We stay here for 5 days and it was great. Good service, nice room and a good location!!
Best Airbnb experience I have had thus far!! We were in awe the first day at how amazing the apartment was and how friendly and accomodating Marino and Marcella were.
I, along with six other college students, stayed at this apartment for four nights in March of 2014. Contact with Marino beforehand was easy and finding the apartment was too. Our group arrived earlier than expected and we were allowed to leave our luggage at the apartment while we strolled around the neighborhood and got lunch. Marcella spent some time with us describing the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, providing us with some great restaurant and bar recommendations nearby. Make sure you do not lose this map! It was very helpful (and surprisingly in-depth) for a group of newcomers.
When we first walked into the apartment, we were shocked. The whole apartment has a really cool feel to it; sort of modern and artsy with a really unique design. The apartment was very clean and stocked with silverware and dishes and soaps and detergents that you might need during the stay. They even provided about ten large water jugs, which ended up being pretty important for a group of college kids.
The location is amazing, tucked away in this really cool neighborhood called El Born. By the end of the trip we knew the area pretty well and felt almost like locals, or at least less like typical tourists. There are great little bars, restaurants, and shops all around. The amenities were fantastic; comfy beds, towels and robes provided, silverware and glasses (even champagne flutes) provided, washer and dryer, the list goes on and on. And to top everything off, Marino provided breakfast and coffee for each guest every morning if we chose to eat. I feel like I'm leaving so much out, but bottom-line, this Airbnb was amazing. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Barcelona.
Merci encore Marino R.
This place is AMAZING! So much character, lovely vibe, smart kitchen & bathroom and everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We took our 2 year old boy, and he also loved everything about it, lots of room to play and run around. It has 4 lovely double beds, and a huge sofa - but would recommend only staying with family or friends you are very comfortable with as it's fairly open plan.
Marino was a perfect host, bringing us a delicious breakfast each day, and a delicious Sacher Torte from his bakery on our arrival. There are CDs, guide books, art books, piano, electric guitar, wi-fi, chess board... the list goes on. Can't recommend highly enough.
Estaremos de vuelta!
Gracias Marino, tuvimos una estancia maravillosa.
My wife and I stayed with Marino and Marcella for three nights in January 2014, during a weekend break to one of our favourite European cities.
The whole experience was extremely pleasant and positive, from a warm and quick reply to our original enquiry, through regular correspondence as our arrival time approached, to a very warm and friendly welcome in their cake shop, "LaTarta" located on the same street as the apartment. We were taken to the apartment (45 seconds walk), and shown how everything works, and left with a fantastic welcome gift (we won't spoil the surprise by saying what it was!)
Both Marino and Marcella were always available for a chat or if we had any questions. We are quite self-sufficient so I don't think we over-used their helpfulness, but we are sure first-time visitors will get all the answers they need, and more.
The apartment is fantastic - great design, much of it hand-made by Marino, and every possible convenience has been provided for. We could write for many pages about the apartment but it really is first-class. Particularly great for us was the double-double bed - all together about 3.5 metres wide! :)
Two main points to note, which have been covered by some previous reviewers:
1. The apartment is much darker than the photos show, as there is almost no natural daylight coming from outside. The importance of this really depends on your preferences - we were on the streets the whole day and this didn't bother us at all. However, if sunlight in the apartment is important to you, you may want to look at other properties.
2. The apartment is on the ground floor, so the street (Portal Nou) is about 15 metres from your bed. Is it loud? The best answer is probably: 'it depends'. At the weekend, nowhere in a city like Barcelona is quiet - all you need is for one loud group of party-goers to pass your front door, and you may hear them. On the other hand, on Saturday and Sunday nights we slept perfectly. If you are a very light sleeper, it is probably best to take ear plugs just in case...
Despite the above, we had a great time and are very, very happy to recommend Marino and Marcella to other guests. They are fantastic hosts and you will not regret staying with them :)

Marino and his Wife are top of the line Airbnb'ers.
They are super responsive, very helpful and friendly nice people who love what they do.
The apartment is designed, very cool and has all the most modern things you need and when you step out, you are minutes away from the Chocolat Museum, Born, Arch de Triumph and all the other sites.
And they have a great place to have amazing chocolate cake and breakfast too!
I would highly recommend their loft.
Marino and Marcella are great hosts. The loft is located in El Born, a great area of Barcelona. U will find all what u need ( lining, towels etc.) moreover the breakfast was delicious!
Our stay was very pleasant! Thanks!
It will be hard for us to explain what an amazing stay we had in this wonderful apartment and to put in to words how helpful and courteous Marino and Marcello were as hosts. My husband and i have been in the hospitality business owning hotels, bars and restaurants for a long time and this is the first private apartment we have stayed in that was so well equipped. We wanted for nothing. The layout is very open plan but suited us perfectly, and the area really is our favourite in the whole of Barcelona. So many wonderful cafes, bars, boutiques etc. Every recommendation that Marino and Marcello gave us was spot on. We really loved 'Mosquito' for dim sum and it was 2 mins away from the apartment. The beds are comfy, the lighting perfect, the kitchen so well equipped, the bath lovely and big. Anyway we will be back very soon. Thank you again for looking after us and for the chocolate cake (again the best i have ever tasted) x
This is a comfortable open-plan apartment for people who are familiar enough not to need walls. It is in El Born, a fantastic part of town, close to everything. Be warned, the photos on Airbnb are not indicative of the light. We found in mid-winter when we were all sick and needed to stay home during the day, the lack of natural daylight was oppressive. Also, there is only minimal ventilation so it can be smelly. Marino and Marcella are the perfect hosts and breakfast is a generous inclusion.
Dear Jane, thank you for your comment,we really enjoed meeting you!
That's true that airbnb photos are too bright - apartment is more dark in reality.especially in dark winter days without sun...We are going to change main entrance wood door for glass one to provide more natural light in our place. Also note that all old town when it's raining you can feel bad small from pipes, but opening the part of main window and another window above second exit you can ventilate apartment very good!
All the best for you Jane;Marino
Marino and Marcella are great hosts. Their loft is perfectly located in the hip El Born area of Barcelona. It's clean and well appointed with linens and towels. The bathroom and kitchen are fully stocked with everything you will need, from a hairdryer to Nespresso coffee machine and capsules.
They were very sweet and had multiple maps, guide books and other travel info for us set up upon our arrival. I would highly recommend renting their loft if you are traveling to Barcelona and want a very "local" experience while you are there.
