Lovely apartment with great energy - just minutes away from all the UN organisations. 8 min. walk from Cornavin railway station, 10 min. bus ride from Geneva airport, 10 min. bus ride into the city centre. Bus stops within 1-3 min.
Your outdoor place to read, relax, have a drink after a long day or start your morning with breakfast in the sunshine. View over Mount Salève and rooftops
Your home away from home is perched on the top (6th) floor, and flooded with light, personality and great energy. It is smallish, but newly renovated and furnished with love.
It offers you a bedroom with a double bed (160cm wide), fresh bedding is of course provided. You will have your very own cupboard with coat hangers and shelves to get settled in properly.
Travelling as colleagues or friends, and uncomfortable sharing a bed? A high-quality inflatable mattress (203x102x38cm) can solve the problem. It inflates/deflates electrically in under 5 minutes. I have tried it out myself and it is really comfortable.
The living area holds a sofa, armchair, TV & all-zones DVD player and HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV screen.
The modern kitchen is equiped with a large fridge, a freezer and a table seating 4 - 6 persons. I like to cook so you will find everything you need to prepare your own meals. Also just purchased a Hurom slow juicer, for a healthy kick-off into your day. Basics such as spices, salad oils, tea, coffee etc. are at your disposal.
The balcony overlooks Salève, the Geneva "house mountain", and is accessible from both the kitchen and the bedroom. Both rooms face out over an inner court yard with no traffic, so you will enjoy total silence at night. In the summer, my balcony turns into a little garden, with lots of plants and flowers, and i would appreciate if you could water my green friends if you're staying longer. Thank you! :o)
The bathroom has a modern and spacious walk-in shower. Towels and hairdryer are provided, and usually, there is also shower gel and shampoo. Toilet is conveniently situated in a separate room.
Strong free wifi is available throughout the flat.
You are super close to the UN organizations, and only 8 minutes' walk from the main railway station. Bus number 8 takes you there in just 3 minutes, or across to the city centre in 10 minutes (lake, shops, restaurants, old town). It stops right around the corner. Further bus and tram stops are each under 5 minutes' walk, and literally take you everywhere.
Grocery stores are just a few minutes' walk away, and so are two beautiful parks where you can hang out on a sunny day.
Can you tell? I truly love my home :o) And i have no doubt that you will, too.
Everything! I want my guests to feel totally at home.
Interaction with Guests
Very frequently. I love being available for my guests, and answer all the questions they may have. Being a frequent traveller myself, I totally understand the need to get a feeling for where you are headed, and what to expect. Also, i am happy to function as a virtual city guide. So no question is ever too much, or too "stupid" :o)
My neighborhood is close to the "touristic" Geneva, and very well connected through public transport. In any case, the city is small by most standards, so nothing is ever really far away. However, my home is also just remote enough from down town to assure complete peace and quiet, which isn't the case everywhere.
Bus number 8 stops just around the corner, and will take you directly to the railway station (in 3 minutes), or across the bridge to the touristic Geneva. Just one block away, there are more trams and busses. Also, the airport is just a 10-minute taxi ride away.
Being a non-smoker myself, I ask my house guests to please not smoke inside. You can smoke as much as you like on my big balcony, though :o)
It would appreciate if guests would water my plants.
My home is in an apartment building, which means that neighbours need to be respected. Therefore, if you are looking for a place to have loud all-night parties, this is not it.
In general, I expect that my space is treated with respect, just like I would treat yours. Thank you.
Monica made me feel very welcome.
She is a lovely host who made me feel I could relax in her flat though she wasn't there. The flat is convenient for town or heading to the UN buildings as there's a bus stop very close by. I found some delicious croissants at a nearby bakery and loved having morning coffee on her small south facing balcony. Wonderful stay.
Super appartement, très accueillant et chaleureux! Monica nous avait laisse de très bonnes directives et tout était mis a notre disposition dans son logement. La localité très proche du centre ville et du lac. Vraiment un bel endroit que je recommande. Merci encore Monica!
Thank you very much Monica. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, just as published. The apt was very well located, in a quiet neighbourhood and close to UN offices. There's a market right in the corner and a pizza place in case your plane comes in late. Great bed, shower, complete kitchen, elevator, amazing view, big screen tv, tasteful decoration and a kind hostess. All I can say is thanks Monica!!
I really loved staying at Monica's apartment, which is conveniently situated between the old town and the United Nations. The apartment was fully stocked and charming, and Monica left us detailed instructions for keys, wifi, tv and transportation, so there were zero problems. We just walked in and immediately felt at home. I would gladly stay in this beautiful little home again, and am very grateful to Monica for hosting us!
Thank you most sincerely for your kind review, dear Eleonore, I am so glad you had a lovely time with your sister. Thank you also for your private feedback. I will most definitely heed your advice and add a little note regarding the purchase of tram and bus tickets! :o) Also, if ever you are back in Geneva, please feel free to contact me. I would definitely enjoy hosting you again.
It was the best choice we could do, a cosy home arranged with love and care for details rather than just an apartment. There was everything necessary we could think of to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. It is ideal for stay of a couple, as well as a family. The flat is located in the area easy to reach from both train station and airport, within walking distance from the city centre. Monica is very amiable and helpful, it was a pleasure to stay in touch, she always responded on time and gave complete information.
Monica is the best host I've ever met (although we didn't really meet in person since Monica was travelling away). Her house is perfect and tidy. It's a one-bedroom flat but I got almost everything I need: private space and fully equipped kitchen. The view of the balcony is wonderful as well. Me and my mom just loved everything about Monica's place. I would recommend this to everyone. You won't regret it : )
We had very nice airbnb experience in Monica's place. The apartment is very clean and well equipped. We've stayed several airbnb flats during our trip, and Monica's is the best one, I'm so glad I chose her place.
Live, love, laugh and experience all the treasures that life has to offer! I am capable of turning up at a five star hotel in flipflops, a backpack and my yoga mat. Or stay in a simple hostel and feel at home. I can travel through Africa on a private safari, or spend weeks in India using only public transport. A plain bowl of super fresh greens will make my heart sing, but I also won't say no to an elaborate meal at a fancy restaurant. Give me a cheap massage on a beach, and I will be happy. Invite me to an elegant spa for a full-day treatment, and I will rejoice. In short: variety and human interaction is what make my life rich, never possessions. I love both simplicity and luxury, sometimes mixed randomly together. As long as they take me out there, into the world, to discover flavours, smells, colours - and, of course, new friends.
