My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The directions were easy, there was private parking for our van and kayak, bnb had beautiful gardens and such friendly hostesses. The cookies were a nice touch as well.
Nothing could have been better! Our room was spacious and very clean. Annemarie and Jocelyne are so incredibly nice. You can feel that they put a lot of love and effort into hosting people. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we had a lot of contact with both of them. But if you want to, you can definitely have your privacy. They have a very nice garden and their pets are really cute. When we arrived, Jocelyne even made a fire in the garden to sit around. The breakfast was also very good. There was everything we needed. Thank you for being such nice hosts. I couldn't imagine a better bnb.
Jocelyne and Annemarie were excellent hosts and made us feel right at home. The house itself is as beautiful as it looks in the photos, and despite its age, has been wonderfully renovated and updated to be as cozy as it is classic. Staying here was the best experience we have ever had through AirBnB!
What a lovely stay! I booked last minute as a surprise trip for my boyfriend's birthday and everything about was effortless and comfortable. The listing itself is very beautiful-- a private, spacious room with a private bath in a gorgeous home. Everything was clean, the enormous bed was super comfortable, and we especially appreciated the cookies left in the room for us. I'd recommend having a car if you're staying here as it's a quick drive to everything in Monterey and parking is super easy. I only met Jocelyne and Annemarie but both we so sweet and kind, super responsive, and fantastic hosts. (And we loved the discounted Aquarium passes!) Thank you again!
We had a great experience with Jocelyne and Annemarie. Even though Jesse wasn't there, we felt his presence through all of his beautiful renovations to this wonderful old house. Annemarie's pictures of the house interior were right on. The house really looks like the photos. Both Jocelyne and Annemarie were such gracious hosts - wonderful listeners and wonderful talkers - they are both so real, you feel like you are staying with long-lost friends! In all, a wonderful family-run feel to the home; but still plenty of privacy! They also gave us great support in food and hiking recommendations. This was a really really good place for us.
If you are looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the Monterey area and Big Sur, this place is perfect.

Our accommodations staying with these hosts was excellent!
We were a little late getting in and the host stayed up to let us in. The room was exactly as pictured and very, very comfortable. There were DELICIOUS cookies waiting for us and an equally amazing and healthy breakfast served in the morning (homemade yogurt and granola, which was excellent, and great coffee), topped off with great conversation with our hosts and another couple staying at the house.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay, the beautiful house and our gracious hosts, whsh we could have stayed longer!
We had a one night stay in the first bedroom and it was amazing. It's easy to get to Big Sur for a day of fun and the downtown area isn't far from the house for things to do at night. Everyone was very friendly and social and the house was clean and well decorated. Even after we checked out that Sunday the hosts gave us their members passes for only $20 each for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I would definitely recommend the historic house to my friends.
We were able to stay here only one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. If you plan to stay in or near the Monterey area, you must stay here.
We stayed in room #1--roomy, cozy, with a wood stove and private bathroom. Since we had the place to ourselves the night we stayed, I had a chance to peek into the 3 other rooms for rent here--all as lovely and clean and cozy as ours.
We enjoyed resting in our room and exploring the yard and gardens outside. We followed Jocelyne's recommendation to watch the sunset at Asilomar beach and ended the night we a glass of wine out by the fire pit.
A highlight was our visit over breakfast with Jocelyne. And the breakfast itself was beautiful--hot coffee and tea, juice, granola and yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese . . .
We felt very much at home here--free to keep to ourselves or visit with our hosts. This is a restful place. We'll be back!
It was a pleasure to meet Jocelyne and Jesse. The home, the grounds and the room are lovely. The bedroom is delightful with private bath en suite. Tasteful, artistic touches everywhere. We had a very good light breakfast and wonderful conversation with Jocelyne. The pot belly stove type fireplace was a romantic and warm touch too.
