In the beautiful medieval village of Caunes-Minervois, 20 minutes from Carcassonne, Marie and Lionel have tastefully renovated their self contained cottage to welcome up to 4 persons.
From the delightful south facing terrace you can gaze over the tiled roofs of the village, and lose yourself in the panoramic view over the plain of the Minervois to the Pyrenees beyond. This is a wonderful place to rest, relax, and live quietly to the rhythm of the Languedoc region.
The house is spacious, on two levels. On the ground floor there is a lovely dining room with an open plan kitchen giving onto the terrace.
Climbing the old stone staircase, you will find two bedrooms (one with 2 single beds and the other with a double bed), plus a large bathroom. There is also a separate bathroom on the ground floor.
Lionel is a renowned ceramic artist, and the cottage is full of examples of his work. A friendly ceramic dog to watch over you whilst you take a nap on the terrace, a stunning hand-made wash basin in the bathroom, plus colorful crockery for the dining table, each piece is unique.
Caunes-Minervois is certainly one of the most beautiful villages of the Aude, authentic and protected. Within the village you will find several restaurants, bars, shops, galleries and artisan workshops. All of them within a couple of minutes walk from the Potter’s House.
Visit the marvelous Abbey, take a short hike up to the famous quarries of pink marble, shop at the village market or simply stroll through the beautiful vineyards that surround Caunes Minervois.
Nearby are the ancient Cathar Castles, famous grottos, the Canal du Midi and of course the fortified medieval city of Carcassonne.

A good room in a lovely house in a lovely town.
Our hosts were very nice and helpful.
I would highly recommend staying ther.
Our stay with Lionel and Marie was fabulous! We stayed in an adorable little room right next to their pottery shop. While the stone building itself dated back to the 18th century, our room was cozy with all the modern comforts. Our hosts were more than gracious, helpful and friendly. We would gladly stay there again!
My husband and I stayed with Lionel and Marie for just one night, but we really wished we would have stayed longer! The house is just lovely, with views of the surrounding hills and, on a clear day, the Pyrennes. The room is very clean and comfortable. There is also a wonderful little terrace outside the room to take breakfast or have a simple meal.
The village of Caunes-Minervois is gorgous: a gothic abbey surrounded by renaissance houses, hiking trails lined with wild thyme that guide you into the surrounding hills. If you have a car, it really is a great base to tour the surrounding area--- Carcassone, Minerve, the Montagne Noire, and beyond.
Marie and Lionel were the perfect hosts who really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Lionel not only makes pottery, he also makes the jam he serves at breakfast!
We hope to return soon and next time stay for much longer!
