The space

The apartment from 1900 is located in an old colonial Spanish building, consisting of 2 floors with 4 apartments. It is located on the first floor and in the old town of Tangier. It was once owned by an aristocratic family, who donated the old theater Cervantes to the city. It is 200 metres from the apartment to the beach, the Bay of Tangier and 200 metres to the bustling medina, the market and the ' Grand Socco square ' with the alternative cinema Riff.

The apartment is 225 m2 and has the capacity for 4 persons. There is a spacious sittingroom with dining room en suite and a corner room with balcony and sea view. There are 2 bedrooms and the corner room has a sofa bed. The fully renovated bathroom has a bathtub with shower, a bidet, a second toilet, and two washbasins. The modern kitchen includes a coffee maker, a waterboiler, a (buta)gas stove with oven, a microwave and a washing machine. Bed linen and towels are sufficiently present.

In the House many original details have been preserved, including the old Spanish Arab tiles in all the rooms and the stained glass doors in the living room. The rooms are spacious and 4 metres high. The decor is a mix of styles, classical-modern European with traditional details. In the bedroom there are 2 good double beds.

The House is located in a lively area with many shops and a large market. The beautiful Soccoplein with its many restaurants, including Art & Gourmet, is 200 metres away. Also the delightful seafood restaurant au Saveur des Poissons is around the corner.
Some museums and galleries are within walking distance and so is the enchanting Medina.

You could park your car at a guarded, paying car park just around the corner near the Cervantes theatre. Not far from the apartment on Avenue-Pasteur and Mohammed VI are various car rental companies including Herz and Avis.

Tangier is one of the oldest cities in Morocco. In 1923, Morocco officially divided into a French and a Spanish Protectorate. The North fell under Spain whereby most Moroccans also speak Spanish. Tangier got an international status: and fell under international law. By this particular statute Tangier attracted many adventurers, artists, writers and (seedy) businessmen from all over the world. Today the city counts, without suburbs, 700,000 inhabitants.

Marty's flat is an utter delight, like stepping into a little story. For me the plaque on the door with the name of the Spanish architect who designed the nearby theatre was worth everything. It could all be straight out of a Garcia Marquez novel. The place itself is one of the wondrous old Mediterranean buildings in the French style, with the brilliant tall skinny shutters and impossibly high ceilings that you make you feel like normal standard ceilings have really gutted our collective quality of life. The tiles retain their brilliance after day three -- you look at them and think, how much richer life would be if you got to look at such tiles every day. And of course everything runs perfectly and the sheets are soft and the bed comfortable and even the bathroom is original and cool. The location is highly central, which also means that the street outside is loud throughout the night, so ear plugs would be an asset to light sleepers. We stayed during a particularly hot summer, and Marty was going to get a fan for the flat, just to keep the air moving. I should also say that Marty herself, and the people who help out in Tangiers, are the very heart of responsive, helpful, efficiency. I changed my dates about five times and Marty was incredibly gracious and coordinated late night pick-ups and really went well and truly out of her way to be accommodating. Overall, a total gem of a place.

Marty's place is better than the photos - large, elegant and clean. It's an oasis of calm in a noisy, bustling, absolutely fascinating city. The apartment is in the centre of old town within easy walking distance of the medina and kasbah. Be aware, it's not a quiet location - it is on a busy trading street which, if you're like me, you'll find perfect for people watching from one of the many first floor balconies the apartment has. The beach is a ten minute stroll and the ferry port a similar walk in the opposite direction. Marty and her agent in Tangier, M. Sobhi, were delightful to deal with and couldn't have been more helpful. I really recommend this place

Marty had arrange everything to welcome us, communication was very easy, polite and efficient. We arrive in the apartment and it was just fabulous ! It is a beautiful place with a nice spirit. Both bedrooms have a little balcony and one has a view of the sea from the living (URL HIDDEN) is very central, walking distance to the Medina, the grand Socco and avenue pasteur ... we did everything by foot so it was very convenient. I highly recommend the experience. We just want to come back......

Marty's apartment was beautiful to say the least. It was easily the most beautiful Airbnb I've ever stayed in- really like a palace. The entire experience was very smooth- Marty had her very nice housekeeper let us in and give us a key, and her friend brought us to the airport at the end of the trip. All very helpful. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the views were beautiful!

Lovely apartment with everything you need, in a great location just down from the medina. Easy to find and Marty's agent, Mr Sobhi, was so helpful - he drove us to the station to buy our train tickets, drove us around Tangier for a good look, and drove us to the station when we left. Would certainly come here again.

Marty went out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly for our stay. Even checking when we arrived to see if there was anything additional she could help with. We are very grateful for her kind consideration. We would recommend this apartment to anyone desiring an authentic taste of Tangier. The apartment is close to everything one needs.
