The apartment is one large open space. Except for the bathroom, there are no doors and no walls.
The apartment has no washer or dryer, but there is a laundromat two blocks away which offers self-service and drop-off service. We have a cart and laundry bags to borrow if you want to take your laundry there.
Early check-in and/or late check-out available if the adjacent dates are not booked.

*** Please note: We live one block away from a large public housing project. ALL Airbnb apartments in this neighborhood are near it one way or another. It is not dangerous, and you'd have to really go out of your way to walk past it, but it IS an urban environment. However, we have lived here for ten years (we actually live upstairs from the Airbnb apartment with our toddler son.... don't worry, he sleeps through the night!), and have never felt unsafe. ***

The Hoyt St apartment was perfect for our week stay in Carroll Gardens. We were two adults & two children : the apt was clean, comfy and there were nice touches including a new coffee machine, candles & Aveda bath products. We already knew the neighborhood well since we lived there a few years ago - but Zachary was on hand in case of questions. The apt was also surprisingly quiet given the cars on Hoyt St and proximity to a housing project. We have nothing but good experiences to share from our stay. Our sole suggestion would be adding a full-length mirror - but perhaps we're just vain!
Thanks Jody & Zachary - we hope to stay again.

This was my first time using Air BnB and it could not have gone better!! Zachary was SO nice and accommodating. He had everything laid out so perfectly even with a map of the nearby subway trains, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. Subway F train that takes you straight to Manhattan just a few blocks away. We only saw him at check in but he made it known we could see him as much or as little as we needed. The apartment was crisp and clean. The beds were so comfy it felt like hotel quality. The bathroom was nice and clean and great water pressure with the shower. A+++!! Next time I go to NYC not only will I use air bnb I will specifically be looking to stay here again! Thank you so much!!
Zachary was a great host. He greeted us and oriented us to the apartment. The fresh flowers and bottle of wine were a warm welcome and definitely appreciated. The apartment is comfortable for a couple with its open concept. The bathroom is small, no getting around that. We found the bed to be comfortable with great sheets. We were there during the winter and this older building does have a lot of noises as the heat comes off and on and the above foot traffic that cannot be avoided. The bedroom is at the front of the apartment right next to the street and it was easy to hear the outdoor noises, which may not be good for light sleepers. The location was good. We were within a few blocks of Smith and Court St, both havens for good eating and shopping. Although we really couldn't spend time on the back patio due to weather, I loved having the view of the birds feeding at the feeder and a place to watch the snow fall.
Thanks, Sarah, for your excellent suggestion that we have earplugs available for guests! It's true that nearly all pre-war NYC buildings have steam heat, and steam heat always brings a few pings and knocks as it cycles. As New Yorkers, we are used to this, but not all visitors may be.
This was our family's first airbnb experience and it was great! We are in the process of relocating to the NYC area and Zachary was super helpful and full of amazing knowledge about the area. The apartment itself was detailed with fresh flowers and had a large, open layout. It was located one block from Smith Street and two blocks from Court Street, so we had all of the food and shopping we needed at our fingertips. I think the best part about staying here was the shower. It's by far the best shower I've ever experienced! The water pressure was to die for. We brought our 5 month old baby and Zachary even set up a pac-and-play for her to sleep in. We also had a bottle of wine and freshly ground coffee waiting for us upon our arrival. We never felt unsafe in the area and would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone who may be traveling with their family.
We had a great time! The apartment was cozy, spacious and well equipped. Zachary was perfect host and very helpful. We felt really welcome. He was easy to contact and gave us all the info we needed before and during our trip. Everything went really smoothly. The location was really good. Neighborhood was peaceful but lively, full of nice shops, cafes and restaurants. We travelled with 4month old baby and this was the best location for us. Subway was near and it took only 15mins to Manhattan. Thought the area was so nice that we liked it even better than Manhattan. If you want the real Brooklyn experience this is the place to be! Hope to be back soon. Thank you Zachary and Jody! This was our best vacation ever.
What a great stay - lovely bright and comfortable apartment with plenty of room and a wonderful garden. The apartment was stocked with everything we needed and more, and Zachary was so accommodating, available, and all-around awesome. Great location one block from one of the best streets in Brooklyn. This is going to be our go-to Brooklyn stay and we're already strategizing our next trip!
We came to Brooklyn to visit our daughter, and wanted to have a place where she could stay with us (her place is too small) during our visit. What a great place, clean, well furnished, comfortable and spacious. Zachary was a great host, giving us suggestions for restaurants & sight-seeing, and overall making us feel like we were staying with friends. The coffee provided was much appreciated, and there is a small kitchen. The location was good, just a block from lots of eating, drinking, coffee places, plus close to subway stops. We could walk to Brooklyn Bridge, as well as to Prospect Park in the other direction. This was our first try with airbnb, but it won't be our last.
We arrived and felt at the spot comfortable – also our two boys. The big window to the garden gave us the feeling of an even bigger apartment and much more space. Smith Street just a few minutes away gave us all we needed – all kind food takeaways, stores and the Subway F directly to Manhattan. We loved to stay in Brooklyn and to start our discovery all day like the NYC folks. We felt always save and we thank Zac and Jodie for the help they gave us even to manage the Airport transfers. A great place to be also whit kids. For a few day it was our home away from home.
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to New York. Thanks so much to Zachary and Jody for making us feel so welcome. A great apartment, we were really happy to come home at the end of the day and relax here. Fully equipped for all our needs and a good location. Zachary and Jody are great hosts, very friendly and helpful, and I would highly recommend staying here to everyone. We stayed for two weeks and it felt like home, wished it was longer. Thanks again Zachary and Jody
My father, sister and myself stayed in this apartment in September 2013. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable and it was very nice to sit outside in the garden. A choice of good quality restaurants and various shops were just one block away. We have enjoyed our visit to NY very much!
