We'd love to welcome you to our gracious, historic home right in the heart of Sutter Creek. Steps away from tasting rooms, restaurants, shops, live music and the historic sites that make Sutter Creek so special. Nestled on our charming, quiet side street with a private back garden, Serafina House is an oasis of unfussy luxury and Sutter Creek "la dolce vita." Enjoy our famous kitchen, stocked pantry, spa bathroom, classic sunroom, music room, fireplace, garden and our old fashioned front porch.

The space
Our kitchen is a chef's dream: enjoy a six-burner Viking range, two ovens, a stocked pantry, dishwasher, large refrigerator and freezer, plus plenty of cooking tools, fine vintage china, and glassware. Our beds are comfortable and regularly earn rave reviews. Our master spa bath is a favorite feature for many guests, and our second bath has vintage charm and a stall shower. Our classic sunroom is a special retreat in every season, and serves as our third private bedroom with a comfy (!) queen-sized futon. Our music room / parlor features a tuned upright piano, guitar and bass ukulele, a gas fireplace, and mini-library (kids books to classics). Our dining room includes a small bar. Gracious open living spaces, cozy and comfy nooks, and thoughtful touches are designed to welcome, surprise and delight our guests.

Our home is historic with modern comforts: central heat and air, fast wifi, a Bluetooth music system. We provide fine linens and towels, great bath products, a stocked pantry, complimentary coffee, teas, soft drinks and a bottle of local wine. We don't have a TV-- we and our regular guests think this is one of the magic things that make stays here so good. The old fashioned porch and private garden with its small deck, patio and lawn are just right for socializing or lounging.

Our home sits between Sutter Creek's Main Street and Spanish Street. Despite being in the walkable heart of historic downtown, Serafina House is quiet, and our garden feels like a private oasis. Sutter Creek is perfectly situated for exploring Amador's renowned wine region, and the iconic towns Gold Rush towns on Hwy 49. Let us know if you want hikes, fishing, or skiing ideas -- or local tips for your favorite themed tour (antiques, dive bars, swimming holes, vintage christmas, gold panning, farm tours, history?). We're happy helping you discover our beautiful town and special region.

Guest access
Guests have access to our entire home, including laundry room with washer and dryer, and our yard. Free parking for up to three cars in tandem is available in our driveway--or street parking is available across from our home.

Other things to note
Our home has two bedrooms (outfitted with a king and a queen-size bed respectively). In addition we have a beautiful, old fashioned sun room at the back of our home outfitted with a futon. Our housekeeping staff will make the futon into a bed (its comfort is enhanced by a memory foam topper and luxury linens) if you notify us you will require an extra bed. This sunroom has its own door to our back deck and back yard, and its own small heater to take any chill off winter nights and mornings, as well as a ceiling fan to welcome breezes through the screened windows in summer.

We love helping guests connect with all things local. Don't be shy about asking us for recommendations of things to do, or for resources in and around our area. If you are on social media, we post information about our home as well as about local and regional news and events on most social media platforms.

As we note in our check-in info: We have a long driveway to the left of our home, which will accommodate three cars parked in tandem (one behind the other). There is also street parking along the fence just across from our home. We suggest placing one car on the street to avoid being hemmed in by others who may park opposite our drive (we're working with City on getting a 'no parking' sign for that spot). The opening of our drive is narrow so take it slow as you slip between our porch and our neighbor's home. Entering Hayden Alley from our cross street, Spanish Street, (vs Main Street) will make it easier to turn into our drive. It is also much easier to turn (right or left) from Hayden on to Spanish Street when leaving than it is to turn from Hayden onto Main Street.

Location

Sutter Creek, California, United States

Sutter Creek is a special town in the heart of the California gold country. It's friendly and authentic--a thriving small town which celebrates and treasures shared connections with friends, family and neighbors--and connections to local history and scenic beauty. It's also an increasingly dynamic place--welcoming new tasting rooms to showcase our region's outstanding wine region; celebrating seasons and traditions with unique events, and boasting imaginative one-of-a-kind shops (many of which are appearing in thoughtfully restored historic storefronts).

We love our location. Sutter Creek's Main Street is just steps away, and the whole town is walkable and provides storybook views at nearly every turn. Yet our Alley is peaceful and quiet enough to let you hear frogs in the evening and birds in the morning.

I feel lucky to split my time between Amador County and San Francisco, and I love helping people discover Sutter Creek and our "Gold Country" region. I crave time to sit on the porch--and both Opal Street House and Serafina House have great old fashioned porches. Opal Street's is even equipped with a swing. It makes me happy to take a break from time plugged into media and work to gather friends / family for a walk on a back road, an informal meal, wading in the creek, or a day of exploring. I love life in SF, but I also love listening to the barn owl who flies over Serafina House at night, picking flowers in our gardens, walking on Spanish Street with my coffee early in the morning as Sutter Creek wakes up, or eating a just-picked nectarine while standing under the trees at Opal Street. Michael's and my best ideas of unfussy luxury, fun, and the kind of welcome we give close friends combine at our family homes in Sutter Creek. Opal Street House and Serafina House have distinct personalities and attributes--but both are houses for la dolce vita. Friends from Hawaii once told Michael and me that wherever we go we make an Ohana house--a house where extended family gathers--and where everyone who gathers is extended family. We hope you feel that way when you come to stay.
