THE LOCAL AREA
THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE LONDON AT ITS BEST!!!
the premier shopping street in Europe is under a mile(1km) walk from the apartment. It is one and a half miles(2km) from end to end and is a shoppers paradise. Most shops open 10am until 6 or 7pm. Many also open on Sunday from 12 to 6pm with late nights on Thursday. Oxford Street is best known for Selfridges and the other big department stores which are all found in the section from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus, along with most of the big-name multinationals such as Nike, Primark, Topshop, Apple, etc. It's more of the same towards Tottenham Court Road, but generally on a smaller scale. Oxford Street is said to be the busiest shopping street in Europe.
The section of Edgware Road near to Marble Arch is famous for its distinctive Middle-Eastern character. Lebanese restaurants, shisha cafes and clubs line both sides of the road, with some staying open late into the night. Marble Arch station is a few minutes walk from the southern end of Edgware Road.
Just a short step away from the tourist hordes, the apartment still has the feel of a real neighbourhood, the wealthy residents are becoming ever more attractive as Harley Street, the traditional home of England's best doctors, has recently become the heart of the UK's flourishing plastic surgery industry.
The beautiful architecture (the Wallace Collection is a must) and the open spaces of Regent's Park and Hyde Park make this a fine area to have a wander, when the sun's out there are fewer places in London as scenic and special as Hyde Park.
While Marylebone High Street is absolutely charming, lined with traditional pubs, beautiful boutiques and shops (including the flagship Daunt Books) and excellent local restaurants as well as an impressive mix of hotels - and a farmer's market every Saturday.
A short walk from Marylebone is the home of the most famous fictional detective in the world 'Sherlock Holmes' bachelor flat at 221B Baker Street and the popular waxworks at Madame Tussauds.
We have Italian, Chinese speaking staff available. Please call us for any enquiries.
Really good location with Edgware Road tube station just steps away. Paddington station is 5-10 mins walk, which is ideal if you are taking the Heathrow express. Lots of eating options as well as grocery shops! Room is clean with good wifi. Altogether an enjoyable stay for me!
Really good experience! First time using AirBnB.
The greatest feature of this place is Location! :) Super close to the tube and bu stop, with many good bus lines to go around London.
The second best is cleanness, both the room and the bathroom where really neat.
I think the issue about the "Check In" has been solved, you have to go to a nearby place to get your key, and voila, you are set.
Highly recommended if what you what is a clean well located place in London, tho if what you what is to have a local host who can help you around, this is not the place for you, we didn't even meet Carrie.
All great, clean and close to the tube. I would stay again.
Very nice! Good emplacement, clean and beautiful!
We (2 Girls with very good London knowledge) had a splendid time at carries.
The room was exactly like on the picture.
The flat was big enough for all 8 guests.
The toilet and the bathroom were ok. I even would say for english
circumstances was it very well. Only when an other guest doesn't clean after himself Carrie can't help it.
Next to the house are 2 tubestations with good connections( one is closed at the moment but it's no problem). Also a lot of buses are in the street next to the flat.
Finally I'd recommend the appartment to travelers who are
uncomplicated and openminded. After I read some comments here I was quite unsure. But if you know London circumstances than you know you probably can't find any better flat for this price.
Have a nice trip and enjoy London!
We stayed in Carrie's place for 3 days in July. But it wasn't the best experience to be honest.
In the beginning the communication with her was good. But once we got there she even show up. I asked her previously if it was ok to just drop the bags in the apartment because we landed in London quite early that day. She said ok after 12 am. So we arrived after midday and we had to wait for 1 hour. Luckily the cleaner arrived to open for us. We're aware about the check in time, but this is the reason why we asked if was ok to just drop the stuffs. If she said no we were fine to look for a locker. Anyway, the apartment was ok but you can smell dust in the air in the room. Maybe because there is a factory or something just next door. And as I said, we didn't see her at all. So we had no clue how to connect the wifi. We had our first shower in the afternoon but it was cold. We tried to call her using the other roommate's phone but she didn't pick up even I left a message to her go call us back. The closest train station is closed for a long time for renovation and she didn't informed too. Because of that we only used buses but on the last day we noticed that there is another train station with the same name in a small street 5minutes away. It would help a lot if she said that.
London is great but we would not stay in that place again unfortunately.
I really like the location of the (email hidden)e room is so nice and romantic andI really enjoyed my staying there. But during summer time it's a bit warm in the room.
Carrie was a very good host. She has been helpful and made me feel welcome in the flat from the very beginning on. Her flat is nicely furnished, centrally located and in walking distance to Edgware Road and Paddington underground stations. Don't hesitate to stay there when you go to London!
Arrivée périlleuse 1h30 d'attente pour récupérer les clés de l'appartement. Hôte pas vraiment disponible, ne rappelle pas lorsque l'on lui demande. Malgré ça appartement correct et propre et assez proche du métro
