GIANICOLO SUITE AIRONE: Charm and Privacy in the Heart of Rome
Gianicolo Suite Airone is an elegant B&B placed in “Monteverde Vecchio”, a very well known residential district of Rome. A spot a few steps away from Gianicolo's panorama, St, Peter Church and the Vatican Meseum, Villa Doria Pamphilj's Park and picturesque Trastevere with its nightlife.
The suite consists of a bedroom with double bed, private bathroom, balcony, TV and wireless service. A single bed can be added upon request.
Breakfast is “Italian style”, with croissants, biscuits, ecological honey and jams, tea, coffee, milk and fruit juices.
Luigi and Maria Pia, and their sweet and affectionate dog Black, will welcome you to this friendly atmosphere. If you have any problems with dogs, Black has no problem moving elsewhere during the days of your stay.
From our Gianicolo Suite Airone, you are a few minutes walking distance to many beautiful sights: the Gianicolo, the catacombs of St. Pancras, St. Peter in bonds, Trastevere... St. Peter's and the Vatican can be reached by bus in about ten minutes, the city center in about 20 minutes.
If you are a jogger, just crossing the street you can use the large and beautiful park of Villa Pamphili.
For the greedy, in the square where Gianicolo Suite Airone is located, there is one of the best ice cream in Rome.
Finally, for lovers of "alternative shopping", every Sunday morning, in the neighboring district of Trastevere, there is Porta Portese, the oldest and largest "flea market" in Rome.
The charm of Monteverde Vecchio, the proximity to the city center, the nightlife in Trastevere and the quiet and privacy of your suite will make your stay in Rome unforgettable.

If you're looking for accommodation in Rome, Luigi and Maria's is the place to be. They are the perfect hosts. Highly patient and hospitable. They will make you feel at home. They will help you with everything you need to know in Rome, starting from eating places to all local transport mediums. It is also a very good location. Near Trastevere, which is a very happenin street with a lot of small and big cafes pub, and Vatican City side. Besides Maria's delicious breakfast is to die for. Typical Italian essence in her cooking and serving style.
Perfect hosts! I would recommend everyone, going to Rome, to stay in this area (near Trastavere, near Vatican) and specifically to stay at Luigi's and Maria's place.
Luigi and Maria Pia were the perfection of hospitality. Their charming apartment made for the ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of central Rome. Breakfast was delicious, the bed was super comfortable, and Maria Pia and Luigi provided excellent recommendations and were even patient enough to help us brush up on our Italian language skills! I highly recommend anyone looking for warm and welcoming hosts to stay with Luigi and Maria Pia!
Wonderful time with Luigi and Maria Pia in Roma !
The hosts are very friendly and very helpful, the apartment is bright and very clean, the breakfast is delicious !
I would definitely recommend this great place !
Grazie Mille Maria Pia y Luigi !
Luigi and Maria Pia were wonderful hosts for our stay in Rome. They live off-site, but are around in the mornings and evenings to answer questions about travel plans, transportation, provide breakfast, and just to provide a warm atmosphere in your home away from home. Our rooms are cleaned each day and it was lovely to come back to an organized room after our long days of sightseeing. It is within walking distance to the Vatican City, but needed to take the bus everywhere else. Only trouble we had was with figuring out bus routes/stops, especially since the locals aren't as quite willing to help in providing directions. But once we figured it out, it was easy to get around everywhere. There aren't a whole lot of good food options in walking-distance, but we found that there are tons of great restaurants and bars in 10-minute bus ride.
Overall great experience with the apartment and the hosts! We highly recommend the place to anyone!
Luigi and Maria Pia are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us in their wonderfully decorated and comfortable apartment in Monteverde and we stayed there five days over New Year's.
Our room with private bathroom was great. Bright, airy and with nice furniture... everything was spotless and clean.
The comfy bed was bliss after walking around Rome everyday.
The big extra is the breakfast you get every morning in the living room. Croissant, toasted bread, fresh fruits, butter, jam and tea/coffee.
Luigi and Maria Pia are very helpful, communication with them was easy (before and during our vacation).
The neighborhood is quiet and it's a 15 minutes walk to Trastevere or 25 minutes to the centre of Rome.
Highly recommended. We definitely stay again with Maria Pia and Luigi when we are back in Rome (we will thanks to the thrown coins :)
Thank you Luigi and Maria Pia!
Luigi and Maria Pia's home and B&B at the edge of Trastevere is a true gem!
My mother and I stayed here for two nights on a road trip through Italy and found it to be the perfect starting point for exploring Rome. Close to everything, yet slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the center, the room is sparkling clean, comfortable and very quiet, allowing you to rest out before a full day of exploring.
In the mornings we were welcomed by a beautifully set table with fresh juice, yogurts, fruits, toast, pastries and coffee/tea. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Luigi, but Maria Pia gave us good advise on how to get around and offered maps and transit guides.
We can strongly recommend this place and hope to come back some day!

About the Host, LUIGI And MARIA PIA
We are a couple formed by a Florentine (Luigi) and a Roman (Maria Pia). Luigi is a writer and a film director, Maria Pia a biologist. We chose to live in Monteverde because it is a historic district of Rome, full of humanity and at the same time quiet and reserved. If you will come to visit us, we will help you to know that Rome less known to tourists but more real and fascinating.
