Welcome to New Orleans! The city's walkable historic core, including Faubourg Marigny, the French Quarter, Warehouse and Arts District, Magazine Street, the Garden District, Audubon Park and Zoo and St. Charles Avenue, are flourishing anew and eager to welcome visitors once again.

Whether for the jazz, the nightlife, the hopping scene, the food, the culture, or for that distinctive joie de vivre, it's all within less than a miles walk away.

The Loft is located on the border of a "Tale of Two Cities" The Bywater" and "The Marigny". The Loft can accommodate up to 2 guests meaning I have 1 real queen bed. It also has a cozy kitchenette for your personal use! This is an efficiency apartment just for you. This apartment is located in the rear of the building ground level NOT upstairs. This is a very old house has not been updated in years. So if you want modern-this place is not for you.

It is a leisurely 20 minute walk or 15 minute bike ride to Frenchman Street. As you stroll toward your destination to the French Quarters, you will pass by more than 8 watering holes as well as a Walgreens (in case you get a headache). What the heck, buy the Advils now. You're going to need them. Really. Lol.

Also McDonald's, Subway the new St. Roch Market are within 2 blocks as well as the neighborhood grocery store which carriers a variety of things from Po-Boys to Merlot or Jack Daniels if you please not to mention 2.99 bacon, eggs @ grits! Oh yes and don't forget about good music, theater and yoga classes @ the Healing Center all within a 6 block stroll.

Guest access

The back yard is relaxing for Smokers and Non-Smokers. If you just want to get some sun, read the paper or just chill with a bottle of wine. Please use garbage can privided to discard your trash or butts. The neighbor's dog will bark initially but only for a few moments once they realize you're not going in their yard. I do NOT have any pets.

Interaction with guests

Enjoy the back yard for a relaxing break from the apartment!

Other things to note

There is gate to the right that leads to a comfortable back yard with iron patio tables for relaxing, eating and smoking. The area has lighting at night. I have NO pets. However there is a stray cat who comes in the yard from time to time but runs when he sees you.

If you desire late check out (leaving bags or staying in room when available if no one else is checking in at 1:00) there is a charge of $10 per hour or $40 flat rate until 5:00 p.m. Just communicate with me if you would like to

Ruby's place is wonderful if you are looking for a place to yourself near French quarters! We walked to all the tourist sights from the house but an Uber was only about 6-10 a trip if you didn't want to walk. At first the neighborhood felt run down when we arrived at night, but after seeing it during the day it felt safe and even has a great ice cream shop around the corner. St Roch Market was a short walk away for breakfast. It is an older place so don't expect it to look perfectly clean, but I would have no trouble at all with booking again!

Such a great place. Very centrally located. Very comfort. We didn't spend much time there we were always out so for us it was perfect. A/C is a little loud but it's tolerable. Will recommend to anyone.

Ms. Ruby is so sweet and is an excellent host. The apartment is safe and clean. Everything Is walking distance or a 7 dollar uber. My trip was wonderful! Ms. Ruby showed me around and made sure I felt at home. I honestly can not wait to go back and visit again.

Ruby is very friendly and great about reaching out to communicate check in, check out, and any other questions during the stay. She is a great source for places to visit and places to eat, and even provides a binder with things to do around New Orleans for the guests. Ruby was even kind enough to let us keep our bags with her after check out until it was time to leave for our flight. The unit is very clean and colorful with all necessary amenities for short or long visits - bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area, and seating area. The shower is wonderful! The unit is also equipped with air conditioning which was nice after being outdoors in the heat all day. The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet and residential. While it is not far away from Frenchmen St and the French Quarter, it is very much a local neighborhood with local shops and less touristy. It is a nice experience to see a real neighborhood, outside of the tourism, while visiting a new city. Overall, Ruby was very accommodating and I felt very secure with this reservation.

A more accurate rating for this stay is 4.5/5 as overall we had a great stay with only minor issues. Ruby is obviously a considerate woman. She worked with me on check in and out time, and she always communicated with me promptly. She even gave me a ride to the local Walgreens when the timing worked out for her. So yes, she's a great host. The minor issues only came from staying in an older, basic apartment (which she is fully upfront about if you read). The power went out a couple times, the stove didn't work sometimes, and the wifi was just ok. While we were generally ok with this as we spent most of our time outside, some might not be. The place is about a 15 minute walk from the French quarter, but this is more the edge. If you're going to the heart of it, you might be walking longer. We liked all the walking but just be aware. Some people commented to us that we shouldn't walk around the neighborhood at night but we never had any problem and everyone was friendly to us especially with directions and suggestions. Not relevant, but don't go to Coop's! Would suggest Ruby's place. We had a great time in New Orleans. Thanks!

Hello world. I am a Louisiana lady with a lot of spice. From a small town but been in New Orleans for over 20 years. I work in retail and love fashion. I also work as a movie extra from time to time. I have a passion for this city and all the wonderful food, people, music and fun. Everyday, I can't wait to embrace a new exciting outing (concert in the park, festival or just strolling in the French Quarter even riding the Ferry at sunset is an awesome experience (viewing the City as mirrored through the mighty Mississippi). I love traveling, gardening and partying in a "grown-up" classy way. I can't wait to share my refreshing fun-loving spirit with my guests. As we say here in the "Big Eazy" Laissez les Bon temps rouler! Hope to see you soon.
