About this listing
This is my private apartment, which I rent out when I travel. It has lots of personality and you will feel right at home. Just minutes from all UN organisations and city centre (direct bus number 8 stops right around the corner)
Your outdoor place to read, relax, have a drink after a long day or start your morning with breakfast in the sunshine. View over Mount Salève and rooftops
My mini-penthouse is perched on the top (6th) floor, flooded with light and decorated with much attention to detail. It also offers a great balcony with a lovely view.
The bedroom has a double bed (160cm wide), fresh bedding is of course provided. You will have your very own cupboard with coat hangers and shelves to get settled in properly.
Travelling as colleagues or friends, and uncomfortable sharing a bed? A high-quality inflatable mattress (203x102x38cm) can solve the problem. It inflates/deflates electrically in under 5 minutes.
The living area holds a sofa, armchair, TV & all-zones DVD player and HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV screen.
The modern kitchen is equipped with a large fridge, a freezer and a table seating 4 - 6 persons. I like to cook so you will find everything you need to prepare your own meals. There is a Hurom slow juicer, for a healthy kick-off into your day, and a Kenwood kitchen aid. Also a coffee machine. Basics such as spices, salad oils, tea, coffee etc. are at your disposal.
The balcony overlooks Salève, the Geneva "house mountain", and is accessible from both the kitchen and the bedroom. Both rooms face out over an inner court yard with no traffic, so you will enjoy total silence at night. In the summer, my balcony turns into a little garden, with lots of plants and flowers, and i would appreciate if you could water my green friends if you're staying longer. Thank you! :o)
The bathroom has a modern and spacious walk-in shower. Great water pressure and lots of hot water. Towels, hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel are provided.
Strong free wifi is available throughout the flat.
You are just minutes from the UN organizations and the railway station. Bus number 8 stops around the corner, and takes you directly to the UN, the station, the city centre and the lake. Further bus and tram stops are each under 5 minutes' walk, and literally take you everywhere.
One grocery store is directly opposite my block of flats, two more under 5 minute walk away.
Two beautiful parks are nearby, nice for hanging out on a sunny day.
Can you tell? I truly love my home :o) And i have no doubt that you will, too.
While you're staying with me, I want you to feel completely at home. Please just treat my place like you would a friend's house, or your own: with respect.
Interaction with Guests
I will not be around personally, as I only rent out my home when I travel. However, I love being available for my guests, and answer all the questions they may have. Being a frequent traveler myself, I totally understand the need to get a feeling for where you are headed, and what to expect. Also, i am happy to function as a virtual city guide. So no question is ever too much :o)
My neighborhood is just minutes from all the UN organisations, the more touristic areas, the lake and some great parks. Perfectly connected to all of Geneva via public transport. My home is also just remote enough from busy down town to assure complete peace and quiet, especially at night.
Bus number 8 stops just around the corner, and will take you directly to the UN organisations, the railway station, or across the bridge to the touristic areas. Further trams and buses are just one block away. Airport is 10 minutes by taxi, or 15 minutes by bus.
Being a non-smoker myself, I ask my house guests to please not smoke inside. You can smoke as much as you like on my big balcony, though.
It would appreciate if guests would water my plants.
My home is in an apartment building, which means that neighbours need to be respected. Therefore, if you are looking for a place to have loud all-night parties, this is not it.
Très bon appartement, bien équipé, bien situé juste à côté d'une station de bus. Au 6 ème étage il manque d'air en cas de forte chaleur mais sinon rien à dire. Monica est très arrangeante et sympatique.
This was our first experience of using airbnb and it was fantastic. Monica was extremely helpful and provided us with lots of useful information before and during our stay which made our visit very easy. The location was fantastic and we found we could walk everywhere easily or use the buses which Monica had provided us information for. The apartment was very clean, tidy and quiet and it was lovely sitting on the balcony. It was also lovely to receive an email from Monica on our check-in day to ensure we had settled in fine and to advise us of a local music festival which we otherwise wouldn't have known about. We would definetly stay here again.
Staying at Monica's place was my first Airbnb experience and it exceeded all my expectations.
Monica wrote detailed and clear instructions and was always prompt in responding to additional questions. Her apartment is very nice and warm, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Monica thought of every detail – from a wide selection of coffees and teas in the kitchen and facial tissues in the bathroom, down to HDMI cable for connecting your computer.
The apartment is situated in a quiet neighborhood and has a lovely terrace, with a view of Mont Salève and point Le Môle. Bus #8 stops right across the street, giving you easy access to most UN institutions, but also to the central train station (Cornavin) and downtown/old city.
In summary, my stay at Monica’s place was very enjoyable. I would definitely book the place again, and recommend it to my friends as well.

Monica was literally the most perfect host. Actually, she spoiled us... She was that great! She explained everything meticulously and always helped with anything and everything we needed. Geneva is an amazing city, and Monica made my experience better than I could ever imagine! She was so organized, had so many recommendations, and was very easy to reach at all times!
Myself and my partner had a fantastic stay at Monica's apartment. Monica herself was an impeccable and considerate host from start to finish. She made everything so unbelievably easy and this was especially comforting as I was arriving on my own. She really goes the extra mile from providing useful extras such as recommendations of places to go in the area and the wonderful coffee machine we made use of in the apartment!
The apartment itself was great, extremely welcoming and a lot more spacious than I expected. It had everything you could need for your stay and more. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Thanks again Monica!
About the Host, Monica
Live, love, laugh and experience all the treasures that life has to offer! I am capable of turning up at a five star hotel in flipflops, a backpack and my yoga mat. Or stay in a simple hostel and feel at home. I can travel through Africa on a private safari, or spend weeks in India using only public transport. A plain bowl of super fresh greens will make my heart sing, but I also won't say no to an elaborate meal at a fancy restaurant. Give me a cheap massage on a beach, and I will be happy. Invite me to an elegant spa for a full-day treatment, and I will rejoice. In short: variety and human interaction is what make my life rich, never possessions. I love both simplicity and luxury, sometimes mixed randomly together. As long as they take me out there, into the world, to discover flavours, smells, colours - and, of course, new friends.
