About this listing
I live in a two bedroom condo, on the third floor in the heart of Andersonville with my partner and our sweet, well-behaved dog. It is truly a beautiful space with hardwood floors, a bright and open layout, private, and very quiet. Cozy in the winter and lost of space to chill in the summer, having both a front and back deck. Both decks get both direct sunlight and shade and just a great place to relax.
Room can accomodate one or two people with firm, comfortable full-size mattress and a clean private bath and shower. There is shampoo/conditioner and soap, hairdryer available to anybody who packed light.
Upon arriving I will give you your set of keys and a guide full of neighborhood tips and house instructions.
We have fast-speed WIFI as well and parking is always available out front with no charge.
You are welcome to use the kitchen and any of the appliances: dishwasher, juicer, microwave, fridge... etc. There is plenty of space in the fridge if you get tired of dining out or just want to save some bucks.
I live within blocks of the lake (close to beaches and a bike trail that can take you all the way to downtown) and a block and a half from the redline which will get you to Michigan Ave, Millenium Park, Museums, Wrigleyville (to catch a game), Chinatown, Lincoln park, Lakeview; many of the hotspots for clubbing, dining, and shopping!!
Andersonville is a very safe neighborhood with great boutiques, independent artsy shops, ethnic and american dining. We live within a block a way from one of the best breakfasts spots in the city as well as a few blocks from an excellent coffee shop. A couple blocks away in the other direction is a section of the neighborhood called "Asian on Argyle", with my authentic asian restaurant and shops. There are also a couple health/organic grocery stores within walking distance.
The redline train is a 5-10 minute walk from our place. Fare is 2.25 one way to get to downtown.
Just clean up after yourself/selves if using the common areas. No smoking inside the home.
Elisabeth and Kanika were both very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. The listing is exactly as described and we felt like we were staying with friends instead of people we'd just met. The condo is lovely, very calm and quiet, and within a 5-10 minute walk to both public transit and great restaurants and shops. We felt very safe walking in the neighborhood after sundown and loved the variety of the area for restaurants. Aashi is one of the calmest dogs we've ever met and we liked having her around. Elisabeth and Kanika make themselves available for any tips or questions but then just kind of let you do your own thing. In the future, we will definitely see if they have availability in their home when traveling to Chicago. Their condo and their hospitality are so much better than a hotel.
TLDR: These are wonderful people, with a great apartment in a beautiful location AND an absolutely adorable dog!
* Kanika and Liz were welcoming, helpful, and very very funny-- I'm only sorry we weren't able to visit a bit more. Both ladies were able to give us some very useful insights into where to go and how to get around. (Thank you again, both of you!)
* The utterly adoggable Miss Aashi was a very welcome sight at the end of a long day.
* On the top floor of a 3-story building, with a beautiful view of Andersonville.
* Bring hangers, because the room you'll be using has a very roomy closet, and if you hang stuff, it means you haven't got to fold it!
* If you can, arrive sometime after 9am on a weekday-- it'll make parking way way WAY less crazy.
* The room gets a lot of sunlight; if you're not a morning person, bring a sleeping mask. If you are (like me!), be ready for a gorgeous wake-up call.
* DOGS EVERYWHERE. So many people walking dogs! (Got pets of your own? Stop in at Jameson Loves Danger-- a very nice little pet store just a few blocks away.)
* BAKERIES EVERYWHERE. La Patisserie (right near the Argyle stop) & the Swedish place in particular are awesome.
* Public transit is a breeze to get to, with the Argyle stop well within strolling distance.
* Lots of shopping / restaurants, if you're especially tired at the end of the day. (We loved Giordano's pizza place-- but be prepared, since they take Chicago-style pizza VERY seriously!)
* For how big and busy it is, we found it to be nice and quiet.
Liz and Kanika, we can't thank you enough for a wonderful weekend! Your condo is so beautiful and felt just like home. We wouldn't change a single thing about last weekend. We really appreciated that you honored our privacy but kept yourselves available should we need anything. And we LOVED your dog! The neighborhood was so welcoming and we felt very safe walking to/from the train and around all the local shops. We highly recommend staying with Liz and Kanika, and if you do, be sure to check out the Bongo room! It's the best little diner, just a 5-minute walk away! Thanks again Liz! :)

Elisabeth made us feel right at home! She was super accommodating for our late night arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. The condo is exactly as described - artsy condo with great location. It was a short walk to great restaurants and stores.
First airbnb experience couldn't have been sweeter. Excellent accommodations and great hosts. I felt like queen for a day with my own private bath and a clean, quiet place to rest. Location was perfect--awesome northside neighborhood with quick access to the red line and, in the other direction, shops and restaurants of Andersonville. After a little too much walking in bad shoes, I got marooned at a friend's house, and Liz was kind enough to bring me all of my stuff! Thank you!!!
Elisabeth and Kanika are absolute gems, Aashi is an awesome dog, and the room is fantastic. I just can't say enough wonderful things about my two night stay in their home, a wonderful introduction to Airbnb.
The neighborhood is clean and quiet, but parking (on the street) is at a premium. If you need to park your car, plan on parking WAY down the street from the building.
Getting to just about anywhere is convenient. Wrigley Field is about a two mile walk (I walked it) from their apartment or just a couple of stops away on the red line. The nearest red line station to the apartment is Argyle, and it's also in a safe and quiet part of the neighborhood.
The room is just as pictured, you'll have a private bathroom which is huge and beautiful, and the common areas of the apartment are artsy and fun.
If you need to stay in Chicago, definitely consider staying with Elisabeth and Kanika.
Liz, Kanika, and Aashi (their sweet dog!) are all very lovely and made us feel very welcomed. They also let us arrive early in the morning, which was very nice of them! The apartment is located close to the train and buses. About a 10-15 min walk and you reach the lake. Also, it is only a 5 min walk to restaurants in either direction.

About the Host, Elisabeth
Hello!!! My name is Liz and I am currently a full-time student studying Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture and working as a Shiatsu Practitioner/Massage Therapist. I live with my partner, Kanika, who works in the loop as a Professional Counselor, and our sweet dog, Aashi. Both Kanika and I have a pretty busy schedule during the week but during the weekend we often chill at home or spend time out dining with time with friends and family.
A little about me: I traveled a large portion of my twenties (India, South America, Central America, Asia) but now am settled down in hometown of Chicago to be close to family. I love Chicago, it is a great city with great people and, of course, great food! I enjoy making people feel comfortable and happy, as I experienced LOTS on my travels. I am pretty flexible and open-minded, but I do like to keep a clean, calm, nurturing home. My hobbies and interests include yoga, cooking, painting, photography, health and wellness, and of course, traveling and adventures.
