ABOUT US: We are very mellow, relatively quiet professional couple, and usually have some sort of regular schedule around productivity, eating, sleeping, and Dr. Who episodes. Personality-wise, we laugh a lot over silly things, and don't fight much, if at all. We're very happy together.
I am a professional costume designer, photographer, and all around artist. Most days I work out of the home, if I'm not out on a shoot, so occasionally there is some crafting mess in the dining room, or living room. Although I try and keep things relatively neat, it's hard to be an artist without some mess. Just understand that this is not a hotel, that people live here, and use the common rooms. However, you can expect your private space to be clean and neat. Tris, my husband, works a regular 9-5ish gig in IT, for a financial company located downtown. We usually hang out in our room most evenings, either watching netflix or playing games...when the weather is nice, we get out more and go for walks with Little Dude, our dog, and Princess Buttercup and Westley, our Nigerian Dwarf goats.
I've done my best to make this space feel inviting, clean, and comfortable, and it's an evolving work of art. Any suggestions for making it more so are welcome.
I would like to add, that if you are allergic to animals, or are uncomfortable in a house that has animals, we would prefer that you not book our space. The dog is a year round indoor dog, and the iguanas and sometimes the pheasant are brought indoors in the winter...but they are tucked away from guests. The dog is barky with strangers, but all you have to do is love all over him, and he'll shut up.
One more thing, we no longer allow photoshoots in our home.
Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, laundry. We prefer that guests be accompanied by one of us, when out in the backyard with the animals. The pig is sometimes grumpy, so we have to put him up first.
We no longer allow photo shoots.
Interaction with Guests
It depends on what is going on in my life, with work, and family.
My home is on a few bus routes, and there are a few stops within a few blocks either direction.
Other Things to Note
Prices reflect the new ordinances affecting short term rentals, and include all state and local taxes...and according to the other garbage the city requires me to have to list on this:
- My STR operating license is #(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
- It is a violation of city code to allow more than six (6) unrelated
adults to occupy the dwelling at one time.
- In the interim, no more than six (6) unrelated adults may reside
in a dwelling unit, except in the area defined in Subchapter F:
Residential Design and Compatibility Standards Section 1.2.1
1. Please don't leave towels on the furniture.
2. Please TURN LIGHTS OFF
when you leave, and keep the windows closed if the AC/heat is on.
3. Please don't go in the backyard without being escorted by one of us (the pig is grumpy sometimes, so we need to put him up first) Please don't feed any of the animals, unless we give you stuff to feed them with.
4. Please clean up after yourself.
5. My husband works a 9-5 job, so please respect his sleep schedule.
6. If you are a smoker, please smoke on the front porch, and dispose of your butts in the ashtrays provided. I have a tortoise and goat that roam around the back yard, eat the lawn, and will eat cigarette butts.
7. I want to make your stay with us the best experience possible. If you are unhappy with anything at all, please let me know, and I will remedy it.
I can be reached any time, day or night by phone or by email. Texting is better if it's late night.
** I will be basing my guest review
solely on your ability to follow these
seven simple rules.
We are looking to rent to respectful people, that are ok with loveable animals, and a professional artist and nerdy IT guy couple. I work from home, and my husband has a full time day job, and is usually in bed by 11pm. Weekends we are way more flexible with our sleep schedules.
I don't have any age restrictions. However, the room is not wheelchair accessible, and it is located up a small flight of about 6 or so steps. (it's a split level), so it may not be ideal for someone that is mobility restricted.
Also, we ask, that if you have any issue at all, we would prefer you speak with us directly about it while you are here, so we have a chance to address it right away, rather than remain quiet about it, and then write a bad review. We want you to have a pleasant stay, and hope that you would be kind enough to help us provide one.
I'm a longtime Austin resident (since '87), and am happy to fill you in on all the cool stuff in town to do, recommend restaurants, places to shop, and am always up for forays to Barton Springs or the lake in the summer.
I keep the house reasonably clean, and guest rooms super clean, and expect guests to leave the room in decent shape when they check out. Please do not put wet towels on furniture, and do your own dishes & clean up after yourself in common areas. Also, please check that the AC or heat is not on before you open windows. I will take care of laundering sheets and linens, and cleaning after checkout.
We're considerate people, and expect you to be too. Please be nice to the critters as well. Also, please do not go out in the backyard, unless accompanied by one of us...the pig is bipolar, and sometimes bitey. We'll have to put him up first to introduce you to the animals.
