The space

Dar Othmane is a charming guesthouse traditionally and beautifully restored and nestled in the heart of the old Medina of Fes, Morocco. The house is more than 300 years old and features walls of polished tadelakt, original cedar wood beamed ceilings and doors which have been restored beautifully. All the furniture has been made by local craftsmen. The central courtyard is decorated with ornate zellig tiles and is a perfect place to relax after exploring the old Medina and it’s alleyways and small streets. Iraq glass has been placed in all the windows for peace and privacy, and warmth in the winter months when the evenings can be a little cooler.

The roof terrace with its panoramic views of the Medina and the surrounding hills is the perfect haven, whether you want to enjoy the sun or read in the shade. It’s offering moments of intmiacy, relaxation and meetings between the guests. Its an ideal place to spend your evenings watching the sun go down, whilst you wine and dine under the African sky.
Dar Othmane is located in the heart of the Medina yet easily accessible from the main street Talaa Kebira. It’s just a 10 minutes walk to “Bab Boujiloud”, the beautiful blue gate which is the main entry to the oldest Medina of the world. Just around the corner you can discover the souk with its hundreds of market stalls selling spices, vegetables, carpets, pottery and beautiful fabrics. The carpark of Ain Azleten is only a 5 minutes walk from the guesthouse.
We invite you to enjoy the spellbinding atmosphere of the beautiful old Medina of Fes.

There are three EnSuite bedrooms, one single and two doubles and a triple bedroom which has a private bathroom a few steps away. All bedrooms are well furnished with local handmade furniture and comfortable sized beds. Also we can offer heating and air conditioning . For the convenience of our guests free Wi Fi internet access is available.

The kitchen is on the ground floor, with modern facilities to make life that much easier. A traditional Moroccan breakfast will be served between 8am-10am on the roof terrace or in the courtyard depending on the weather.

Hicham was a very nice host. At first his family welcomed us in their riad. When it turned out that our room wasn't available there, Hicham himself walked us through the medina to another hotel where we could spend the night, at the same rate. Very well located and with the traditional Moroccan style.

Hicham was very accommodating to the point of even offering transport from the airport to his location. WiFi was not provided so that is an opportunity for his place. Breakfast was nice and prepared by his brother. I don't know if I would stay there again, but I did enjoy my stay.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS RIAD. This person and his riad is all fake!! I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was traveling with my 60 year old mother in Fes, this person was supposed to pick us up from a specific spot and of course... He didnt. So i started following the instructions provided by airbnb... Which were not accurate at all. Finally, i managed to call him and instead of apologise and come to pick us up from the place where we were (only 400mts away from the riad) he insisted that we ask some random people from the street to help us find the place (which of course we have to pay). When we arrived i asked him about rhe breakfast and he said that was not included.' (Lie #1). I asked him about the internet and he said that there was a problem in the area that everything will be fixed by the afternoon (lie #2. We went to a cafe just round the corner and internet was working). I ask for a map and he said that if i wanted one i would have to buy it (wtf??). Then he charge me some tax per day per person (i stayed in other riads in fes and marrakech and they didnt charge me anything). We have bookes the riad for three nights and at 11pm of the second night i hear someone knocking on my door, it was his brother with a cellphone saying that Hicham wanted to talk to me. Then he told me (11pm) that on the next day there will be a problem with water on the riad and that is way i have to move to a hotel of a friend if his. If you pay attention and read the other reviews two other people also say that they have to move because a certain problem with water on the riad. This is not true... When i woke up that day (after making our bag during the night) we realise that rooms that previously were closed, were now open, everything was tidy and more clean... And of course no workers on the riad or in the area. They were preparing the riad to receive new guests. They rent the same room that i have rented to someone else (probably a larger group) in spite that we were staying there and have already paid for everything. It is also a lie that there is. 24z7 reception.. There is no one there never ever. After a lot of fighting (and me showing the screenshot were saids that breakfast was included) he agree to give it to me before we moves out (as he was doing me a favour) Terrible experience, dont you ever go this place. If you check and read previous reviews you will see that everything that i am writing happened to other people... Its just that he is always making lies and saying that there is a problem with...

The double room with bathroom was quite comfortable and clean. The manager was kind, courteous and helpful when present. However this riad did not offer free wifi although it claimed to. The rooms were not lockable so when you left the building, your belongings were not secure within the building. Usually the riad was unattended, although the manager was sometimes there, we were never informed when he would be on the premises.

fantastic place, ideally located, well restored, our room upstairs was charming (although the bathroom is not directly attached to it) and the breakfast place on top is simply great! Hicham has always been there to answer our questions, would definetely come back!
