Check-In and Check-Out
You will check-in at our other house - Wanderfalls Guesthouse & Hostel, 601 Spruce Avenue, 3 blocks from Great Gorge. While you may check-in between 4 pm and 9 pm, we do not stay at the hostel that whole time so it is important that you let us know what time to expect you. We want to be sure we are there when you arrive. Please note that there is a $10 early/late check-in fee for check-ins or arrivals outside of these hours.
Guests must check out by 11 am or arrange to stay another night if there is space available.
Absolutely No smoking in the house and no pets.
Carroll was really polite and kind, and she kindly provided area map and highlight some locations and places to go for us. The whole room is clean and neat. Generally we had a good time in there. One thing is the heater in our room (room A) was not functioning very well so our room was cold. There are some extra blankets offered in the closet, which is really sweet.
Room was great but the Neighbourhood was a bit spooky and we think that the price was a bit too much for this. One other thing we want to mention is the check in time and check out time are not reasonable at all. We managed to check in early as we used their transport from the airport for 40$.
Our check-in is between 4 pm and 9 pm, and check-out by 11 am. We are not a hotel and do not have a 24 hour front desk. Because these guests wanted us to pick-up them up from the airport mid-day for $40 (a taxi costs $80), we made sure we could accommodate an earlier check-in for them. We also allowed them to stay until 2 pm since they wanted a ride back to the airport. We are not sure why the complaint about check-in and out times, as they are stated clearly in our listing and are known about prior to booking. The neighborhood is not spooky, just quiet. Niagara Falls is a very quiet city, especially in the off-season.
We didn't really meet Carroll and Andrea but one of their employees welcomed us with a great smile. She explained us everything and gave us maps where we should go. Although we never met Carroll & Andre, they were still caring and emailing us with useful info. The place is absolutely accurate, looks as on the pictures. Its very clean and we liked the location a lot. Its only 15 mins to Niagara Falls. Thank you
The location is just next to the Niagara Aquarium and really close to the fall. Although we arrived late and couldn't meet Carroll & Andre in person, they let Sabine patiently explain the room policies and gave helpful suggestions on the trip and restaurants. The room is clean and cozy.
I did feel pressured about our check-in, as we were travelling and could not give a definite time for arrival, which our host seemed to expect.
Otherwise, the room was as described, but the area was noisy with buses idling outside our window for 10 minutes every hour until midnight.
We ask that our guests give us an approximate arrival time so that we can be sure to be there when they arrive. We are not a hotel and do not have a 24 hour front desk. We are not sure where the buses were as there aren't any bus stops in the immediate area. We've never had noise complaints and many guests say it is a quiet neighborhood (see other reviews). We'll have to investigate.
We were very close to Niagara Falls. The place was clean and Carrol and Andre very kind.
Unfortunally we didn't see in the description that we need to pay 9€ more, i think because they have a guesthause and a hostel as well.
Thanks for your kind comments about our house and us. Regarding the extra charge it is the tax. We don't include the taxes in the price on AirBnB so as to save our guests the AirBnB fee on the tax (12%). In NY state, we are required by law to collect the sales and occupancy taxes (8% and 5% respectively). Some hosts include the taxes in their price others are ignoring the law, which we won't do. This is in our description and unfortunately, not everyone reads it.

About the Host, Carroll & Andre
We are avid travelers and running this guesthouse allows us some freedom in the off season to do just that. Carroll spent most of her career in Human Resources but gave it all up (darn) a few years ago to open this guesthouse & hostel - leaving the wonderful California weather behind but gaining a wonderful husband. Andre is from Germany and we found each other here!
