About this listing
View of our 'little patch of paradise called SLO' from the hill/mountain behind our home. Our house is located just out of view on the far left of this picture.
Enjoy use of 2 bedrooms (each with a double bed) and 1 bathroom. Access also to kitchen, living room (with fireplace) and backyard (with bbq and table/chairs). Don't forget there is also a hot tub to relax in after a days' activities! We, the owners, welcome you into our home - we may or may not be home during your stay. If we are in residence, we will occupy what we call the 'nest' (upstairs master bedroom) and promise to not impose upon your time here (unless it is to perhaps share a glass of wine!) :)
We are located close to a shopping center, the airport and the train station. Eight wineries are within a bike ride or 5 minute drive from our house. There is a stunning hill to hike nearby and various other hikes within SLO environs. We are 10 minutes from several incredible beaches and seaside towns. Downtown SLO and the Mission, the creek through town, quaint shops and a variety of bars and restaurants are less than 5 minutes away.
Whether you are just needing a roof over your head or access to accommodation that feels 'more like home' than a hotel room... this is the place for you!
Guests are encouraged to make use of the entire downstairs - kitchen, living room, and back yard (including hot tub). A washer and dryer is also available at no additional charge. Our philosophy is to provide our guests with a comfortable and enjoyable stay... we may make use of the kitchen, but not so as to interfere with use by our guests. :)
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting and chatting with our guests over a cup of coffee in the morning or a cocktail at days end. Depending on our schedule and the wishes of our guests, we have been known to join for wine tasting, a tour of the area, dinner, etc. We pretty much take it as it comes! :)
We live in a quiet residential area with a fantastic park across the street. Step out our door and the area provides for bike rides, runs, and hikes.
A bus stop is just a block away. The train station is a 5 minute drive and the airport is about 4 blocks from the house (we are talking a small and quaint airport so one seldom is aware just how close the airport is).
Smoking is not allowed, inside or out. Pets may be accepted on a case by case basis. The house is suitable for children but not child proof. Access to wifi is available via a passcode with your own personal laptop/device. Linens and towels will be provided (including beach towels for the hot tub or to use for a visit to the sea!). Please respect this house as if it is your own.
We stayed one night here at the comfy home in paradise! Robin & Doug weren't home when we arrived but they left a nice note letting us know they'd be home later and to make ourselves at home. We made dinner in their beautiful kitchen and dined al fresco on their gorgeous back patio. It was a perfect evening spent with my family. The beds were super comfortable and their living room/bathroom were perfect for 4 people to use comfortably. The house was clean and welcoming. I would highly recommend friends/family stay here while visiting SLO.
We stayed at Robin and Doug's house for our daughters graduation from Cal Poly. Their home was perfect! Very comfortable! Being close to a grocery store was a plus.
Robin and Doug are very friendly and responsive to all enquiries. Their place is so homey, tidy and well equipped. The experience of the stay is very pleasant. I will definitely recommend the place to my friends for future stay!
My Mother, Grandmother and I stayed at Doug and Robin's cheerful, cozy home in SLO for Mother's Day Weekend. It was our first AirBnB experience, and I'm so glad it was with Doug & Robin. They were wonderful, gracious hosts - very organized with home instructions and prompt with all of their communication. The house is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. The beds were scrumptiously cozy. We also enjoyed a relaxing time soaking in the hot tub. We would definitely recommend staying here.
I had prayed for a place to create a homey atmosphere for my daughter to recover from her surgery...this was exactly what I had prayed for--even down to the perfect, but unexpected details of a nearby running trail, peaceful back yard, fully stocked kitchen, comfy sofa, automatic icemaker and stretchable shower head! Thank you Doug and Robin soooooooooo much for your kind hospitality !
Robin and Doug were very quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to our stay. We had a great time in this very spacious house. We would definitely stay here again.

About the Host, Robin And Doug
My husband and I are both retired and absolutely love San Luis Obispo (I call it my little patch of paradise). When not travelling, we enjoy golfing, wine tasting, and time with our kids. We would love to be able for others to use our home as a base as they too visit our area and witness the beauty and fun for themselves.
