A luxury setting for a beautiful, restful, and romantic wine country stay.

The Space

A street-side entry through the garden takes you to this large and elegant suite (457 sq.ft.) featuring a master bedroom, adjoining reading/entertainment area and master bath. Furnished in country French, it features Asian accents and original artwork by European born artist Jaroslav Lobanovsky.

Guests enjoy full use of the Asian-inspired garden as well as the large deck and patio dining areas. The private suite is separated from the rest of the house. Your host resides in the main part of the home, located on Sonoma's popular east side.

A short, 10-minute walk brings you to the famous Sonoma Plaza where you can browse through quaint shops, catch a movie, visit wine tasting rooms, restaurants, boutiques and historical California landmarks. Many guests choose to leave their car parked because the plaza is so close.

The suite features a Queen Bed, fine linens, down comforter and memory foam mattress topper. The ensuite 6' jetted bathtub and a separate shower offer you a luxury master bath setting that looks out onto the charming private garden with its mature trees and redwood grove.

Guests can enjoy coffee or tea in the privacy of the suite or in the garden. Coffee and tea services are provided for your convenience. The suite is equipped with a small refrigerator for chilling wines or storing small food items.

The host's friendly Gordon Setter, Tessie, will also welcome you to her back garden paradise. For a relaxing afternoon, take a nap on the chaise lounge or wander around the property and enjoy the goldfish pond and tranquil Quan Yin meditation area.

There is plenty of easy on-street parking in this quiet, centrally-located residential neighborhood. Historic wineries and downtown attractions are all within minutes of the house. A wonderful choice for a romantic and relaxing stay in Sonoma's wine country.

Guest Access

To enhance their enjoyment of the property guests are welcome to access the following shared areas: the back garden grounds, deck, seating and eating areas, and chaise lounges.

Interaction with Guests

You will be personally welcomed by the host upon arrival and given a full orientation to the suite. Thereafter, the interaction is up to mutual arrangement - if guests have any questions or want help planning their activities in the area. Each morning by 8:30 a.m. freshly baked rolls are served on the Magic Cart outside your door to complete Chez Marie's continental breakfast.

The Neighborhood

Chez Marie is located in the highly desirable east side neighborhood in the City of Sonoma. You can walk to the Downtown Plaza and most places within a few minutes, yet have close and easy access to roads taking you further into Sonoma and Napa counties.

  • I highly recommend this place. It's situated in a residential area about a pleasant 15 minute walk to the plaza. Maria is very prepared for guests, and provides just the right amount of advice and interaction. The garden is a great place to hang out, and it is well shaded so even on a hot day it's a pleasant place to sit.

The room itself is very nice, is fairly large, and it comes well stocked. We were very glad we used Maria's as a home base to explore Sonoma and to relax when we were done!

  • Chez Marie far exceeded our expectations. The Airbnb photos of Maria's place are beautiful, and somehow we were even more stunned when when we walked into the actual property. We stayed here for two days during our first Sonoma trip, and had an amazing time. The garden backyard is a very tranquil escape. We absolutely adored drinking our morning coffee and eating Maria's homemade croissants while staring at the flowering plants and breathing the fresh Sonoma air. Maria's home is very closely situated to the Sonoma plaza, about a 10 minute walk! No need to worry about driving if you've had too much fun wine tasting! Everything inside the private suite was spacious and beautiful, just as if you've checked into a boutique hotel. Maria was extremely easy to communicate with, but even more important than accessibility was the fact that she was such a kind, and gracious host. This particular Airbnb experience gave us renters a real chance to connect on a human level with our host. We had time to get to know Maria, yet still felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Maria was very enthusiastic in giving us her great suggestions for places to visit and eat in the area. We are so grateful to her and Tessie (the sweetest dog you will ever come across) a wonderful experience! We can't wait to come back!

  • Maria is a wonderful hostess; she thinks of everything you might need before you even think about it; went well above and beyond to make me welcome and comfortable. Perfectly quiet setting on top of that

  • My boyfriend and I spent a weekend at Chez Marie to celebrate two years of being together, and we couldn't have found a better spot or host. Chez Marie is perfection - a beautiful room, luxurious tub, delightful garden, and in the morning, warm croissants! Her location is also a pleasant walk away from Sonoma Square, full of shops, restaurants, and of course, wine tasting. Maria will also share with you a list of her favorite spots for dinner, and we were so happy with her recommendation. Chez Marie is the perfect spot to take a relaxing (or romantic) time away, and from which to explore all Sonoma has to offer.

  • Maria's accommodations were wonderful. It is even nicer than the pictures. The backyard is so peaceful and spacious, and the landscaping was beautiful. We liked being able to walk into town and enjoyed biking the area. Maria is very helpful and pays attention to every detail. We hope to return again!

  • We spent Valentine's Day weekend at Maria's and could not have been more impressed. Her home is lovingly appointed with elegant and comfortable furniture and an exquisite attention to detail. The suite has a private entrance from the deck of the house and opens immediately into a lovely garden. We loved the spacious bathroom with its oversized jet-tub and appreciated the organic skin and hair care products, which Maria provided. She even thought of such useful details as makeup remover wipes and epsom salts. The mini fridge came stocked with water, juices, yogurt, and milk/cream. She provided a wonderful custom blend coffee, and also served us the most delicious breakfast every morning. Aside from the impressive accommodations, we were welcomed like old friends which made our stay even more phenomenal. Our first night at Maria's, she invited us to grab a glass of champagne with her and her friends before we headed out. She had so many interesting stories to share! We would hands down recommend her (and already have) to all our friends.

  • If we would need to describe our stay at Chez Maria with just one word it would be "romantic"!!! we were looking at airbnb for a room to sleep in Sonoma, but we discover a whole different experience at Chez Maria. The room was very very beautiful, every furniture and decoration in the room fit perfectly to create a very romantic place. The bathroom has a great Jacuzzi to relax with a glass of wine... after a long day touring in the wineries drinking wine : )
The garden is also fabulous, a very nice environment that complements the room. And the best part is... the breakfast of course! Maria is a great cooker, she makes the best croissants we ever had!! Maria, you should have your own restaurant!! There's also a fridge in the room with yogurt, juice, water, milk, cereal, etc, all you need to start the day in Sonoma.
We will definitely recommend Chez Maria to our friends and come back to stay.

Welcome to Chez Marie. I have lived in Sonoma for over 12 years and absolutely love the warm and friendly community that it is. I am a Bay Area native, who has traveled all over the world, and has made friends from the mountains of Nepal to the south seas of Tahiti. I am interested in all cultures, their traditions, foods, and music. Professionally, I have had extensive experience in the medical field, specifically in marketing, sales and account management. Most recently, I have written two memoir-cookbooks books currently on Amazon and am preparing number three as of this writing. In support of Russian American culture, I write a weekly blog to highlight news that is off the beaten track, or little known facts that link my country and Russia. I have done event planning both for personal and public celebrations. For guests wishing to get the most out of their Sonoma visit, I can help with my concierge services. My goal is to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible, not only in my home but in the wine country at large.
