We loved our stay in the Tower House in Cetona. We didn't get to meet Alessandra but she was quick to answer any questions via e-mail. Francesco was wonderful! He stopped by frequently to see how we were doing and was very helpful getting us settled and oriented to the town. Ceton is a wonderful authentic town, very confidently located to visit other towns in Tuscany and Umbria.
Our experience at Alessandra and Francesco's tower house was like something out of a dream. I can't imagine a better way to have wound down our whirlwind trip around Europe.
Francesco came and met us at the train station and took us to our new "home" - which is exactly what it felt like for the next four days - only better. He welcomed us with a wonderful bottle of local wine, helped us order a pizza for us to eat on our patio, and checked in on us over the next couple of days to make sure we had everything we needed. We also got introduced to his lovable dog and cats. And Alessandra was always very easy to reach and super helpful with anything we needed. The town itself was adorable - the quintessential Italian hilltown - and everyone in it was so helpful, friendly and welcoming.
The house itself is incredible. The view from the patio is like a postcard, rolling hills and vineyards, swallows swooping and wheeling overhead. Not to mention the beautiful little garden overflowing with lavender and jasmine creeping up the walls... unbelievable. We sat out there for hours every day just soaking it all in.
The entire house is extremely comfortable, stocked with all the appliances and utensils you could need, not to mention so beautifully decorated that you feel like you're in movie and never want to leave. I woke up every morning to the view of swallows outside the window and the hazy glow over the hills feeling like I was in Romeo and Juliet or something. And the jacuzzi! Set into almost a cave off the patio with a view of the countryside... sigh. Enough said.
This trip to Europe was part of our honeymoon and Cetona was definitely the highlight. I only wish we would have planned for a longer stay. We fell so in love with the place we hope to come back over and over again over the years. Thank you Alessandra and Francesco for such a beautiful stay!!!
Lovely place, we stayed for 3 days and had a wonderful time. Our hosts were very helpful with providing ideas on what to do in Cetona, which were all great. Hope to visit again some day.
Alessandra and Francesco were fabulous. We were tired from our commute from Umbria and they were so helpful in getting us settled. Francesco made it easy to get things to the house and Alessandra provided the valuable information about Cetona. Throughout our stay they were available to answer any questions and Francesco was all knowledgeable. They extended invitations that our tired souls could not accept but we appreciated them none the less. We would recommend them highly and made the house more alive.
The house is just what is presented and more. There is really a feeling of home when there. It has such a lovely feeling that it was hard to leave. The terrace was our favorite place to relax and the sunsets were stunning.
Cetona was alive and felt like a real village, unlike the places we visited during the day. Many were focused of course on tourist activities. Cetona had a more of a genuine community feeling and we enjoyed how relaxed it felt. Lovely to be within the city walls and the house made you feel like part of it.
We had the most incredible time staying with Alessandra and Francesco!! The apartment is even better than the photos! Stunning!! The most unique experience to stay within the city walls and walk and "live" among the people of Cetona. We weren't able to meet Alessandra, but Francesco was such a wonderful host! He even drove our car up to the apartment so we would not have to drag our luggage up the steep hill! Whenever we needed something Francesco was there and he was a delight to talk to. When there was a problem (which was just to drain the Jacuzzi!) He was there immediately to fix it. We have no complaints about our stay, only wonderful things to say about our experience not only in Cetona, but with Francesco!! We will definitely be recommending the terrace house to all of our friends!! Thank you for a truly unique and beautiful experience!!
We loved this quaint tower in the quiet, friendly and gracious town of Cetona. It was a good place to easily travel to many other towns like Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvieto and many more. We loved the local shops and the people, and even invited some of them over for dinner one evening! everything is clean, well supplied and the views are to die for! We spent many evenings on the terrace, and on one rainy afternooon had a great fire in the grand fireplace. This is a great find and the only thing I would caution against is that if you are elderly or have walking issues, be careful as the steps inside are quite steep. We didn't mind, and other than that it was lovely. Francesco lives a few doors down and helped us with whatever we needed, even eggs from the local chicken coop!! We hope to be back.
Our stay at Alessandra and Francesco's place in Cetona provided the perfect relaxing interlude in an otherwise very active trip for our group of four. The home is an absolute masterpiece of design and is comfortable, spacious and from numerous windows and the terrace, has some of the finest Tuscan views that you could hope for. Cetona is a spectacular hill town - quiet and off the typical tourist grid but with a number of good shops and restaurants and enough activity to make people watching interesting. We would certainly recommend this to other travelers to the area.
