The Space

Private room for rent in Sandy, Utah located just 5.5 miles from Snowbird and 7 miles from Alta. Located just half a mile up Little Cottonwood Canyon. Beautiful surroundings in a very quaint resort. We are up the canyon so that means tall and beautiful mountains in the front and backyard. This is as close to the ski resorts as you can get without actually staying at the resort and paying resort prices.
On pow days there is usually a long line that stretches for about a mile but when you stay at our house, leaving in the morning is great because you can pull out in the front of the line to get up the canyon! NO TRAFFIC! You get to sleep in AND no waiting, its great! Very quiet location. Cell phone service is limited depending on your carrier, but you usually get a few bars.
Includes access to two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. You are welcome to cook and use the pots, pans and dishes any time. We have two fridges with plenty of space.
Free parking right in front of the house. We are barely there because we work most of the time. The home has four bedrooms total. We rent three of them. This room has a queen-size bed.
There are grocery stores about 5-10 minutes down the road. Smith’s is the closest.
We have wireless Internet but it is pretty slow. It works fine for checking your email but streaming and downloading isn't really an option. Location is a skier’s dream, but you don't need to ski to stay here.
We offer continental breakfast. Cold cereal, toast, fruit, and oatmeal. If you let us know, we will put the oatmeal in the croc-pot so when you wake up it will be hot and ready!
Since our home is located up the canyon we usually recommend that our guests have a car. The nearest public transit is too far to walk to. An option for carless guests would be to take the airport shuttle or a taxi to our house and then hitch hike up and down the canyon for skiing. Not convenient, but possible.
Often guests ask if they need a car with 4-wheel drive or chains. It really depends on the snow conditions. Most of our guests have 4-wheel drive, as they know they will be driving up the canyon. However our road is always plowed and we rarely have anyone get stuck. We own a car that doesn’t have 4-wheel drive and it gets by just fine. Jan-March are the snowiest months.
We don’t own any pets and don’t allow any pets. Sorry to all the animal lovers. We technically live in a watershed area so pets aren’t allowed.
If this room is not available for the dates you would like, then please check the other two rooms we rent from the same location! The room for which you submit the reservation request is the room that we will be able to approve. Airbnb doesn't give us an option to switch you. So please make sure you send the request for the right room. :) This is for the room with the queen bed. We also don't mind what time you arrive. We understand that often planes land late. If we go to bed then we will leave the door open for you!
Once you book, we will email you the best directions to the house. (website hidden) maps and apple maps don’t do a very good job at getting you here.
Don't hesitate to ask questions! We want your stay to be perfect! Please let us know what we can do!

  • We had a great stay with Ron and Lisa. The place was easy to find and they welcomed us into their home and made us very welcome. We visited in summer but it is literally minutes from the snow resorts and surrounded by beautiful mountains. We had a choice of rooms and all looked equally very comfy. Breakfast oatmeal (or porridge) was a brilliant touch. Unfortunately we could only stay one night, wish we could have stayed longer!
    Highly recommended!

  • My husband and I spent a lovely 3 days at the Romero's home. The location is perfect for reaching both Snowbird and Alta Ski Resorts. More than just being a place to stay Ronnie and Lisa really welcomed us into their lives. The warm oatmeal breakfast was perfect for starting off the day. When my husband developed a sore throat the Romero's were genuinely concerned and tried to find something to help him. We would highly recommend this comfortable, clean and warm place for your SLC needs.

  • I had a great stay with Ron and Lisa. Their home is located right at the base of Little Cottonwood, literally minutes from Snowbird/Alta and surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Wasatch range. Room was very comfy, and the breakfast of oatmeal and all the fixings was a great touch. Highly reccomended.

  • Skiing was amazing!

  • Ronnie & Lisa's home was close to the resorts. It had a convenient location to the city as well. The place was clean and neat. I don't know what more could be asked for.

  • Ronnie & Lucy (Patrick's parents) were great. They were super friendly and accommodating of my somewhat crazy travel schedule. They're place is literally ~11min from the Alta parking lot (with dry roads), which was perfect for a weekend of skiing. The only downside is that because you're at the bottom of a canyon, the internet and cell service was pretty sparse. I highly recommend this place!

  • The accommodations provided by Patrick and his folks were clean and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and quickly adapted to our changing needs. I would recommend this site to others looking to ski Alta and Snowbird.

  • Ronnie and Lisa were amazing hosts. Super friendly and helpful and always ready to give advice on the area. They're location is minutes away from snowbird and alta, while at the same time extraordinarily convenient for popping into Salt Lake. Highly recommended for skiers or anyone with a car.

  • Great location and a beautiful home! The Romero's were super friendly and the room we stayed in was very nice. Thanks for the oatmeal!

  • Ronnie and Lisa were fantastic hosts. They were very clear in their directions and communications to the accommodations. The oatmeal was a great perk. Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space. Very good access to both big and little cottonwood canyon resorts. Minutes away from good eats and grocery store. Loved my stay and will definitely be coming back.
