Absolutely great- both the Bamboo Cabin and Dave. If the cabin sounds like your type of place, book it immediately! You will not be sorry.
Anahola was a great location to base our visit to Kauai. The beaches within walking distance from the farm really are beautiful and secluded and the perfect place to watch sunrise. Nearby Kapa'a (4 miles away) has all the shopping and dining options you need- and the north shore is within easy striking distance.
Dave's "free self-guided" waterfall adventure/cliff scramble was a highlight of our trip. Enjoyed walking out to pick fresh lettuce, basil, hot peppers and carrots from the garden. And the fresh eggs from the hens.
Mahalo for the week in paradise.
Dave was a pleasure to work with, he was thorough in preparing us for our hike and provided great information in regards to the trail. His hospitality while preparing was great. We would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Kauai. Thank you so much!
Dave was very kind and accommodating! My friends and I were preparing for our first backpacking adventure and were pretty clueless on how and what to pack. Dave patiently helped us and gave us invaluable tips on how to pack for Kalalau.
The gear was great and in excellent condition. It was a life saver to have all of the equipment that was provided! And the price is perfect.
Thank you Dave!
You cannot go wrong with Dave! He was easy to contact, gave plenty of instructions before hand and was pleasant and trustworthy the whole way through. Great equipment and a great time all around.
The Bamboo Cabin was all I had hoped it would be. There was plenty of privacy but I adored the company of the piggies, goats, and chickens. Dave and the guests staying at the other cabin were always polite but never intrusive. The cabin had all the amenities I found myself needing (hand soap, dish soap with scrubber, basic dishes, beach towels, bath towels, etc). The cabin also has wireless, which was a big plus. I had a lovely stay and should I ever make it back to Kauai, will definitely be staying in this gem. Note that it can be a bit tough to find for the first time, especially if it's dark out, but Dave talked me through the whole thing and it was second nature after that.
We had an amazing time hiking with the rented camping gear. The gear was in perfect shape and Dave was very friendly. The rental and return was uncomplicated and Dave even gave us some tipps and advice for the hike. A great experience for anyone who would like to hike the Kalalau trail along the Napali Coast!
We decided to use Daves services for a backpacking trip on the Kalalau trail. We did a 3 day hike total and absolutely loved it! The north side of the island is beautiful and we loved our stay. The equipment Dave provided was sufficient and helped us with our journey. The only things we needed to supply was clothing, food, and comfort supplies (toothbrush, soap, towel, etc.). This hike was not for the faint of heart, and I do not suggest it for the average day hiker. If you decide to do it make sure you are with someone experienced in the outdoors, or have done multi day hikes relying on a water filter. I would suggest daves equipment rentals to other outdoor enthusiasts if you're looking for a basic camping setup.
We originally booked the Bamboo cabin but there was a double booking so we were moved to the room with a view. The bed was comfortable and it had everything you would need for a place to crash, but not a place to hang out at. It is one room, with a bed, shower, toilet and small kitchen, with no walls. So you can lay in bed and see the shower/toilet (there is a movable privacy screen...). It would be great for one person. There is some road noise as well but it didn't bother us.
The property is great, love the animals. Dave was awesome, he let us borrow a day pack and was always friendly when we saw him.
This is a basic accommodation for a good price, perfect for budget travel for the explorer. The location was good to explore the Island.
Thanks for everything Dave!
My boyfriend and I rented camping gear for nearly all of our ten day stay on Kauai. Dave was awesome, and so was all of the equipment he supplied us. I was really nervous to hike Kalalau but he gave us a quick rundown of the trail and the valley, and I left reassured and super excited. He was super flexible with us, letting us extend our rental by a couple of days and even letting it slide when we showed us really late to return our gear. Finally, Dave didn't charge us for an extra day, and instead left us smiling :) As a final note, the Lifestraw that Dave included in our rental set was literally a lifesaver... It saved us from carrying in water and was perfect for the many waterfalls and streams on the Kalalau Trail!! So glad we found Dave on AirBnb... It made all the difference on our trip :)
