The magical Roundhouse is open to groups of 16 or more who will love her ambience and treat her with love & have a wonderful time with the creativity she brings out in you! If you have fewer than 16, same min. fee. More: a charge/person.
Over looking the CT River, on a country road yet only a half hour from the five college area that includes Smith & Amherst Colleges, & ten minutes from Greenfield, MA and the lovely Shelburne Falls, the RoundHouse inspired by a dream was created to kindle connection & senses of awe, beauty, play, & creativity. In this winter time of the year, it is perfect for snuggling in &/or playing in the snow. On ten acres with a barn & paddock housing donkeys, gardens, meadows & woodlands, it is a place apart from the hubbub of the world (though with internet access). Animal tracks abound and the birds flock in mass. Water from a well is delicious!
The house is filled with games, big libraries of books and movies, (& a 9 x 12' movie screen), a sound system with great acoustics, and many musical instruments, including two baby grand pianos. Its center is an open dance or congregation space; there are big dining tables, a kitchen ready to cook in with all tools available for use, a cupola on top that looks out and up to the sky. The house has been featured on television stations, including PBS, and their show has been played overseas. There are five bedrooms - with double or queen beds as well as many delightful sleeping cubbies, that are also largely doubles. There are 30 individual beds.
The house was designed for large groups, especially those working on an artistic project together. By large I mean 16 people or more -- I have thirty individual beds and half are doubles, ...If you have fewer, you are welcome, but the cost is the base price of $1500 still. If you have more than 16 people , the cost is an additional $75 per person per day. There is wiggle room over the price especially for those staying three days or more.
I do ask that the house be left in the footprint it was in when your group arrived, including remaking beds with fresh sheets that I will have laid out for you.
It is possible for you to have me to do your food provisioning and cooking with as much as possible locally sourced and organic foods. Contact me for information about that.
I am also happy to share all that is available in the area for you to tour and see; and to provide for you at cost farm fresh food, including free ranged eggs from my neighbor!
Let me know if you have questions!
Guests have access to most of the house, exclusive of the basement, my office and bedroom...
Interaction with Guests
I am present to greet guests, give the tour, clarifying how things work; I usually tell the magical story of the ROUNDHOUSE's creation that you enter into its special mystery with extra appreciation.
Typically, I move out with my dogs and live for the weekend in a cottage on the land so I can be available for barn tours and questions you may have.
Again, I have cooked for groups and am happy to discuss that possibility with you. I am a great cook and I use as many locally sourced and organic foods as possible tailored to your likes, dislikes, allergies and special dietary needs.
My neighbors, in general, appreciate guests who come to our neighborhood. One told me once, he imagines those who are walking our country roads, looking over its hills and valleys, are feeling that they are in heaven...away from the dross of city life. In the winter, I often see animal tracks and am thrilled that the critters feel safe to come near!
When the snows melt, I will start a beautiful garden - filled with flowers, herbs and veggies.
There is no public transport in this hill town though there are buses and will be trains coming into Greenfield. The station is about fifteen minutes away. It is possible to rent cars there or to take taxis...There is ample parking space at the roundhouse. I do have a gate at the end of the drive and a fenced in yard as my neighbor has free ranging chickens and I have had pups.
What do you get when you combine a unique house and a gracious host? An amazingly singular experience, thanks to Rebecca. She graciously allowed my husband and I to stay one night on a weekend to throw my sister her 30th birthday bash. The house itself facilitates such a feeling of community, and we were playing games by the fire, cooking up meals, and talking late into the evening. In the morning we made brunch in the house's fantastic kitchen, and then people went off to various, cozy parts of the house to read or play games or just enjoy the view out the window while wrapped in a blanket.
This house is such a god-send for large groups. Not only is it a unique get-away, but you never have to worry about not having enough beds, or bringing cooking implements or dishes, or even entertainment. Everything you could possibly need, from towels, bathrobes and slippers, to firewood, wine openers, and chess boards, are available here. The house itself holds many secrets to explore, and we are all glad we got to be part of a Magical Roundhouse experience.
We loved our stay at the Roundhouse. It's a singular place and was perfectly suited for our large group of children and adults. We were welcomed warmly and felt completely at home. Thank you!
We had no idea what to expect when we arrived, but we found that an online profile can not do the this place justice. The house is full of personality from its winding corridors, nooks, and alcoves to the many chachkas you’ll find as you explore the place. The observation deck, several porches and beautiful landscape were just icing on the cake.
The house is full of personality and Rebecca has done a great job bringing it to life. She was also a wonderful host and super friendly. She stayed in her nearby cottage while we were there, so we had privacy, yet we found her so pleasant that we invited her down to join us.
We had a truly magical weekend.
Rebecca is very generous to share her beautiful slice of MA with us in this way. She is kind and responsive. We had a wonderful, laid back 50th birthday celebration at the round house. We enjoyed the endless nooks and crannies of this rustic and very well loved space, the wonderful energy and the spectacular views.
Rebecca was very nice, and showed the group everything about the house we needed to know! We had a wonderful stay in the round house, and would recommend it to future guests! Rebecca also pointed out a lovely walk not too far from the house. All in all, a great weekend!
I hosted my sisters Bachelorette party here. We had a fabulous time! The house is very unique and provided us with a lot of entertainment. It is very big and suited our needs for cooking, dancing and sleeping. I would recommend bringing your own bedding, while the host provides bedding, I would have felt more comfortable using my own. The host was very helpful...she gave me a thorough tour of the house before heading out, she also got us delicious fresh eggs from her neighbours.
There are not enough words to describe how truly magical and inspiring the Roundhouse is...our New Years stay was even greater than any of us could have imagined. Rebecca is the most accommodating host I've ever interacted with- she set us up with local farm fresh eggs and gave us a wonderful tour of the home before we got to the festivities!! The true magic of this place is felt through its unique architecture...the concentric levels of the house have a special communal feel, which I feel is very rare to come by. Every nook and cranny is absolutely gorgeous- with its library stocked full of books and stories next to a beautiful fireplace, journals strewn about that guests are encouraged to write in, elaborate costumes, starlit cupola, and every single instrument you could ever think of- and it just feels so loving and welcoming as you settle in to the eclectic atmosphere.
We danced, we played games, we sang in the cupola...everything the house was perfect for. We went on a hike and visited the lovable donkeys on the property. We felt truly tucked away from the rest of the world, even with being such a short drive from a nearby town.... but 'tucked away' should in no way reflect isolation in this case, as the house is anything but that. It's all about togetherness, with the space being so open and connected to everything on the inside, and thus so will your group of travelers feel together and connected.
Our experience at the Roundhouse was truly incomparable. It's a rare gem hidden amongst a beautiful landscape, and the more all of us talked about it afterwards, the more we believed that the house is a living, breathing story.
It's beautiful, it's grandiose, it's one-of-a-kind. Rebecca is an amazing soul, and you will talk about your experience there for a long time to come.
I love children and animals, cooking and nature...good talk, dance, good humor...helping bring all beings into right relationship.
