The apartment has views of downtown, and gets in plenty of natural daylight. It has a full kitchen and also a big bathroom with a tub. Coin-op laundry facilities on site.
The building is safe, quiet and on a friendly and clean block. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars and galleries in the neighborhood and only three blocks walk from Union Square. Sorry, no pets allowed. No smoking.
I live in this apt when I am in San Francisco, which is roughly half of the month, and have most of my personal belongings here. I expect visitors to be respectful of my things. I work in Norway, thus I have a good friend of mine helping me with all the practical stuff. He is responsible for the keys and will be the person to contact if there are any problems. He lives only a few blocks away and will also be the one you hand back the keys to and the one who will be checking on the place once you leave.
Please make sure to call or text my friend (number provided once booked) at the very least 24 hours before your arrival so that you can schedule an exact meeting time with him. Let him know if your flight is cancelled or delayed ASAP so that he doesn't have to waste a lot of his time waiting if you are going to be late. We have had some problems with this in the past, thus I'm specifying this now to save both you and my friend a lot of time and problems. He is very busy and needs time to plan accordingly.
Check in time is after 3:00 pm and check out is no later than 11:00 am. This is because we have other guests coming and staying prior to you, and we need time to properly clean the apt.
If you haven't gotten in touch with my friend 12 hours prior to check in, please write me here ASAP. I work in Europe and if you are outside of the apt there is little I can do from there. This way I have time to make other arrangements.
Upon arrival he will show you around and explain the most essential things you need to know about he apt. We clean the apt after every visit, change the bed, wash the sheets etc., but I expect guests to do ALL of their own dishes if you have used any. Please leave the place as it was when you checked in.
Thank you for your consideration and have a pleasant stay!
The apartment is in a fantastic location and had great wifi. Within walking distance to Union Square and the area is really safe. Some nice bars and restaurants really close by too. We walked to Fisherman's Wharf twice there and back and it took us around 35-40 min to walk and is a fun walk and you can go through China Town.
The apartment wasn't quite as we'd hoped, it felt more like we were crashing with a friend rather than paying to stay somewhere. There were no clean towels for us left out to use but luckily we had beach towels with us. It didn't really feel like the place had been cleaned for us arriving as the bath mat was dirty and there was leftover opened food in the fridge, as well as floor in bathroom dirty and dust on surfaces in bed/living area. I understand the host lives here half the month so it didn't bother us that their belongings were in the apartment but there was no space left for us to put any of our belongings either hung up or even in a spare drawer. In the bathroom we had to put our stuff on the floor. It didn't have any of the special touches that we've found to be common with airbnb listings e.g. welcome info pack, towels left out for use, bathroom amentities left out to use, tea/coffee left out for use. It wasn't clear what we could and couldn't use so we just didn't use anything. However it's a great location and if this sort of stuff doesn't bother you then you will have a great stay here.
Great location and apartment for a weekend. The cleanliness of the place could be improved though.
My sister and I really enjoyed staying at the apartment while touring the city. It's in a central location that is easy to catch transportation to.
Barbara and her friend were very accommodating and quick to respond. No complaints!
Highly recommended! The apartment is located close to restaurants, bars, shopping and transportation. Just as described, small but very sunny and comfortable, clean (fresh towels, bed linens, etc.), quiet, and the neighbors are very friendly. Check-in and check-out was a breeze as well as the communication leading up to the stay. Jamil was waiting for us with the keys, explained where everything was and gave us a few recommendations on places to eat and local bars, since this was our first time in San Francisco. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again. Thank you!
Had no issues checking in or out. Good communication leading to the actual stay. My calls and texts were always answered promptly.
The appartment was in a really good spot in down town with easy access to everywhere. It is just like shown in the pictures, small but had everything we were looking for a short stay.
Eventhough we did not meet her personally, everything went fluently and we got in and out with no trouble what so ever. Would reccommend!
The accommodations are just as described, in an absolutely wonderful, central location. I was here on business so I pretty much just slept when at the apartment but it was a nice little place. I tended to sleep with the windows open to keep the heater from over-doing it but I will never complain about fresh air.
About the Host, Barbara
I am a flight attendant currently working in Norway, but I live in San Francisco. I love to travel and I do it as much as possible, whenever I have time off, which is pretty often.
