About this listing
Thanks for viewing this.
Our house is situated in Didsbury, one of Manchester's liveliest areas with lots of busy bars restaurants and cafes within a short walk. The house is very close to excellent 24 hour, high frequency bus services to the city centre, universities and hospitals. Didsbury has now been linked up to the city's tram system. We are 3 minutes walk from the West Didsbury tram stop, which connects with the city centre via Chorlton. Although close to local amenities, the street is quiet and does not suffer from traffic noise.
We have three rooms that are listed on Airbnb. Two are large en-suite rooms and there is a smaller room, which is not en-suite but which has an attractive adjacent bathroom. The other rooms are listed under "Dbl Room good access to city centre" and "Large room, good access city centre".
The room you are viewing is large, with plenty of storage space and has a king-sized bed. The room has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a shower and has recently been decorated. The room is situated at the back of the house and has a large window with a view of the (website hidden) is available in the lounge and wireless broadband is also available. A buffet style breakfast is included consisting of home made breads, cereals, fruit and yoghurt but we are happy to provide traditional cooked breakfast (£4.00 supplement), packed lunches and evening meals by prior arrangment.
You can see from our reviews that many of our guests have enjoyed our evening meals. We like to cook and we have a wide choice of meals that we can offer. All our meals are prepared from good quality fresh ingredients and all our sauces are home made. Ask us what is available if you are interested. Meals can be taken at the breakfast bar or in the dining room.
The house is well located for Manchester Airport, which can be reached by train or bus, and for the universities. Parking is on-street but safe and there is plenty of space.
We need to be advised in advance if guests wish to bring friends into the house.
Smoking is permitted in the garden.
Our kitchen is not available for guests to cook their own food as we prepare food every evening for guests and for ourselves.
I really enjoyed my stay with Bob and Christine - I just wish I could have stayed longer. Very welcoming, great location, lovely room, nice breakfast and the guests were very sociable too. Would definitely stay again.
Bob And Christine were perfect hosts. My stay was for two nights as I was on business in central Manchester. The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. The quiet road the house was on was perfect for when I got back after the hussle and bustle of Manchester City centre. Traveling into Manchester could not have been easier as the West Didsbury tram station was only 5 minutes away. Thank you Bob and Christine see you next year!
I was made very welcome by Bob and Christine and enjoyed staying at their house. It's a large Edwardian (?) house, beautifully decorated and clean, situated in leafy West Didsbury. As a woman on my own, I felt perfectly safe walking around the area and on the Saturday evening spent a pleasant few hours in nearby Burton Road where there are many restaurants, cafes and bars. I would have no hesitation in staying there again - and, in fact, would like to do so for my next trip to Manchester later this year.
I had a most enjoyable stay with Bob & Christine. The space was exactly as they advertised and I was very comfortable. What was unexpected was how delightful company Bob & Christine proved to be. I regret that my planning didn't include more time to explore Manchester and more evenings to spend enjoying dinner and chats with my wonderful hosts. Their place is an easy short walk from the tram stop (lift at station) so getting there was easy enough even with luggage. There is an extra charge for dinner with your hosts, but if you enjoy good food and good conversation it's more than worth it. Of all the places I've stayed, this was the most like a true Bed & Breakfast with scheduling times for when I would like breakfast, etc. I loved the whole experience and my comfortable room and private bath.
I was a late booking and Bob was very accommodating and helpful. The room clean and comfortable. I would happily recommend others to stay
Host welcomed us warmly and even allowed us to check in early, which we appreciated as we were just off a red-eye flight from the US. Neighborhood is quite nice and is the house. Room was as advertised: very comfortable.
Thank you for a very comfortable stay in your lovely home, which is situated in an ideal area in Didsbury. We were made to feel very welcome by Bob who greeted us and showed us round. As Bob and Christine were away for the weekend we were then looked after by the very charming Francesca. The bedroom and en-suite were immaculate and the arrangements for breakfast were excellent.
This was our first airbnb experience and we would certainly repeat it if they are all as good as this.
Thank you. We would certainly visit again.

About the Host, Bob And Christine
I retired early (4 years ago) from a professional role in order to spend more time with my camera. The camera bit didn't really work out as I spend most of my time keeping house and looking after our wonderful guests. Christine works in admin. We live in a largish Edwardian semi. We are a very sociable couple and we enjoy the social life in our community. When she is not out at work Christine is the nice one who makes cakes, bakes bread and makes our guests feel relaxed and welcome. I do most of the meeting and greeting, preparing our guest rooms, fixing breakfasts, researching local information and all the other little bits and pieces that help to make your stay memorable and enjoyable.
We both love cooking (and eating) and we enjoy preparing food for, and dining with, our guests. We try to remove processed foods from our diet as much as possible and we follow the same ethos when catering for our guests. Most of the foodstuffs we use for breakfast are home made. The meals that we provide in the evening are all cooked from fresh ingredients.
Guests seem to enjoy our house. Our house is clean but It is certainly not the tidiest house you will have seen. There are usually a few bits of clutter lying around. Books, newspapers and grandchildren's art work are often sprinkled around the place. I always tell Christine that a bit of clutter adds atmosphere to a home. She doesn't always agree.
