many families and young kids and a park right near my house. It is clean, quiet and safe, but one should still lock their car doors at night. There is a view of the nearby mountains from the back yard. UVA and Monitcello are both just a 10 or 15 min drive away.
There is a bus stop just half a block away where the #3 route passes on it's way directly to the downtown transit center (ride takes 10 min or less). It is a 20 min walk to downtown, and about 1/2 hr walk to the train station. (or a 5 min drive to either).
House is a colorful comfortable and well kept home. Treat it well and your karma will be blessed with a happy visit. Smoking is allowed outside only. Only pre-approved guests are allowed in the home space. This house is more of a restful sanctuary. I am a pretty peaceful, respectful housemate and expect other folks who stay here to be the same. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and all common areas during their stay.
Gwen was a wonderful host and her home is beautiful, welcoming, and very peaceful. I enjoyed cooking in her lovely kitchen, and her house is an easy walk to the Belmont area and the downtown mall (a walking street with shops and restaurants that is closed to traffic). She offered great suggestions for places and events to check out in Charlottesville, including a local walking trail, community yoga class, and a outdoor concert at the IX Center - all of which made my stay even more fabulous!
You know those places that you walk in and it just feels like home? That is the best way for me to describe our stay at Gwendolyn's. From the moment we walked in, it never felt like we were guests - she greeted us like old friends. We were only in town for a short time, but her house is in a perfect location - right next to a park, walking/riding distance to Charlottesville. She left coffee, tea, and locally-made bread and jam for guests, which is such a wonderful morning treat. Would definitely stay here again if we go back to Charlottesville!
Gwendolyn was an excellent host, making me feel right at home in her cozy little house! The room was quite spacious, charming kitchen, and perfect location for downtown Charlottesville. Excellent value for money, I highly recommend this room for any length stay (I wish I could have stayed longer!)
Gwendolyn's house was very clean and comfortable. It is an incredibly unique home and although I was only there for a night, it was a very calming experience. She made me feel welcome by offering an assortment of teas and locally roasted coffee. There is a list of helpful information in the kitchen, and the kitchen is absolutely beautiful (and you can use the kitchen to cook if you are there for an extended period of time, which is really nice). Gwendolyn was very laid back and super helpful. She was also incredibly accommodating, and worked with me last minute when I knew that I was coming into town only about four hours before my arrival. The neighborhood of Belmont is very quiet and safe. It is within walking distance or a short cab ride/car ride to the downtown mall and some excellent restaurants in the Belmont neighborhood, as well as a park. I would absolutely stay there again.
My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Gwen's home. Comfy bed and a great vibe during our overnight stay. We could walk to the historic downtown in about 15 minutes to enjoy a lot that Charlottesville had to offer. Would definitely recommend this cozy home and great host!
Gwendolyn offers a cozy and clean home in a nice neighborhood.

About the Host, Gwendolyn
After a life of traveling to and living in many places, I chose Charlottesville as my hometown because it is awesome! I now run a restaurant and own a sweet little home in Bellmont with a view of the not so far off mountains. I choose to host for Airbnb because I enjoy meeting people and still being a part of the traveling community. My years of travel and hospitality experience help me to know how to keep my home inviting and comfortable for guests. I spend many of my off work hours reading, hiking, tinkering on the house, or hanging out with friends around town.
