We definitely enjoyed our stay at casa de Helena. We loved the space and the location. The space it's self was extremely relaxing and peaceful and just had wonderful energy. The neighborhood was quaint. There are many things to do in this area but you need transportation. We had a horrible mishap with the rental car but Helena was there to help us get it figured out. She found us a diver whom we loved very much. He didn't speak much English and we didn't speak much Spanish but nevertheless I couldn't have asked for a better transportation experience. Overall our stay was perfect and we are so grateful to Helena for all her help and accommodations. Thank you, pura vida !

We really enjoyed our stay in this charming casa. Helena was warm and welcoming, stopping by in the mornings to make sure we had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio and eating area, where we sat to enjoy the song birds in the early morning and to star gaze after dark. It is a noisy place, only because of nature, so bring earplugs. Howler monkeys and roosters make their presence known very early in the morning. There is no hot water to the kitchen or bathroom sinks, so be prepared to use the electric water pot for washing dishes and faces. It's a great place to stay for wind surfing on Lake Arenal, but not so convenient for some of the other popular places to visit. Plan a long drive on winding, unpaved roads to visit national parks. Scenery is breathtaking on the way!

Helena's house is nice and cozy and in a safe rural neighborhood within driving distance of wind and kite surfing which was our key activity. Helena was great, gave us oranges from her orange tree and drove us to the nearest gas station (10 km+) to get a tire repaired. A great host.

Casa Helena was fantastic! Not to mention Helena was fantastic!! My husband and I enjoyed 4 days here and loved every second of it. The house was comfy and cozy, we loved the yard because it's the rainforest! We saw some wildlife back there as well! We enjoyed the clean bathroom and open living room/kitchen. It was just a few minute drive to a lot of great restaurants we discovered as well. Helena makes delicious all natural chocolate that we also enjoyed. Helena also had a lot of great recommendations for us, to which we took and had a great time. Kayaking on the lake with Beth & Jeff, a few restaurants and ziplining! All together, it was a great experience and we hope to come back to stay with Helena again some day! PURA VIDA!

Helena met us the day after we arrived because we arrived late. She was very helpful in providing information on things to do, places to see, etc. The house is about an hour from any major towns and consequently, the food options are limited. If you are looking for a more rural Costa Rica retreat, then this is a great place. The national park is very close and just driving around is gorgeous. Helena has everything laid out nicely when you get there and is very easy to get in touch with. Overall a great experience!
