I came to Eno Cottage during Spring Break as a writer's retreat, working on my dissertation. I could not have asked for a more perfect location! The house is absolutely adorable, cozy with all the right modern conveniences (fast internet, cable, washing machine, dishwasher). I was able to take daily walks around the scenic horse farm, meet the horses (!), read on back porch, and set up a dedicated writer's space on the desk provided. Connie And Fleming were wonderful hosts, providing a delicious breakfast casserole and horse treats (carrots) for me when I arrived. I drove down from NYC, an 8-hour trek, and I loved Eno Cottage so much that I am already talking to friends about visiting again. An added bonus: Duke University Library is only a 15-minute drive away.
We had a great five day stay at the Eno Cottage. It was the perfect space for our family of four. My two sons loved their rooms, roaming around the farm, and feeding the horses. Connie and Fleming were very welcoming and friendly. Connie made special time to allow my kids to brush, ride, and feed peppermints to horse Kassy. Although away from downtown, we found the location easy to travel back and forth to friends' houses in Durham and sites around Duke and Raleigh. The kitchen is well equipped and I made several dinners there. We will stay there again when we visit Durham.
We stayed in Eno Cottage during one of the coldest winters possible! It was toasty warm and completely lovely.
Connie and Fleming couldn't have been more wonderful as hosts: we were made to feel welcome before we even arrived with emails and updates and advice to bring warm clothes! !!
I really don't have a criticism to make. The cottage was immaculately clean, incredibly homely and welcoming and I want to live there full time.
The horses were sweet, although we didn't get to spend a lot of time outside with the cold. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and everything you could want to bake and cook (so we did).
Look: to sum up: some vacations don't turn out the way the pictures look. But some do. This was one of those. I felt like I lived in the North Carolina country in a beautiful cottage and had no stress left in my life. Just book it, you'll adore it. It was worth every single penny and then some.
Our second visit to Eno Cottage. This feels like a home away from home. We will plan our visits to Durham around the availability of Eno Cottage. I highly recommend!
Wow what an awesome place this was! Some girlfriends and I were meeting in Durham for a fun, quiet get together last weekend and I couldn't have picked a better place to be! As soon we we get there we are welcomed with wine and snacks in the kitchen, carrots to feed the horses and not to mention an adorably decorated house. It was so comfortable and cute it felt like we were staying at a friends house. The coffee provided, the cozy blankets scattered around and the all the games made for a perfect weekend. I plan on staying there again and highly recommend this place.
Our experience at Eno Cottage was absolutely perfect. We were 5 Duke grads, visiting Durham to celebrate with our friend who lives in Durham and is 8 months pregnant. We hosted a very small baby shower brunch at the house very comfortably. Connie was very welcoming and responsive. She even took some time to chat with us and show us the horses on the property. The house was adorable and so comfortable. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience and I really hope that we get a chance to come back and stay at Eno!
Our hosts made us feel extremely welcome, with some food and drinks in the fridge (and coffee!) to get us started, and everything in place for us to stay for the week. The house was clean and cozy, and although we didn't have a chance to spend much time at the house during the day, they encouraged us to explore their farm, have the kids feed the horses, etc. Everything was extremely easy to use, with lots of instructions as to where things were, how to operate appliances, etc. All in all, it was a very positive experience for our family, and we would gladly stay there again.
