About This Listing
Cosy 20m2 studio in the city-centre surrounded by a bright and leafy yard. The studio is quiet as it is a fair distance away from the road and is located at the foot of Strefi Hill, where one can go for an evening stroll. It has its own separate entrance, independent from the rest of the house, as well as its own bathroom and small kitchen. Situated in the neighbourhood of Exarchia, it is only a 5min walk away from Panepistimio or Omonoia metro (tube) stations, and provides easy access to other means of public transportation (buses, trolleys, tram etc.). The major archaeological sites are within walking distance too. For instance the archaeological museum is just five blocks away, and the Acropolis with its new museum is within 30mins walking distance. Monastiraki square and Plaka (the old town) are just a 20min walk away, and Psyri and Keramikos square, where the heart of Athens nightlife is located, are either a 15min walk, or a metro station away respectively. Ideal for couples who want to explore the diverse centre of the city, as well as students attending seminars or professionals on business trips. The room can accommodate up to three people, or a family with one child. The house, built in 1920 just after the First World War, is steeped in history. On the trunk of the palm tree which stands in the yard, you can still see the marks left by the bullets from the street fights in Athens during the Greek civil war in 1946. In the 80’s and 90’s the house was one of the most (some claim the most) famous rock-bars of the city, with many local and international rock-stars including Nick Cave having performed on its stage. Its yard, separated into different levels, is a cool and welcome oasis of plants and trees, giving the impression that you are somewhere far away from the noisy and crowded centre of a big city. It is perfect for enjoying your breakfast, lunch, or an al fresco glass of wine, or just relaxing and unwinding after a tiring day of sightseeing.
Greek hospitality at its best! This is how all airbnb places should be like, and compared to it any hotel feels just soulless. We couldn't recommend it more, as it was definitely one of the best airbnb experiences we ever had, and we are very happy to have met Romanos and his parents. Thanks!
Very cosy studio in a vibrant part of Athens, loads of bars and restaurants around the corner. Our stay at Romanos was very pleasant, his parents made us Greek specialties and the balcony felt like a jungle thanks to all the beautiful plants. Definitely a great time!
Romanos is a really wonderful person! He is sooooo kind! And the place is just like a secret garden of God in the city! The studio is awesome! And the little kitchen is so cute but we can find everything we want! I'm so glad that I chose the apartment! Thank you!
Romanos (and his family) were the most tremendous of hosts. The studio is as described. It is very beautiful and well kept. I care A LOT about cleanliness in particular and this place definitely met my standards. The garden surrounding the studio is also extraordinary, and the neighborhood is very lively and a joy to explore. We found it easy to get around from this location both by foot and through the mass transit system. The studio is plenty private and yet the hosts made the experience also very personal. This is an airbnb gem- don't pass it up!!!
An enchanting place to stay! Perfect for people who want a more authentic experience instead of the expected tourist focused Plaka (the surrounding area has really good and inexpensive places to eat, street art, lots of 20 somethings out and about, bars, music/happenings, and walking distance to all the sights- if you like walking that is... I'm NYC resident so it's typical). The place itself is situated in a beautiful lush garden patio that adds to the quaint size and decor of the studio which was Romanos & his brothers childhood rooms! All in all I would definitely recommend this place and my boyfriend and I had a great time staying here. Thanks Romanos!
