Vibrant and fun Austin neighborhood let's you sleep well at night, but still close enough to walk to at least 15 great restos & bars.
The house is inviting and cozy, with 3 nice size bedrooms, 1.5 baths, & new kitchen. Getaway in style!
Dining room - Newly reno'd. We recently took the drywall off the ceiling and there was this lovely original wood underneath! There's a record player and awesome vinyl collection - feel free to play the records or connect the stereo system to your phone.
The Saffron House is in a great location, within a 15-minute walk to lots of wonderful restaurants and bars, including a 24-hr cafe serving hot pizza about a 10-minute walk away!
Much of my furniture and decor was chose by the Property Brothers themselves (of HGTV fame) since my last house was remodeled by the brothers. This updated 1920s bungalow is decorated with an eclectic modern southern vibe, and includes everything you need for the perfect stay.
We've had up to 14 guests enjoy their stay here, but some find the house tight at 9-10. It really depends how much time you plan on spending at the house, or going out and enjoying this amazing city! While the house is 1200sq ft, the bedrooms are quite spacious, with the living room being more narrow.
Great location, close to downtown, in authentic East Austin neighborhood. 10-minute walk to many great bars, cafes and restaurants. Near rail and bus, and easy transpo to downtown and SXSW locations.

Interaction with Guests
I'll likely be there to greet you and show you around (if I can be)!
This East Side neighborhood is in a "hot" up-and-coming area. It's mixed and charming (for better or for worse it's gentrifying rapidly), with new-builds and old-time bungalows. The neighbours across the street are the cutest family ever and I know them all by name.
The Saffron House is close to MLK and Manor, where there are tons of hip East Austin restaurants and bars a short walk away. Some of my favorites are the Juiceland that just opened up on MLK, Austin Daily Press for gourmet sandwiches and tacos, and Salty Sow for happy hour!
Cabs will run $10-$15 into the heart of downtown. You can walk to bars on Manor and a new bar, the Wheel, is about a 5-10 minute walk away. The trendy 6th st. East Side bars will cost you about an $8 cab ride if that.
There are both bus and train stops close by to will take you into the heart of downtown in 10 minutes (depending on traffic).
No pets - this is strict due to allergies.
Be respectful to my home and my lovely neighbors. No smoking of any kind inside. Welcome to the best city on earth!
Olivia's place was absolutely charming, and our party of 10 couldn't have asked for a better place to crash during our bachelorette weekend in austin. Greeted by Olivia, a thoughtful bottle of wine, and a very simple list of rules we immediately felt at home. There were towels and chocolates for each of us. She was even kind enough to accommodate us over the phone to find a pair of sissors!! Although some previous visitors seemed to have looked down on the area I would have to strongly disagree. The family accross the street was friendly and we never once felt unsafe and kept our cars parked there nearly the whole weekend. The best part was that the cab rides to and from downtown were only about $10!!!! Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a great place to stay while visiting the wonderful city of Austin.
Olivia was so responsive and helpful, and she really somehow made me feel welcomed even though I never met her. She was always quick to get back to me, and even sent me a "checkin in" text a few hours after we arrived. She left us treats and coffee which was super awesome.
The map on the listing WAS mis-marked, not at all Olivia's fault, but to the fault of AirBnB. It took me a couple days to realize the place I had booked a few months earlier was in a different location (Upper Boggy Creek). I was visiting family, so we were all confused.
This was my first AirBnB stay, so I didn't know how the maps work - and they are more area specific, not "pin" specific. The current listing's map has been changed (as I wrote into AirBnB when I returned home). The house originally wasn't even in the blue/green bubble (on map).
The neighborhood isn't great, but it's house by house. Across the street the house looked like a small junkyard, and then the house right next door was newly remodeled. After a day or two, we weren't alarmed by the neighborhood, but I brought my 2 small kids, and I was a little worried at first.
Houses in my neighborhood are a mix of fancy new builds and long-time families that have been here for generations. I don't know the names of my neighbors in the fancy houses, but I know all of the names of my lovely neighbors across the street. They cut my lawn, bring me fresh tamales, and are the best neighbors I've ever had. I seriously hope they never move, as Mirabel's smile seriously brightens my day! I walk alone late at night (yes, as a single blond girl) and always feel safe. Sadly, the neighborhood is getting gentrified *way* too quickly, but I love the character that's left of it. 3
Olivia was very welcoming. She even left beers in the fridge. The neighborhood was nice and in a perfect location. The house has good sleeping space but we had to adjust being the size of the adults in our group. We only had 9 people and it was pretty tight. The house is electic and cute however.
Olivia was the BEST host ever! She was super accommodating and quick to respond. My team drove down in a school bus so I had a lot of crazy questions that she helped answer and navigate the details--she was almost an extension of our team! We had such a good time staying at the Saffron House during SXSW and would book it again in a heartbeat. It's in a great area of town--close to awesome local hangouts like El Chilito for tacos and JuiceLand for a boost of energy in the morning. I miss it already!
The host had set out a bottle of champagne, card, and flowers - it was the perfect welcome. The house was beautifully decorated and was perfect for a weekend with the girls.
The house was amazing with a bottle of champagne with a card for the bride on the counter. There were also chocolates on the beds...Such a cute little home! Perfect for a Bachelorette party so much better than a hotel....I would recommend this place to anyone and the host was amazing communicating details!
Olivia was an amazing host. The place was so comfortable and convenient to stay in as well. We had a packed house and she was still able to accommodate every request.
