It is a wonderful retreat, ensconced in nature. There is an ample yard for running around (kids loved scavenger & treasure hunts) and a pine forest that borders the back of the property. The location was also ideal: only 10 min. into Montpelier! Kristina was a wonderful host, very responsive to email queries and helpful with sundry requests.
Our first time visiting Vermont and I have to say this place was a big reason why our trip went so great... Kristina was wonderful and communicative during the whole booking process, making sure we had detailed information for just about everything (the house facilities + utilities, rules, guides, etc), AND she was only a phone call away which came in handy.
The house itself is extremely charming and spacious, perfect for both a small family or a couples getaway. We used the kitchen every morning to make breakfast, and Kristina left us bacon, eggs, milk, flour and more! We even made blueberry pancakes from scratch and there was tea and coffee at our fingertips. There is a washer/dryer on site, the house was stocked up and very nicely decorated. The property itself is quite large and very well-maintained--we enjoyed walking around the garden area and the woods behind the house. We enjoyed the fact that though we were only 10 minutes away from the town of Montpelier, the neighborhood was off the beaten path and quite private--it gets very dark at night and we could see all the stars which was fantastic. We also managed to visit Montpelier, Stowe (25-30 min), and Burlington (45-50 min) during our stay, the house is in a very great location to do it all.
In summary, I have nothing but great things to say... we had such a comfortable and charming stay and I would highly recommend booking this hidden gem. Hope to come stay at Kristina's charming wood cabin again soon! x
Kristina was very efficient about sending directions and instructions for the house. The house has only one bathroom, on the main floor, so you must descend the stairs from the queen bedroom/ loft at night to go to the bathroom if you are older and a bit rickety, like us. It would be a great house with a child, since there are many toys arrayed in the two bedrooms with single beds. From the photos and description I had thought it would be more isolated, but it was actually within calling distance of the other houses in the neighborhood and you could hear kids loudly playing ball across the street. I had also expected a vegetable garden from the photos, but it apparently wasn't planted this year. All in all it would be better for a family than a romantic get-away in the woods.
Thank you Nancy. I am sorry my place did not appear isolated enough. For some it is very isolated depending on what you are used to. Most weeks the neighborhood is very quiet, but during the summer the children are outside often. I also apologize that I did not tell you my spring/early summer garden was done when you arrived, and ready for the late summer/early fall garden. I plant twice each summer. Many of my guest have enjoyed my home as a romantic getaway. I recently had a young couple honeymoon here. They left me an excellent review. Thank you for your feedback Nancy and I wish you the best of luck if you continue staying with Airbnb.
This was a good place from which to explore the Montpelier area. Clean, comfortable and great communication.
The log cabin was charming and put us in the ideal location--step out the door for a stroll down the wooded country road or take an easy, scenic drive to many sights or cities. It was a great home base for our adventures in Vermont. Kristina provided everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. Thank you, Kristina!
My family and I immediately felt at home once we arrived. The home and property were very well maintained and cleaned. It is such a peaceful environment, yet only 10 minutes from amenities in Montpelier.
It was obvious that a lot of thought went into making this not only a nice home, but a great place for guests as well. Little things like a rocking chair on the back stoop to watch the sunset, the basketball hoop with a crate of balls, and a little hammock style swing on the front porch were nice additions.
The kitchen was well stocked, and it was easy to find everything we needed. We loved having access to a gas grill as well.
We hope to stay again next year while visiting family.
My wife and I decided to travel to he VT and NH area on our honeymoon this week, and though there were a number of options in and around Montpelier, we happened upon Kristina's cabin just 10 minutes north of the city. It was perfect. Kristina is a very gracious host, ensuring that we had any and all information leading up to our two night stay, and circling back with us once we had arrived. The cabin is clean, has all of the amenities you need (including Netflix should you be rained in), and sits on a plot of land that is well taken care of, with no view of the neighbors on either side. We'll most certainly stay here again and hope that every Airbnb stay is as easy and smooth as this one.
