About this listing
Cosy 20m2 studio in the city-centre surrounded by a bright and leafy yard. The studio is quiet as it is a fair distance away from the road and is located at the foot of Strefi Hill, where one can go for an evening stroll. It has its own separate entrance, independent from the rest of the house, as well as its own bathroom and small kitchen. Situated in the neighbourhood of Exarchia, it is only a 5min walk away from Panepistimio or Omonoia metro (tube) stations, and provides easy access to other means of public transportation (buses, trolleys, tram etc.). The major archaeological sites are within walking distance too. For instance the archaeological museum is just five blocks away, and the Acropolis with its new museum is within 30mins walking distance. Monastiraki square and Plaka (the old town) are just a 20min walk away, and Psyri and Keramikos square, where the heart of Athens nightlife is located, are either a 15min walk, or a metro station away respectively. Ideal for couples who want to explore the diverse centre of the city, as well as students attending seminars or professionals on business trips. The room can accommodate up to three people, or a family with one child. The house, built in 1920 just after the First World War, is steeped in history. On the trunk of the palm tree which stands in the yard, you can still see the marks left by the bullets from the street fights in Athens during the Greek civil war in 1946. In the 80’s and 90’s the house was one of the most (some claim the most) famous rock-bars of the city, with many local and international rock-stars including Nick Cave having performed on its stage. Its yard, separated into different levels, is a cool and welcome oasis of plants and trees, giving the impression that you are somewhere far away from the noisy and crowded centre of a big city. It is perfect for enjoying your breakfast, lunch, or an al fresco glass of wine, or just relaxing and unwinding after a tiring day of sightseeing.
Romanos provided us with all the indications to get to the apartment from the Athens port which were more than useful!. We arrived to the studio and his brother Jason and his mom Maria were waiting for us. The three of them are great hosts! Maria prepared for us some incredible homemade mezzes! The studio, very charming, was according to the description. Definitely recommend !
Hands down, the most amazing place we have ever stayed. I unfortunately fell ill and spent my entire trip in bed, but the studio was so comfortable that it was the best place to be. Located in such a great neighbourhood and Romanos gives you all the tips on where to go. The hosts really set this place apart from anywhere we have ever been, from the amazing homemade treats to their genuine caring of your comfort. We can't wait to return one day and see them again!
Next trip to Athens, I would definitely try to stay with Romanos and his family again. Romanos met me on arrival to show me the studio and provide great tips for the area. And the treats his mom made me on check in were just lovely!
The studio and their home is beautiful. I loved sitting on the balcony porch above the garden. (Very relaxing after a day of walking all over the city). The location is just far enough away from the heavy tourist areas but still close enough that you can walk to them quickly.
The apartment was spotless. Their is an air conditioner for the hot Athens days but the windows allow enough of a breeze that you probably won't have to run it. And the studio also has a great little kitchen space with everything you will need to make meals if you want to dine in.
I only wish I had stayed through the weekend. As I was leaving Saturday there was a market being set up outside with fruits and other edibles!
The place is great, well located, nicely arranged. Romanos and his family are full of attention and extremely nice and welcoming. I had a wonderful stay there.
Our stay was amazing. We were welcomed very warmly by Romanos' brother, Jason, and his mother, who made us feel at home.
The roome is a seperate unit from their house, but luckyly you enter through their house's patio and garden, which is remarkable.
The room is cosy, beautifully decorated and clean.
The neighborhood is super cool, full of street art and students, and lets you experience the local atmosphere. Not touristy at all, yet 20 minutes walk from the main sights and shopping areas.
There are many stairs to climb, so if you are elderly you should take it in consideration.
