My charming and comfortable apartment is an urban gem. Ideal for a single traveler. Located in lovely Congress Park within walking distance to City Park, Colefax, coffee shops and restaurants. Come, stay & explore!

The Space

Enjoy the private room and the apartment for $60 a night.

A sanctuary in the city to relax, reflect and rejuvenate while visiting Denver and the Rockies. My 2 bedroom apartment is centrally located within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, museums, parks, music venues, yoga classes and more. Less than 15 minutes to downtown and the convention center. A breeze for parking with public transportation options just around the corner.

Located in historic Congress Park, a vibrant mix of urban culture and architectural variety gives the neighborhood an eclectic flair. The building dates back to 1945. My apartment has is 750 sqft with original hardwood floors and casement windows. The original windows add to the ambiance but frankly also adds to the acoustics of living in the city.
My apartment is located on the north east corner of the building and gets brilliant sunlight. The decor is minimal yet charming, the bedroom has a super comfy queen size pillow top bed-ideal for the solo traveler. The mid-century bathroom is in pristine condition and the kitchen is stocked with cook and dinning ware, so linger at your leisure and nurture yourself. Fresh linens and towels as well as bath gels will be provided for your convenience. I maintain a shoe free environment.

I live at the apartment yet due to the nature of my work I am rarely home and aside from an initial meeting, it can be rare that you see me. If you would like the entire apartment for your accommodations this may be an option depending on the dates. Send me an email and I am happy to discuss the possibility and pricing.

During the months of summer the building utilizes a swamp cooling system. Cool air is drawn into the space by opening the small antique milk door. It works beautifully and keeps the temperature nice and mild-it can get a little warmer on very hot days so there is a small fan available to further circulate the air. I find it comfortable. Those who prefer arctic conditions over summer breezes- might like to book a stay during the fall.

Parking is available on the street. You can usually find parking right out front during the day and early evening. When arriving later in the evening you may have to go one block over to Milwaukee but the parking is a cinch and the neighborhood is safe and quiet.

The Denver Bicycle share is a great way to travel around Denver. I am thrilled to announce that a new B station has been added just one block from the apartment. A 24 hour access pass costs $8 and $20 gets you a rental pass for the week. You can buy a pass on line or at any B station. There are stations scattered through out the city for convenient pick up and drop off. A fun way to roll.

The farmers market is a lovely walk away. You can get everything you need in the morning at the farmer's market on the City Park Esplanade. Buy fresh locally grown vegetables, honey straight from the hive, breads and other delicious fare through the month of October.

My apartment has the character and charm for simple living. While there is space for your morning yoga practice, I don't have a TV or microwave-but I am happy to say I now have internet as of August. I like reading, snail mail and leather work-you are welcome to try your hand at these wares located in the bedroom chest of drawers if you are so inclined to indulge, as well as other arts and crafts supplies- a vintage backgammon board and small eclectic library.

Smoking is not allowed in or around the building.

I find that my cell phone reception while in the apartment
varies from good to moderate.

The water can get very hot in both the shower and the kitchen, you might have to adjust the temperature while bathing.

There is a trash dumpster just outback and cleaning supplies for use.

It is an honor and pleasure to open my home to savvy travelers looking for a peaceful and inspiring space right in the heart of Denver. Please come stay and experience my little urban dwelling.

Let me know if you have any questions, it would be my pleasure to host you!

Thank you!

Guest Access

You will have a room with a full size bed, use of the kitchen and all the accouterments including refrigerator and gas stove. A cozy nook for dinning and a hip living area for relaxing.
A shared bath-super clean and tidy.

Interaction with Guests

I have a diverse schedule. From time to time I will not be home-but house sitting in town. Other times I work from home and I am in and out. I enjoy getting to know my guests-having tea at a cafe or having dinner-perhaps at the Ethiopian restaurant around the corner.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood is such a wonderful mix of urban delight. You can take a peaceful walk for blocks touring the historic bungaloos and arts and craft homes- lovely. And just 1 block away is Colefax where you can find coffee shops, restaurants, bars, The Tattored Cover a locally owned book store-yoga studios and cycling classes. Again, you are just 3 blocks away from City Park which has Jazz in the Park during the summer months and on Sundays there is a famers market on the Esplanad at East High School yet another historical structure.

Getting around

The apartment is near several bus lines. There are b-cycle rental bikes-within 2 blocks-a great way to get around town. We have To Go cars-notify me prior to your arrival if you want to use the service in order to get a key. There is so much to explore.

  • My stay was everything I was hoping for and SO much more. I felt like it was sort of a last minute arrangement, booking only a week or two in advanced, and for the price I was really impressed. The bed was nice and comfy. I was in town for a business event and Mignon was very respectful and considerate. There was a map and brochures of local restaurants and other businesses. The location is just a few blocks away from the bus lines. I highly recommend anyone who needs a place to stay in down town Denver book with Mignon. She's awesome!

  • I had a great stay at Mignon's place and would recommend it to anyone who needed a clean and comfortable room for a bargain price. I was there only to sleep, but found it completely comfortable and meeting my needs. Mignon was very communicative--prompt in responding to any calls or messages--and accommodating. She even purchased an alarm clock for me while I was there since my cellphone had died and I only had a car charger with me. If you are a very light sleeper, you COULD be disturbed by traffic outside the bedroom window, as there are cars going by that you will hear with the windows open. I personally slept through it fine, but some might be sensitive. If I need to go to Denver again, I will most likely stay with Mignon!

  • Pros: Mignon is nice, great neighborhood
Cons: No wireless internet, no air conditioning, noisy street

Don't stay here if you need to be connected. No wireless internet, plus, neither Verizon or AT&T cellular networks worked very well.

    Response from Mignon:

Hello Dennis, I am sorry to hear that your stay was not comfortable. My apartment is purposely designed for simple living and relaxation which my description includes It is clearly indicated in my listing that cell reception is moderate and that there is no internet-but there are 4 coffee shops with free WiFi in the neighborhood within walking distance which I listed in my neighborhood guide and on the "Colfax Places to go" map framed in the kitchen. I will make it a point to update my listing description to specify that the cooling system is a swamp cooler and how to best use it. I just purchased a fan to help circulate the cool air more efficiently. Oh and yes, it is also indicated in my listing that it is an urban dwelling complete with the sound of the city. I am sorry that you missed all of that when you chose my place for your accommodations. My place is a sanctuary and it has been called peaceful for reasons in contrast to the noise-I am sorry you weren't able to experience it.

  • I stayed with Mignon for two nights in June. She is a gracious host with a comfortable, clean apartment in a good location - near public transportation, bike share, and a nice city park. Mignon has a wonderful perspective on life, and has had some fascinating life adventures - it was a great pleasure to meet her and get to know her a bit over some delicious Ethiopian food in her neighborhood. I highly recommend a stay with Mignon if you are looking for a friendly place to stay in Denver.

  • Wow! What a treasure of a space and a host. Mignon is a gem. Her apartment is sunny, peaceful, and has beautiful energy. The neighborhood is full of old houses and apartment buildings with charming tree-filled blocks that make walking a delight. It's very close to (but just far enough from) Colfax and all the shops, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and people-watching it offers (yay for Hooked On Colfax Coffee and Tattered Cover bookstore!). Her building is on a corner of old narrow streets, and the steady flow of one-way traffic on one side is like having a river right outside the window. I found it soothing! When Mignon was home, she was a lovely and gracious host, full of creative and worthwhile conversation. When she was out (which was much of the time), I felt right at home in her space. I would recommend Mignon's apartment to friends, family, and strangers alike who are looking for a temporary home in Denver, and a new friend who can offer lots of good tips for where to go, what to do, and how to just BE in Denver. Thank you, Mignon!

I am an urban dweller, mountain lover, deep sea diver, art admirer, life explorer. When I am not walking pooches or shopping for a yoga studio you might find me passing the keys to guests who are staying in Denver at an Airbnb rental. I am a concierge for good people, amazing places and fine things. Originally from southern California, I grew up traveling with my family and got the bug. I've sailed all over the Caribbean, camped my way through the Pacific northwest, crossed the pond, but there is so much more to explore. I have been in Denver for many years now. Professionally, I wear many hats under an umbrella of concierge services I offer including house sitting/property management, personal organizer and I am so excited to be the buyer and merchandiser for Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation. I use to work with production for local music events. I am extremely passionate about bees and have 2 hives sitting in a clover field in south Denver. Living in one of the countries most beautiful states, I take advantage of my back yard by hiking, camping and snow shoeing. In town, I venture out to galleries, museums, concerts and supporting independent shops and restaurants. The people in Denver are notoriously friendly, I have met such amazing folks here that it makes it difficult to leave. The apartment is a sanctuary in the city with an easy charm. A lovely place to regroup and rejuvenate. I am delighted to offer savvy travelers accommodations at a reasonable price-and I hope it lends for more room to explore what the city may have in store. Please feel free to call with any questions. Happy Travels! Namaste. Mignon
