The Space

A few hours away (and a direct flight) from the east coast of the USA or Canada , imagine a safe, quiet, comfortable large studio apt, sleeps 2, within a gated community called FLAMBOYANT VILLAGE. Garden view, ground floor. Separate brand -new patio-kitchen. WIFI. The whole place has been completely remodeled in September/October 2011. Beautifully tiled (travertine) main room and bathroom. Private easy parking. Two steps from Simpson Bay lagoon with its pretty beach on NETTLE BAY and a few minutes WALK to one of the prettiest beach on the island (Baie Rouge) . Complimentary lounges and umbrellas at the Flamboyant, Security 24/7. Access to other resorts and hotels on the bay, some of the best restaurants and watersports just a walk away, on the beach. The Residence has two swimming pools, tennis courts, a dive Center, a restaurant and a bar by the beautiful main pool (there are two) , with live entertainment some evenings. Water Toys and boat rental available on the premises. Also a YOGA/SHIATSU massage cottage at the entrance of the residence. Several convenience stores and medical facilities within walking distance. There is an excellent French Bakery/Creperie/Cafe by the main entrance with Free fast WIFI and a large deck to mingle with the locals as you enjoy the goodies.

It is so nice that a lot of residents choose to live here all year around and have bought studios and apartments inside the resort.

LOCATION : Ten minutes from MARIGOT, the French capital of ST MARTIN , 5 minutes from BAIE ROUGE, one of the most beautiful beach on the island, a few minutes from several excellent restaurants and only a 20 minutes drive from JULIANA international airport (code SXM).
It is best to rent a car (possible on the spot) to visit the 37 sq miles island which has so much to offer all around.

There is a lot to see and do, day and night, on both French and Dutch side of the island . I have tons of literature and documents to help you choose where to go and what to do .I will be happy to spend time with you sharing my knowledge of 27 years living in PARADISE !

Cool breezes, calm waters and great sunsets over Simpson Bay lagoon await you. Just IMAGINE !!!

  • Me and my husband had a wonderful stay at Dominique's place during holidays. Her apartment is very cozy and have all you need to prepare breakfast, dinner and all (I just loved the french press coffee maker).
When we first arrived everything was clean and in place. Dominique met us at the bakery on the residence's entrance and we've had a nice half-hour talk. Then she got us to the apartment and explained all we needed to know for a nice stay, from the coolest beaches to visit to all the details we should be aware of at the island. An important upside is the location. 5 minutes walk from a good french supermarket and a pharmacy, and 10 minutes-drive to downtown Marigot. We've had the chance to try a delightful french restaurant, Le Sand Beach, just 10 minutes-walk from the residence. Well, for American-style kind of shopping I would recommend the Dutch side, to get to Phillisburg it takes 20 minutes driving (you have to rent a car anyways). I could fulfill all the space available here only describing every little detail that made me love Saint Martin, but I will have to do it later. To sum up, I just want to emphasize that the first reason that made me love this island was Dominique's apartment.

  • Thank you Dominique for hosting my Parents! They had a great time and had only incredibly nice things to say about you. They liked the place and enjoyed their 1st airbnb experience.

  • Lovely hostess. The complex is very nice, the pool is beautiful and clean. The apartment (email hidden) to recover from stress, quiet and filled with interesting books. My husband made a list of titles he wants for Christmas!

The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 is that the lagoon beach is lovely to walk on but not good for swimming. We crossed the road to swim in the ocean and that was better but not convenient.

  • I stayed here a couple weeks ago on vacation with my partner. Dominique was an excellent host. The space is absolutely gorgeous and right near Marigot -- very convenient for getting into town. Dominique was helpful with advice and suggestions of places to check out before we even arrived. When we did arrive, she made herself available to us if we had any issues and had magazines, maps and restaurant information ready for us in the kitchen.

We had no complaints! Our stay was lovely. The complex in Baie Nettle is perfect for if you need a couple nights to just relax on the beach outside your place, take a dip in the pool or partake in some watersports in the sea.

Thank you, Dominique for being (email hidden)!

  • My aunt and I stayed at Dominique's apartment last week during our vacation to St. Martin. Dominique (email hidden), truly knowledgeable about the island and genuinely cares that visitors have a good time. Her place was the perfect "home base" for our trip. It's clean, spacious enough for 2 to sleep comfortably, as well as safe and secure. Another major plus is the beach is right outside the door.

The one downside is we saw a few cockroaches. This is apparently quite common on the island, and in many tropical places. To be fair, we met a couple who stayed at a very upscale resort in Porto Cupecoy. They told us the previous night they came back to their room to find a dead cockroach on their bed. So apparently, whether you stay in an apartment or a 5-star resort, you may see at least one of these critters during your stay on the island.

Do yourself a favor and buy some roach spray from the local market!

    Response from Dominique:

These critters actually live on the island, and they can fly, so unless you live in a bunker without ever opening doors and windows, you are likely to encounter them somewhere, some time. They are harmless, and personaly, I'd rather see one than have the place constantly sprayed with powerful and toxic pesticides. I have now placed baits in strategic points to avoid a reoccurance. Sorry about that Alysha ! you told me they were f...you out . Too bad it happened to you.

  • Dominique is truly a lovely and genuine individual. Her apartment is gorgeous. We felt very much at home with all the decor, interesting books and movies. With a full kitchen we were able to cook several meals. The secured community is safe and very well kept. This listing/stay was by far our favorite on the island. We also loved being a short drive from Mullet Bay and Cupecoy--some of our favorite spots. 5-Star experience! Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you, Dominique!

  • Dominique made our first trip to the Caribbean effortless and fun. She was kind enough to pick up us from the airport-as we are unexperienced travelers and didn't think a rental car was necessary for the Island ( which it was if you want to be able to explore easily, as she had suggested in the first place).
She gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities we wish we could have done them all!
We felt right at home in the adorable studio, great location and a short drive to other cool spots on the Island.

    Thank you again!

About
ATTENTION : I will be sailing around st Martin for a Marine mammals protection program from Apr 16th till Apr 27th 2014 and might not be able to connect to the Internet every day. I am a 60 year-young Woman, born and raised in France but spent most of my life abroad. I love Nature, and especially the Ocean, that's why I chose to move to St Martin from France 27 years ago. I am happiest outdoors and with friends and family. I SCUBA dive as often as possible, love to take photographs, go paddling on my surfski, and hike with a group most Sunday mornings. Yoga and Tai Chi Chuan occupy some of my free time, and of course there is Ari, my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who lives nearby with Mama and Papa. I teach French privately, free-lance as a Diving instructor and massage therapist (SHIATSU) . Responsible of the antenna of the ONG "mon ecole ma baleine" (My shool my whale), educating youth about marine mammals in their own environment. I love to travel, explore , connect with people, read, cook and enjoy good food (Indian and Thai are my favourites) and red wines .Last October I bought a cute house in Oyster Pond (Windward side of the island) , about 40 minutes from Baie Nettle and moved there, but before that, I l used to live in the studio at the Flamboyant and loved it. I will help you make your stay the best possible one and will answer all your questions to the best of my ability. Remember I've been living here 27 years..... NOW is the only time we have. So let's ENJOY it ! Are you ready ? I hope to see you soon in Sunny St Martin ! and bonus : February through May is Humpback Whales time .....
