The Los Angeles area is spread out, off peak Long Beach is 1/2 hour from Downtown LA (22 miles.) Traffic is a way of life in our two counties (Orange and Los Angeles County.) During peak traffic figure 3 mins per mile (aka 20 miles per hour.) I always going into LA (Downtown, Hollywood or Universal Studios) by train which is 1/2 block from my house. It takes me 45 minutes to an hour by train...
Keep in mind Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the USA with almost 10 million people in 88 cities over 4,200 square miles. No matter where you stay you will be challenged by traffic, 7 of the Top 10 most congested freeways in all of America are in Los Angeles County (the other 2 are in the San Francisco Bay Area and 1 in New York-yea NY..I'm and ex-New Yorker.)
Long Beach is a great gateway to Huntington Beach (surf city) and Disney Land and by train into LA, Hollywood and Universal Studios. Santa Monica and Venice Beach is a large drive because of traffic.
We have 2 small dogs a Min Pin and a Maltese they hangs out downstairs under the stairs/in the window or in our room.

A really nice place, and a nice host ! The free parking is helpful and the house is a really nice place too ! Thank you.
This is an ideal place to stay for travelers visiting Long Beach. Wendell is a terrific host, accommodating and helpful. The room is as private as can be, with it's own door to enter or leave the building. The bathroom and kitchen are very nice and clean, and everything you could need, from a washer and dryer to secured parking, is provided. The location couldn't be better, being downtown and right next to grocery stores, department stores, drug stores, restaurants and more.
The bldg was very safe and in a great location / access to Embarcadero, Pine St and Ocean Blvd (convention Center). Nice large room with private entrance and well equipped. Shared bath with provided guest toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc). Host was very professional, courteous and accommodating. He saved me both a reserved and guest parking spot for me and my wife during a busy weekend.
At Wendells we felt immediately welcome. If you read his descriptions carefully you gonna get there very easy. The aero bed was comfortable and we had the opportunity to chat a bit with him (very smart guy with a lot of stories to tell!). He showed us the parking place and gave us tips to get the easiest way to the universal Studios. I have to say that sometimes long beach was a bit uncomfortabel to us two, young girls. But wendell and his dogs did a great Job. By the way the puppies are very cute (but they get a bit nervous if Wendell is outside and you are alone with them). The bathroom was to share with him (without any problem and very big!). In the morning he offered us Coffee and breakfast - very kind! Starbucks and supermarket are directly surrounding his flat.
Wendell & Team were AMAZING hosts. My boyfriend and I were in the Long Beach area for a couple of days before we left on our 3 day cruise, after which we would be staying with Wendell & Team. Wendell & Team not only let us store our one large suitcase at their home free of charge for the duration of the cruise, I was also given a tour of the home and shown our accommodations when I went to drop off the suitcase. Talk about a warm welcome! We got a chance to talk to Wendell for a bit over breakfast and had a very enjoyable conversation. The accommodations are exactly as they are described, if not better than described. The room is very spacious, breakfast is included, there are travel-sized hygiene items available for your use, and you even have your own entrance/exit to the unit. It was a better experience than I have had in any hotel...it felt like I was at home. Any expectations we had before we arrived were far exceeded. And to top off the wonderful experience, we had a flight to catch at LAX that was taking off at 5 a.m. and Wendell was extremely gracious and offered to give us a ride in the wee hours of the morning. I can't say enough good things about our experience with Wendell & Team! It would be mistake not to stay here.
Overall a very pleasant and welcoming stay. This was our first time using airbnb!!
Host met us at parking garage and gave us a brief tour of his place and the room. The room is very private and big and everything was very clean. The Aerobed was surprisingly very firm and comfortable with clean sheets.
Wendell is a very accommodating host and would recommend this stay to anyone!
