This lovely garden-level apartment in a renovated brownstone boasts beautiful, wooded scenery, right in the heart of the city. Located in Kansas City's coveted and historic Westside neighborhood, the apartment is within walking distance to downtown Kansas City, the Kansas City Convention Center/Bartle Hall, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Crossroads Arts District, Sprint Center, Power and Light entertainment district, and more. Just a half block from great restaurants, cool coffee shops, a mini grocery store, and bus stop.
Remodeling was just completed on this 900-square foot, one-bedroom, one bath apartment that occupies the entire first floor of an historic 1889 brownstone building, with a private entrance and private back patio. (Our home occupies the top two floors of the building--convenient for a spare cell phone charger and the like!)
The apartment is equipped with WiFi and a satellite cable; separate living room with comfortable sofa, reading nook, and large television; kitchen fully stocked with cheerful Fiestaware dishes and silverware, wine glasses, bottle openers, a Keurig one-cup coffee maker, a mini refrigerator, and a microwave. Tea, coffee, bottled water, and granola bars are stocked for your stay. Soft, fresh linens and plenty of fluffy towels are provided, along with plenty of extras should you need them. The bathroom is stocked with soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and body lotions, as well as a hair dryer and other necessities.
The bedroom, with a queen-sized bed, opens to a private patio with seating and a view of the natural surrounds. The ceiling fan and light are operated by remote control, so you needn't even get up to turn the lights out! Room darkening curtains keep the room dark and cool for those who wish to sleep in.
A second queen-sized EZ Bed is available for set-up in the living room for 3 or more guests. If you're a yogi or like to stay in shape while you travel, we can provide a yoga mat and exercise ball.
The apartment is thoroughly cleaned between stays.
PLEASE NOTE: Although the apartment is relatively well-insulated from the sounds of our home above, we are parents of a young child. To ensure your sound sleep, we provide a high-quality white-noise machine in the bedroom. For the most part, our guests report that they don't hear a peep (whew!). However, there are peeps, pitter-patter, and squeals and cries here and there.
Westside Neighborhood - According to USA Today, which cites the Westside as one of the top 10 up-and-coming neighborhoods in the US, "Urban dwellers have infused life into the Westside neighborhood. One of the more diverse neighborhoods of the City, this neighborhood has a beautiful variety of homes from historic Victorian and Colonial to post modern. This is a neighborhood of an eclectic mix of local restaurants like Chez Elle Creperie & Coffeehouse, Blue Bird Bistro, Novel, and Westside Local Restaurant & Beer Garden as well as a large variety of Mexican restaurants and bars on the Southwest Boulevard corridor." Just a half block from the apartment, you will find a small bodega selling groceries and other basics, as well as beer and wine. Small boutique shops sell artist-made jewelry and housewares, as well as vintage clothing and other one-of-a-kind items. Life on Kansas City's Westside is an expression of those who have chosen to live there, a celebration of creativity and diversity.
Margaret and Nathan were amazing hosts. They were great to deal with while we were planning our trip. They had a bunch of great recommendations and suggestions. They were great about getting us check-in information early and very well explained. The location couldn’t be better for what we enjoyed doing. There are great restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, and local markets with-in one block walking distance. The unit is completely isolated from the rest of the house. You get a private front and back entry. There is plenty on street parking within a very short walking distance of the front entry. The street is a beautiful mix of old and modern. All of the neighbors are friendly and people actually stop and chat. It’s located with-in a 5-10 minute drive to anywhere we wanted to go (larger attractions in KC). I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a great experience in Kansas City.
Margaret and Nathan's place was great! The location was perfect, we loved the Fud(the vegan restaurant only a block away), and all of the neighborhood gems! We were 15 minutes away from the Plaza, a short walk to The Sprint Center and minutes away from Crown Center. We loved how the apartment felt like home and not a hotel, we really enjoyed the time we spent there and will definitely stay at Margaret's and Nathan's the next time we're in K.C.
Our stay was perfect! We stayed in the apartment for a weekend trip to Kansas City. The charming apartment was clean, comfortable and looked just like the photos. We loved the neighborhood and enjoyed walking to restaurants and shops nearby. It was only a few-minute drive to downtown and other sites. Margaret and Nathan were fantastic hosts and we had the chance to chat with them briefly during the weekend. We loved our stay and plan to stay again!
Our stay at Nathan and Margaret's place was fantastic! The apartment is beautiful, large, and in a great location. Check in and check out were easy, and the hosts are lovely to talk to. Highly recommended!
We can highly recommend this airbnb. The location is great, nice neighborhood restaurants near by and an easy walk to downtown.
The apartment was as advertised, the bedroom is gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. Although Margaret & Nathan (who live upstairs) mentioned having a small child, we did not hear any noise.
The listing description was exactly what it said it was. Very nice and relaxing environment. Great dining and venues within walking distance, yet secluded enough to make you feel at home!
Very comfortable place and surprisingly spacious. It was also a nice touch to have coffee waiting for us. Location was really great - easy access to the I35 and the walk-able neighborhood has a variety of restaurants to choose from. We would definitely recommend this location to a friend. Thanks again!
