The Space

Fully furnished, two story cottage on Napa Creek, two miles from the center of town. The upstairs bedroom has eclectic furniture from the thirties, including a desk and a comfortable queen bed. In the downstairs living room is a queen sofa-bed, a large flat-screen TV, and a drop-leaf table that seats four for dining or games. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, and dishes and silverware for four. There's a washer and dryer and computer and cell phone access. The owner's original watercolors decorate the walls. The location is scenic, quiet and private. Deer can be seen at any time of day. There's a path to the creek. Within walking distance is an upscale grocery store, the Carolyn Parr Nature Museum, and a 110 acre city park with hiking trails and a panoramic view of the city.

For shoppers, the Napa Factory stores are a little over a mile away. Good restaurants are plentiful within a two to three mile radius.

The Cottage by the Creek is situated in a scenic area that's close to town and only a mile from the freeway.

  • Cottage by the creek was out of a storybook! We pulled up and were immediately greeted by a mama and baby deer! I was blown away! The house is adorable and I can't say enough good things! Why spend $600/night on a hotel by all the restaurants and shops when you can stay a 10-15 min drive away in an adorable house and see deer every morning when you wake up? If you're reading this and you aren't sure I'm telling you BOOK IT!! You won't be disappointed!

  • I was so excited when we arrived at cottage by the creek. It wasn't as close to downtown as we had thought (about 2 miles, or a $10 cab ride), but it was so quiet, solitary, and cozy. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and the host was very accommodating. The walking trails nearby give great views of the Napa valley and a great way to burn off the extra vacation calories ; ) we would definitely stay there again!

  • My Mom and I loved our stay at the cabin.
It feels secluded and safe and was in a great area. We were still very close to downtown Napa, where we caught out bus for wine tours.
Downstairs couch is a hideaway bed so it worked out great!

  • What a lovely little weekend escape! The cottage is minutes away from downtown Napa, but you'll feel like you're nestled in a secluded forest treehouse. It's clean, well-kept, and cozy—a perfect respite for three girls (email hidden) weekend! Thanks for a fantastic stay!

  • Monroe's immaculate 3 story cabin in the woods along a creek in Napa is a treasure and surprise. It is a perfect private retreat for a get-away from it all that is actually close to everything. Downtown Napa is accessible by car or bicycle. The cabin is welcoming and comfortable with wood and tile floors, living/visiting level, kitchen/bath, and wonderfully secluded upper bedroom. We loved the special craftsman features and art gallery!

  • What an amazing experience! I looked and looked for a place that would provide me with more than a single room, studio style apartment, close to Napa, that didn't require me to walk from the renovated pool house to the main house just to use someone else's bathroom or kitchen. Monroe's Cottage went above and beyond my expectations. Incomparable price for the space and privacy you get here. Feels like you are in the woods, yet only minutes from the town center. Lot's of personality and everything you need to make your stay feel like home.

In addition, he put me in contact with his daughter in law who helped to make my proposal weekend incredible by providing endless advice, along with helping to decorate the cottage with rose petals, flowers, and champagne for our return after a long day!

Monroe was extremely quick to reply to all email questions and requests. Although he never intruded on our time or space, I had the opportunity to meet Monroe while there and he and his wife were so wonderful.

I truly cannot wait for our return trip to Napa. I can assure you we will be staying at the Cottage by the Creek! This place is a Gem!!!

  • (email hidden)! It's a great spot to base Napa adventures from, although it might be a little cozy to hang out and, say, cook and enjoy a nice dinner if there are four of you.
