THE LOCAL AREA
THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE LONDON AT ITS BEST!!!
the premier shopping street in Europe is under a mile(1km) walk from the apartment. It is one and a half miles(2km) from end to end and is a shoppers paradise. Most shops open 10am until 6 or 7pm. Many also open on Sunday from 12 to 6pm with late nights on Thursday. Oxford Street is best known for Selfridges and the other big department stores which are all found in the section from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus, along with most of the big-name multinationals such as Nike, Primark, Topshop, Apple, etc. It's more of the same towards Tottenham Court Road, but generally on a smaller scale. Oxford Street is said to be the busiest shopping street in Europe.
The section of Edgware Road near to Marble Arch is famous for its distinctive Middle-Eastern character. Lebanese restaurants, shisha cafes and clubs line both sides of the road, with some staying open late into the night. Marble Arch station is a few minutes walk from the southern end of Edgware Road.
Just a short step away from the tourist hordes, the apartment still has the feel of a real neighbourhood, the wealthy residents are becoming ever more attractive as Harley Street, the traditional home of England's best doctors, has recently become the heart of the UK's flourishing plastic surgery industry.
The beautiful architecture (the Wallace Collection is a must) and the open spaces of Regent's Park and Hyde Park make this a fine area to have a wander, when the sun's out there are fewer places in London as scenic and special as Hyde Park.
While Marylebone High Street is absolutely charming, lined with traditional pubs, beautiful boutiques and shops (including the flagship Daunt Books) and excellent local restaurants as well as an impressive mix of hotels - and a farmer's market every Saturday.
A short walk from Marylebone is the home of the most famous fictional detective in the world 'Sherlock Holmes' bachelor flat at 221B Baker Street and the popular waxworks at Madame Tussauds.

I was rather disapointed of the place. I had the expectation that the apartment was very close to Oxford street, but it wasn't that close to Oxford st. Besides that there were no soap or light at the toilet and since there is no window at the toilet there were completly dark. The kitchen wasn't too clean either. I felt very mislead by the reviews and the describtion of the apartment.
We had a little incident getting into the apartment when we got there: the door wouldn't open and nobody answered. Carrie took care of it right away even though it was 6am on a Sunday. The apartment is just like in the pictures, the kitchen was super spacious and fully equipped. Everything was really clean. Also very well located. Lots of restaurants and markets around the corner and the underground station just 2 blocks away. Would definitely come back! The other guests staying at the time were very nice as well :)
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was as described. Carrie left clear instructions for us. It was a great portal to see London by! The apt is very close to important tube stations.
1. The room was not as close to Oxford street as the ad makes you think, though from the far end(primark) it is about a 15 minute walk.
2. The neighbourhood was very shady, as two 18 year old girls we did not feel safe. You have to enter a gate to get to the building, inside this gate were people smoking weed and making obscene comments at us during the night.
3. The room itself (2) was pretty small but very clean and comfortable. Good enough for us.
4. Fulltime equipes kitchen en bathroom were clean as (website hidden) did not work.
6. Free cereal, thee, coffee, shampoo and showergels were available, which was really Nice.
All in all we had a great and comfortable stay !
We had a great stay in London at Carrie's apartment. The location was fantastic, being so close to Edgware Rd station meant we had easy access to 3 tube lines. There were heaps of buses around the area and you are within walking distance to Abbey Rd and Lord's. Also close by to the apartment was a Sainsbury's which was very handy for buying food or snacks whenever we needed them.
We enjoyed the experience of staying in the apartment, sharing with 6 other travelers each with separate lockable rooms. This was great for meeting people and the kitchen provided a great communal space.
We loved having access to the kitchen as well as a washing machine.
Our room was one of the cheaper ones, therefore smaller but it was still adequate for the price. We had some issues as the bed was broken by the time we had arrived. Communication with Carrie can be difficult but the bed was able to be fixed within a couple of days and we were happy with this result.
We consistently found it difficult communicating with Carrie both in the planning of our stay and during but despite this we still enjoyed our stay in London.
Carrie does not live in the appartment, but she gave us a very detailed description of the key location and how to find the appartment. This went all very smooth.
