  • Unfortunately I did not have an opportunity to meet Gwendolyn. She notified me that she would be away and gave me instructions on how to enter her home. Everything else was as stated in her advertisement. The home was clean, there was organic coffee, tea and bread for breakfast. She had everything available that I needed.

  • This was a lovely room in a quaint house next to Belmont Park. It was great for our short trip to Charlottesville. About a mile outside of the Pedestrian Mall and a 10 minute drive to Monticello. The house has great greenery out front and in the back - beware of mosquitos when walking in/out of the house during dusk.
Gwendolyn was very accomodating. She gave us good recommendations for restaurants/bars/wineries nearby, which we took advantage of.
Good stay in a good location!

  • We had a great stay with Gwendolyn. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, all that. Enjoyed the fifteen/twenty minute walk into town. The place is great, very relaxed and welcoming, and the location's a good base to explore Charlottesville. Thanks to Gwendolyn for having us.

  • Wonderful stay with Gwendolyn. Cozy, clean house on a quiet street. Gwendolyn was very helpful with suggestions for the area and journey to my next destination. She also provided yummy coffee and light breakfast options in the morning.

There is also a tidy garden out back or small park nearby, if you prefer to sip your coffee outdoors or want to take a stroll.

  • Gwen's place was perfect for my short stay in Charlottesville. Just as advertised, it is a 15 minute walk to the head of the downtown pedestrian mall (yes, I timed it). The house itself was a great place to chill out in, with a really cool backyard. The bed was comfy and the shared bathroom was neat and tidy. Gwen also introduced me to Beer Run - a much more comprehensive neighborhood establishment than the name implies! Check it out if you stay, but be careful trying to tackle the nacho platter by yourself.

  • I had a really good experience here: the house was clean and charming, the neighborhood quiet. Although I didn't meet Gwendolyn, I could feel her hospitality through the many thoughtful things she does to anticipate her guests' needs. (The to-go cup for my morning coffee was particularly brilliant and appreciated.) I'll definitely stay here again if the opportunity comes up.

  • Gwendolyn was a wonderful host with a lovely house. She was warm, friendly, thoughtful and made sure we had everything we needed, including really delicious tea and English muffins in the morning. Her house and garden are beautiful, inviting, and peaceful, and we loved being able to walk right downtown. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it.

After a life of traveling to and living in many places, I chose Charlottesville as my hometown because it is awesome! I now run a restaurant and own a sweet little home in Bellmont with a view of the not so far off mountains. I choose to host for Airbnb because I enjoy meeting people and still being a part of the traveling community. My years of travel and hospitality experience help me to know how to keep my home inviting and comfortable for guests. I spend many of my off work hours reading, hiking, tinkering on the house, or hanging out with friends around town.
