A large double room and en suite bathroom with a corner bath big enough for 2 and a separate shower. Overlooks private garden. The house is a few minutes walk from the woods of Sheen Common and beautiful Richmond Park where Henry VIII hunted and deer still roam free. Richmond is an historic town on the river Thames with Ham House and Hampton Court nearby. We are also close to Kew Gardens and the National Archives.
Our family (psychiatrist, writer, four children studying) love travelling and we enjoy having people to stay. Great food. WiFi, TV, house full of books a dog and 2 cats. We are easy going and are happy to provide you with food or let you cook your own.
Easy transport links to London with bus stop on the door step. Train stations (North Sheen, Richmond, Mortlake), cinemas and 2 theatres within 10 minutes walk. Easy walk to a range of restaurants in Sheen and Richmond (Italian, Lebanese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Hamburgers) and traditional riverside pubs.
We often have another small single room available for a third guest if needed.
Some of our guests stay in the room and some come and use the kitchen. Happy to bring breakfast up to the room or invite you downstairs.
Public transport could not be easier. The 33 bus stop is right outside the house. Buses run all night from the centre of London and Hammersmith. During the day the buses arrive every five or ten minutes and there is a text number to tell you when the next one is due. Trains into central London from North Sheen, Mortlake or Richmond are just a five to fifteen minute walk away. The fast train to Waterloo in Central London takes less than twenty minutes.
My daughter and I stayed with Katherine for one night on our way to Europe. She was very helpful and immediately available on her cellphone when we needed directions. She arranged for her children to be there to welcome and breakfast was served on time and as requested. This is a lovely homely atmosphere with pretty back garden and signs of real people living interesting, full lives. All members of the family who we came across were kind and friendly. We will stay there again any time when needed.
Delightful family who warmly welcomed us into their home. Just what we needed after six weeks of travelling. A good location away from hustle and bustle of central London, but very close to public transport and a great selection of restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Katherine and Michael.
Staying at Katherine's was an excellent experience. It was a perfect location for me with a short bus journey to Richmond and just around the corner from some friends. Katherine and her entire family made me very welcome in their house and I had an excellent breakfast both mornings at whatever time was best for me. Definitely recommended for a stay in a beautiful part of south-west London.
Absolutly Lovely stay! A London's experience I will never forget. Felt like home!Thank you with all my heart Katherine.
Kathy's place is absolutely wonderful! The room was beautiful with the largest bed we saw anywhere in England, very comfy! And a two- person tub, so nice! There is a bus stop right outside the house, and Richmond is just a short walk down the road. We only stayed one night, so didn't get to explore Richmond Park, but we did feel as though we landed in the lap of luxury, and didn't want to leave! Kathy was very sweet bringing us tea and some wonderful croissants, and her family and Sid (doggie) were also very nice. We will come back!
Many thanks for a most enjoyable stay. Kathy, her family and pets made us most welcome. Our room was very comfortable and the en-suite bathroom was luxurious.
Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. We were using public transport and the bus and train links were very convenient. We would certainly like to stay here again in the future.
Martin and Kathy.
Loved it! Refreshingly bohemian household and a happy family that includes dog (the dearest border collie), cats (very cozy), and fairly grown up children. Big, quiet, peaceful room.
I loved every minute I spent at Kathy's b&b. They are a charming family and very welcoming. The room is very large, well-lit, quiet, and furnished with a big, very comfortable bed. The shower/bath area is beautiful. Kathy provided whatever breakfast I wanted, from eggs and toast to porridge to croissants and orange juice and tea. The dog and two cats are well-behaved and eager for attention. They have a lovely garden area, and loads of books on their bookshelves. I was working at the National Archives in Kew and could take a bus half-way and walk the rest or walk the whole way in 30 minutes or less. Nearby Richmond is loaded with shops. I hope to stay with them again in the future.
I had great difficulty in contacting Catherine on the day of my arrival to change the time I would be arriving from 5pm to 7pm. I sent emails, left voice messages and even went to the house and rang on the door bell. There was no answer. Finally at about 9.30 pm Catherine contacted me to say that she had only just recieved my message and that the room was ready for me. She later told me that there is a key which I could have obtained and avoided all these problems and taxi costs. Any future guets should ask about this facility before they book, The room was comfortable, but the heating did not work that night and I had to put extra blankets on the bed. Catherine was however very helpful the next day with organizing directions and other infomration. In general, I have mixed opinions about my stay. Fiona
I spent almost two weeks in Katherine's wonderful house and I could not have been happier. The room is truly beautiful. It is large, well lit, and has plenty of natural light from a large window. The bed in the room is very, very comfortable. The shower is excellent and there's even a giant bath. Katherine, Michael, and their charming children could not have been nicer. I felt right at home from the first day. I slept very soundly at night, in part because of the excellent bed but also because the family members themselves are all very quiet. As a result, I woke up refreshed every morning. Katherine's breakfasts were excellent and they proved to be a great way to start my day. The location of the house in Richmond is very convenient, particularly since the bus stop is literally right outside the house. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough.
