Description

The Space

=====SPACE:
Semi-Private: a supercomfy, double loft bed in an extra-large, multipurpose room in the heart of the beautiful & charming, original Faubourg Marigny. this is only three blocks from Frenchmen Street & five from the Riverfront, with a 2nd-story view & dog kisses, should you want them. this is a shared space, shotgun-style/pass-through room, but you will be the only sleeper(s) & the only one(s) using this room in the evenings. (the space you will be in used to function on its own as an independent, efficiency apartment. the entire room is 300+ square feet, & at times it serves two functions, but the kitchenette at the opposite end is only occasionally used during guest stays or any later evening hours.) the interior of the loft has a surge protector/power strip & a shelf for personal items, charging, & beverages. the frame has several hooks installed for jackets & bags, as well as *plenty* of luggage storage space above & below.

=====HOUSE & PARKING:
this is a recently renovated, 2nd-floor, camel-back above a historic, double-shotgun home, with all wood & stone floors, & gorgeous courtyard/tropical views below from the deck at our entrance in the rear. very clean, peaceful, & secure environment. free, residential, on-street parking in front; some shaded.

Guest Access

fresh, clean linens, blankets, towels, a stuffed puppy, & four pillows are provided, as well as a new, memory-foam mattress pad & plenty of throw pillows. natural, plant-based detergents are used. simple breakfast items, (bread, butter, jam, etc.), & coffee are here (just let me know), as well as plenty of home-brewed peppermint iced tea.

powerful house AC & softly filtered light keep things cozy & comfortable at all hours. digital, oscillating room heater with remote control for you. kitchen with new, modern, appliances, oven, toaster oven, microwave, toaster, French press, percolator, water purifier, & cabinet/refrigerator space accessible to guests; large dining nook. cozy, overstuffed recliner is all yours in which to relax & catch up online with unlimited high-speed wi-fi. Netflix, Fandor, & HuluPlus account to enjoy on your downtime. a seven-port, grounded, ceramic surge protector provides plenty of safe power for electronics, high-speed, USB charging outlets, steam iron, hair dryer, rain ponchos & umbrellas to borrow. large, open guest shelf in bathroom, & guest storage space in shower for personal items.

Interaction with Guests

=====PLANNING:
i live on site, & am delighted to assist with as much or as little itinerary planning as you would like. additionally, there are books of maps, sightseeing, historical, & tour information, as well as menus from many of our delicious local restaurants, & frequently updated lists of current events & festivals, including official Louisiana & New Orleans tour guides. recent issues of all our local publications are provided as well. lists of local music events & festivals are maintained & posted. want to try out any number of free, citywide, social bike rides & see what you may not otherwise, all from a very local perspective? i know just where to find them. ((:

The Neighborhood

=====LOCATION:
it's just three blocks to all the hot-spots, live music, restaurants, & excitement of Frenchmen Street, the Riverfront, & Lower Decatur, while to our immediate opposite side is the quite notoriously eclectic arts & music district, the Bywater. a few short blocks along Frenchmen will lead you into the French Quarter, the Mississippi Riverfront, the world-famous French Market, & a ferry to Algiers Point. these neighborhoods are just within minutes of pleasant strolling or biking as well. neighborhood music clubs, (including many of the most famous), cafés, coffee houses, restaurants, live theater, burlesque venues, picture house, gourmet brick-oven pizza (available by the slice), a gym, yoga & fitness center, spa massage, package liquor, a food co-op, washeteria, community parks, 24-hour pubs, a 24-hour organic grocery & deli, fast food, beauty salon, gas station, & national drug store, are all within 5 blocks. another five blocks includes a public library, herbal healing center, country/swim club with a jacuzzi & heated saline pool, sno-ball stand, & historic cemetery to the mix. thrift/antique stores & art galleries abound. this location has plenty of nearby international dining options for those interested in more than Creole & Cajun fare, & some great vegetarian options as well, of which i know *nearly* all. ((:

Getting Around

it;s so close to the Quarter, you can even make use of the pedi-cab service (hirable bike taxi) both ways. we are just 2 blocks from the closest airport shuttle location, 1/4 mile from the interstate exit, & 1/2 block from a major city bus line.
=======

**PUBLIC::
multiple citywide public transit options (buses & streetcars) are available in just 1/2 to 2 blocks should you choose not to walk or rent the bikes that day. the closest bus, heads straight along the length of the Bywater Arts District, the Marigny (us), & the neighboring French Quarter & Treme'; this line in only 10 minutes' ride terminates in the heart of the entire city, where nearly all conferences, sports, concerts, festivals, & conventions are held, with direct transport access to Magazine Street, the historic universities, the Superdome, NO Arena, EM convention center, car rental stations, & train station, as well as the direct airport transit bus. multi-passes available from drivers.

**PRIVATE:: *UBER cruises our immediate neighborhood continuously at all hours, & pick-up takes 1-3 minutes; a trip crossing the entire French Quarter is generally $5. *Pedi-Cab bike taxis will drop off or pick up within the Marigny & are a charming, especially romantic, & very relaxing way to experience the beauty & charm of Old New Orleans.

=====PARKING::
free, residential street parking is available for blocks in all directions, much of it shaded.

=====BIKES:
you will notice the majority of the people you encounter everywhere in these areas riding bicycles all hours of the day & night; the city is flat, & these neighborhoods simply perfect for biking with their cozy & historic one-way streets. two well-maintained cruiser bikes with locks, official bike maps, & safety lights can be rented as follows, (first-reserved/first-served) each:

*$10 / single day, or
*$20 / entire stay.

Other Things to Note

=====DOGGIE:
the apartment is occupied by me & my very sweet, sociable, & well-behaved, 6yo, medium-sized, bully-mix dog. she sleeps with me, but is happily available for petting or snuggling, & has been a very popular guest favorite; see the reviews for plenty of information. she is very short haired, single coated, flea-free, & enjoys frequent bathing & dental care. she has her own kennel for when i am out if she is not with me on the bike. you do not have to *love* dogs, but you should probably just be comfortable around a social, easygoing, obedient, & very lovable dog. (:

=====MISC:
flexible hours; can accommodate all types of schedules; no curfews. last-minute reservations happily accepted. check out my private-room listing as well; discounts available if both listings booked together. see you soon! ((-:

***the adjustable privacy curtains allow as much or as little privacy as you would like throughout the day. you entirely control the room lighting, & the adjacent spaces are not ever used after 10 pm, nor before 10:30am, & although it;s New Orleans' historic, shotgun style, in between those hours you set the energy/activity level of the space to a large degree. & of course consideration is always given if you are napping, video-calling, or working.

***WEEKLY RATES: just ask for a weekly discount! however, these rates do not apply during festivals/holidays, but a similar discount will happily be given.
