Highly recommended -- as lovely as it looks in the photograph, with a very nice bathroom and a kitchen which I didn't end up using but its fully equipped for anyone who wants to cook. Big TV, too -- there was a Godfather marathon on AMC when I was there and only New Orleans could tear away from THAT (Well, I DID watch until the scene with Sonny at the toll booth -- if there was ever a time for an E-ZPass, that was it.)
The location couldn't be better. It's in the heart of the Quarter, which makes it a short walk away from everything. e.g. the waterfront and all the famous streets. A block or so from Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar, a legendary establishment with a piano bar where I sang "Summertime" before heading to the airport.
And since you have an entire place to yourself, you can come and go as you please without disturbing others or being disturbed.
When I return to NOLA next year, I hope this loft will be available. What recommendation could be stronger than that?
Sherry's place was great! Perfect location in the French Quarter, and a very clean and comfortable loft space. Sherry was also very communicative and made the whole process seamless. I highly recommend her place if you are looking to stay in this neighborhhod in NOLA.
For the discerning fan of all things NOLA, this cozy little corner of the Quarter is pretty much ideal: while it may appear fairly small in the images, it's actually quite spacious, and hosted our group of three with plenty of room to spare.
The apartment itself is close to the central Quarter, St. Louis Numbers One and Three, Jackson Square and a ton of other must-see spots for first-timers. It's removed enough from the main drag that the slough-off of drunken reveleers wasn't an issue in the least: on most nights, the celebration didn't even make it all the way down to the intersection of Dumaine and Bourbon, ensuring peace and quiet without sacrificing proximity to the waterfront fun.
Sherry also merits a nod as a legitimate five-star hostess. Our keys were mailed in a timely fashion, she was tirelessly helpful in making sure that we had everything we needed in terms of local access, and was there to answer any and all questions that we had during our stay.
(PS: One small note: due to the old-school brickhouse structure of the building, our wireless dongle was pretty much useless in terms of keeping a sustained signal. There is, however, a cafe with free internet just two blocks water-side from the property, and there were plenty of seats and power outlets available for catching up on email and work, when we needed to!)
Your place was amazing, we felt like we were at home! Location was perfect, right in the heart of the French Quarters! I also was pleased that considering the location to Bourbon St. we were surprised how quiet the street was. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back.
The condo was great! In the best location; both close enough to all the action, but also far enough to feel safe.
The weather was cold and miserable when we were in NOLA and the space heater did not provide an ounce of heat, leaving us miserable all night. The condo next door was doing major renovations and woke us by 8a.m. drilling and banging loudly. We could hear every word the workers said and felt like the drill would come through the wall at any minute. This only made us wake up earlier than we would have liked (which wasn't fun after a late night out) and get out of the condo, which isn't the worst thing in the world. So much to see and do in NOLA.
Overall, I would stay here again, as long as it wasn't during the winter. The condo was pretty clean and well maintained. Sherry did an excellent job communicating with us prior and after our visit. Sending the keys beforehand made us feel more comfortable too.
What a wonderful trip to New Orleans to celebrate the start of a new year! Sherry's loft was perfect for the two of us - it had everything we needed and we felt perfectly safe in the area!
I'll admit - when we first got into the French Quarter, we were a bit hesitant staying outside of a hotel since one of the first things we saw were signs in people's windows saying to be sure to walk in large groups since they need more police in the area! Once we spent one night in Sherry's place, we felt so at home!
Really - you can't beat the location of this loft! It's in a safe area, but far enough away from the noisy sections of Bourbon St, so you can actually get some sleep to prepare yourself for the next day of festivities!
I would absolutely want to stay in Sherry's loft again the next time we visit New Orleans. She was quick to respond to any questions we had and also gave us some wonderful suggestions of places to try in the area.
