The Space

Hidden Inn is a beautiful & modern fully furnished Japanese vacation rental townhouse which can accommodate up to 6 adults. When you stay at Hidden Inn, you rent the whole house and can come and go as you please. Ideal for couples, families or groups of friends traveling together. The house is fully equipped and centrally located to make your stay in Kyoto as comfortable and relaxing as possible. A short walk to shops, restaurants and sightseeing, but in a quiet residential neighbourhood, away from traffic and noise.

CONVENIENCE OF A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Hidden Inn provides all the convenience of a home away from home. Guests may come and go as they like, cook in the townhouse themselves without having to pay for expensive restaurant or hotel food every single meal.

Hidden Inn management tries to adopt a flexible approach to ensure guests needs are accommodated to the best of our abilities.

FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN SO GUESTS CAN EAT IN

The townhouse has a fully equipped kitchen. Guests therefore have the option of buying takeout (perhaps sushi or a bento?) and bringing it home to eat or cooking themselves. All appliances, plates, cutlery, utensils, etc necessary are available and ready to use.

ENTERTAINMENT FOR A RAINY DAY

The townhouse has high speed fiber optic internet with WiFi, a large flatscreen TV, Sony Playsation 3 with over 40 games, DVD/Bluray player etc to ensure that guests have something to do if the weather turns bad or they just need a break from sightseeing.

QUIET & CONVENIENT LOCATION

Hidden Inn management chose the location of the property very carefully. This is to ensure that guests can relax and enjoy their vacation without the typical noise associated with large hotels and roadside traffic. The house is within a residential area with a strong sense of community. You are sure to see the friendly locals as you come and go and experience local atmosphere which is likely to be quite different from home.

Hidden Inn Kamitoryo-cho is located in a quiet downtown neighbourhood away from major traffic routes but within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, convenience stores, post office, banks and tourist attractions such as temples, gardnes and shrines. It is less than 1500m from the city center and less than 10min by taxi from Kyoto station.

It is only a short walk to Toyokuni shrine, Kyoto National Museum, Sanjusangendo temple, and the world heritage listed Kiyomizu temple. Restaurants, cafes, banks, post office, convenience stores etc are just a short stroll. The nearby Keihan railway provides access to other parts of Kyoto including the beautiful Tofukuji to the south and city center to the north and also to Osaka in less than an hour.

WARM HOSPITALITY & INSIDER LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

A vast range of maps, guides and recommendations is made available to guests so that they can enjoy Kyoto and get the most out of their stay. The manager has lived in Kyoto for more than 15 years and is keen to share insight with guests.

  • We like the privacy that Keith’s lovely townhouse could provide. Keith is a great host and always responded to e-mail or any request immediately. His house is located at the center of an interesting neighborhood but without traffic noise. It’s perfect for our elderly parents and us. If you are driving, you can also find inexpensive parking nearby (for 200-300 ¥ from (phone number hidden)).

  • All very positive. The location is wonderful, situated in a very quiet residential neighborhood and nestled in between other houses. There is plenty of space, certainly for two. The downstairs is pretty dark but this seems typical of this kind of Kyoto townhouse -- the balcony is amazing. Air conditioners, appliances etc. are all new and work perfectly.

Thanks very much for taking the time to share your comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and it was a pleasure hosting you. One of the main reasons we opened Hidden Inn in this location is the quiet residential neighborhood you mentioned. We were hoping that guests could experience what it is like to live in a Japanese community.

  • This was a perfect place for my family of five to stay. It was comfortable and we had what we needed. The kitchen was key! Really appreciated the late check out for our kids too. All in all a great place!!

  • A stunning little house hidden in an interesting part of Kyoto, close to small shops and some of the best sightseeing parts in town. We found the house to be very clean and extremely well equipped - we couldn't have asked for more. Keith came by personally to ensure that we had everything we'd need. He really cares about his guests what manifests in various details (excellent washing machine, tasteful furniture, welcome snacks, etc.). I can only recommend this place!

  • A little bit hard to find at first, but great location and great apartment once you get your bearings!
Very close to the heart of downtown Kyoto. One subway station away from all the shopping and food.

Ample of space for our group of 5! Loved the separate shower and toilet! Loved the strong and hot shower! And fancy bidet!
Love having a washer/dryer combo! And it was so easy to use with Keith's instruction manual!
    Clean and very homey!

Great meeting Keith, as he was a pleasure to work with and quick to reply. Punch in combo is the best for group traveling! Check in and out procedure was efficient and easy.

Would definitely see if he will have me back again, the next time I am in Kyoto :) that way, I could enjoy the open balcony more.

  • We stayed at Hidden Inn for 3 days and it was very good. It is located 5 minutes from a train station which can take you downtown. It had wifi and good facilities and Keith was quick in answering any queries we had and even helped us booking a table at a good restaurant. I would defintely recommend it and stay at the same place again.

  • We stayed at the Hidden Inn in mid February. Although it could accommodate more people, we felt that there was plenty of space for the 2 of us. My initial reaction when I first walked in was how clean the place was. There was also some complimentary snacks & drinks provided so that we did not have to rush out immediately to the convenience store (which was only just around the corner). The house contains all the "mod-cons" like in your own home such as air-conditioner on both ground and first floor, heater (which came in very handy during our stay), large TV with a Sony Playstation, well equipped kitchen and washer and dryer.

If you really want a good shower experience too, this is place will provide this for you! In addition, there is also a balcony off the bedroom with table and chairs for your enjoyment.

The location is in a quiet area yet close to many attractions such as downtown, Gion and to public transport. We found that taxis are reasonably priced in Kyoto.

We also found the host, Keith, very helpful and responsive to our emails and questions which made our stay even more pleasant.

    Property recommend. Thank you Keith

  • Hidden Inn was a Godsend! When we arrived it was immaculately clean, with a homely feel and some welcome snacks. Hidden Inn has the BEST shower I have ever experienced! The balcony is beautiful and we were lucky enough to have a snowy day in Kyoto which meant we could enjoy the house to its fullest potential. The washer and dryer was an added bonus after three weeks of solid travelling and snowboarding. This place is definitely worth staying in! Also has a great location within walking distance of shops, restaurants and a bike store to hire bikes!

  • We found the townhouse to be in excellent shape. As a family of five, with adult children, the space was close but not uncomfortable. As the owner explains, this is typical for Japan. He provided detailed instructions and we had no problems at all.

The location is quiet yet close to many attractions and to public transportation.

  • Keith's place was truly a hidden gem! Plenty of space for 4 adults with everything you would need for any length of stay be it 3 days or a month!

We did not have a chance to meet Keith in person, yet he was always immediate to respond with information about the house or the neighborhood. His directions were very precise and helpful in the Taxi. He was also very gracious to extend our checkout time by 3 hours which gave us and additional morning run in Kyoto.

Lastly, I have to mention the keyless entry to the house! Simple but so useful for a group of people with vacation brain;-)

    thanks Keith!
