  • Shefali's flat is immaculately turned out and the room is very comfortable with its own little balcony and en suite bathroom. Shefali is a very communicative and helpful host (everything went very smoothly indeed!) but a busy lady indeed, did not see her once during my stay!

I really enjoyed the location of the flat, it is in 'real' Mumbai by which I mean you are unlikely to see many other tourists. This was exactly what I wanted from my visit to Mumbai so happy days indeed. The flat is walking distance from Chowpatty Beach and a very quick taxi hop from Fort and Colaba. There is a landmark building nearby (Bhatia Hospital) which makes return from days Mumbai magic by taxi very easy, every taxi driver knows the hospital and the flat is 5 mins walk from there.

I would stay again and can recommend wholeheartedly for anyone who wants to visit Mumbai for a few days.

  • I have been to India ten times before but this was my first stay in Mumbai and first experience with airbnb and for sure not the last.
Staying at Shefali's beautyfull home was brilliant. You get your own room with bathroom and the kitchen has got all you need to make up a nice breakfast with the fruits and grocery's bought just down the road.
The location is very central and easy to find, and it is a safe area with a friendly and helpfull vibe.
Before arriving Shefali took time to answer all my questions and replied very quickly.
The only negative thing i can say is that there is a lot of noice in the morning :) but that's Mumbai for you.
Thank you Shefali for making my first stay in Mumbai great. Will call again next year :)

  • Room was always kept in great condition, maid service is spectacular. The host is lovely - very knowledgeable and informative.

Also, very easy to find taxis around the area, good restaurants not so much.

    Would recommend!

  • The flat is very airy and clean. Location wise... It's central and very easy to find.
    A few points:
    - Quick showers are a must. Hot water lasts 5 min
    - Not an ideal location for going out or eating out. Bandra is a long way off and you're right in the middle of a street market with very few descent restaurants around.
    - The bed... Is not really a bed. It's a mattress on the floor and oh... Not even a good mattress.
    - Being some quality earplugs because that street is noisy all the time!

Finally and most importantly, the host has no business being a host. Rude and condescending would be a polite description.

Nice place but I really don't see what everyone is raving about!

  • I stayed here for 3 days. The apartment is in a very good location -- 5 min. walk to an one of the tastiest restaurants in Mumbai (Swati Snacks), as well as a 5 min. walk to a train station where there is a charming and delicious Parsi cafe. From the train station I could get to Bandra West very easily (it's a straight shot north, and then you take a tuk tuk for 5-10 min), and otherwise cabbing to South Mumbai was only about 50-100 rupees depending on the time of day/night. Overall great value, especially compared to other places in Indian cities. Especially if you factor in the maid service, the wifi, the location, the kitchen, the spaciousness, the furnishings and the cleanliness.

And a note about the less than positive review also from Feb 2014 -- I stayed in the apt right before this reviewer but didn't experience anything similar. There was continuous hot water and Shefali was very communicative and friendly (although I never met her in person, she was out of town).

A key difference (and I am only guessing here) is that I had been traveling in India for awhile and had already tailored my expectations. Also, I sleep like a rock, but compared to most other cities I have visited in India this was relatively peaceful.

The apartment is not necessarily in a district with a plethora of good eats and restaurants, but
    a) that's the trade-off for a relatively affordable, quiet, and accessible location and
    b) Indian cities for the most part just don't have very many places like that, even in the most developed areas. Higher-end businesses are typically much more dispersed.

  • The apartment is charming and the location is great - central with easy access to Bandra and South Bombay. Worth the price.

  • Exactly as described on the box ! A small clean room with an en suite bathroom in a pleasant area. Its also a good location as all the taxi drivers know the hospital that it is close to so you have no problem getting home.

  • Shefali was a great host and had a wonderful room, perfect for a stay in the big smoke that is Mumbai. Was my first time on air bnb so had no idea what to expect and couldn't have found a more personable host. Super friendly and a totally comfortable stay. Thanks again Shefali!!

  • Conveniently located - 15 mins walk to Chowpatty and Marine Drive. Relatively quiet at night. Safe feel to the neighbourhood. Very comfortable bed. Clean room / shower room. A nice bustling street market just around the corner. Although the advert shows various images of the apartment as a whole, it's best to see the offer as relating mainly to the bedroom / shower room. If you do that, you won't be disappointed. It's easy to pick up a taxi outside, and, traffic allowing, it's just 10-30 minutes to Nariman Point, Colaba, Gateway of India, Taj etc.

  • I had a great stay at Shefali's place and would recommend it. Perfect location just a couple of minutes from the station, and nearby markets. Shefali is an awesome woman and host.

About
Hi my name is Shefali Khothari and I live in Mumbai and work at BBDO India . I am a Canadian national who has lived in Paris, France and now in Mumbai. I am quite busy so the flat share is quite easy as I am rarely home. Flat share is limited to the room and kitchen, so both parties can have privacy.
