The Space

Thank you for considering a stay with us ! Its always humbling to be just a small part of the planning of vacation trips, so WELCOME and we look forward to sharing our island lifestyle with you ! (Note calendar does fill up but look to the right under "other listings" for the full cottage and Bamboo Studio !) All have private kitchens, entry and parking etc.

North Shore Maui is a great launching point for many activities, including Twin Falls 10 minutes away, whale watching, surfing, sailing, hiking or just relaxing on one of the longest sandy stretch of beach in Hawaii at Baldwin Beach Park, just to name a few.

The Guest House/farm stay is a private entry 2 room addition to our long term rental. Features include natural stone bath, its own sitting deck and spectacular views. Awesome sunrise and sunsets and at night, starry nights filled with shooting stars.

This unit includes mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot,tea kettle, toaster oven and basic dishware and utensils. Outside on the covered deck is a newly constructed counter with sink and outdoor gas camp stove. A cooler and beach towels are provided in each room.

There is a Queen sized bed in the main bedroom and a single set up in the front/living room so sleeps 3 comfortably. The bathroom is accessed through the main bedroom. Please note we have a strict no smoking policy. Candles and incense are also not allowed due to safety and health reasons.

There are many great walking trails both above us and below us, check with me and I'll get you pointed in the right direction. The infamous Jaws surf spot, Ho'okipa Beach and Twin Falls is located within a short distance. We are approximately 13 miles/25 minutes to/from the airport.

Truthfully, we know how important vacation time is in our busy careers and families, and so we go the extra for our guests by encouraging our "On-Call" texting service to steer you in the right direction so you can tap into the often overlooked behind the scenes activities, whether its attending a Maui Arts and Cutural Center activity to a free booking at the Nature Center's Endangered bird sanctuary up in Hosmer's Grove at Mt. Haleakala, we've done it all. The previous guest feedback pretty much tell the underline woven story of the adventures that have come through our hill top place.

A final note we'd like to add is that we are located on a tropical island so bugs, insects and such are common every where even in the resort and condo areas, though we do our best to eliminate them or keep them at bay.

Come, relax and reconnect, sleep in and take nature walks, gentle conversations on life and redirection!

  • We stayed in the guest house for 8 nights, it is a very welcoming space, with all the comforts of home. The lanai, where we spent our early mornings and nights allowed us to enjoy the north shore breezes, during breakfast and/or dinners while enjoying the view of the luscious garden.
Randy and April are the most accommodating hosts, and their pride for their place can be seen on every corner of the property.
This has been the most relaxing and peaceful vacation we ever had.
Thanks Randy and April for sharing your piece of paradise we us. We will come back.
    Mahalo !!
(Did I mention how peaceful the place is?)

  • Here is another wonderfull place to stay. Our host April was awesome! I would like
to thank her once more for supplying breakfasts for out time there (homemade banana bread and freshly squeezed orange juice from her trees). With her, we also had a great connection, like we knew each other before!
    Everythig was great and comfortable.
Another place were we would surely go back.

  • This was a great location after spending a week in Kihei. Randy, we missed meeting you, but April was a wonderful hostess. Because of wet, windy weather and mosquitos, it was difficult to use the deck as we had envisioned. Next time will will likely book the cottage.

  • What a beautiful experience! Our hosts Randy and April couldn't have been more gracious. Mahalo April for the yummy banana bread and fresh squeezed orange juice was da best.

If peace and serenity is what you're looking for, this is the place. I liked that it was close to Haleakala and Hana, we actually did both in the same day.

Look forward to our next adventure. While it worked for 3 of us, we'd definitely suggest 2 at a time in this unit. The cross breeze was perfect.

    Response from Randy ~ April:

Huge ... Huge blessing to have Shanti and Harriet come this way ! not only did they take fine care of the place we truly connected well from day 1. and they graciously gifted me with the opportunity to provide Hawaiian Healilng art of Lomi Lomi 2 hours for each of them while they stayed. Thank you so... so much for all that you both radiate in joy and gratitude ! You are most certainly one of my most favorite connecting points to date !

    sigh .... Randy

  • This is a perfect place to stay if you enjoy privacy and peace. We really loved it. The outdoor kitchen is perfect. While having your meal on your hudge very privet deck you will enjoy the beautiful scenery and singing birds. The town of Pa'ia is located a short drive from there. You will find there many shops, cafes and restaurants. For grocery shoping we recomend Mana Foods. You will have a hard time to find a better food store on Maui. If you plan to do the road trip to Hana, the Haleakea volcano or do some surfing, Olinda Bonsai Guiest House is in a perfect location.
Thank you, April and Randy, for the great time we had at your place!

About
We are the only designated Airbnb "Superhost" on the island of Maui operate as a self employed family who own and operate Olinda Bonsai & Ornamentals. It was a dream that we would someday have a farm-stay where people can come and stay and have the opportunity to be immersed in the art of bonsai. We are proud parents of 3 great kids. Two are away at college and one still in high school, so with all this plus the love and care for all our (small and friendly) dogs, cat, rabbits and, we keep pretty busy! In addition to keeping busy with the bonsai nursery, we also are importers of ceramic pottery and stock the stores here island wide. I am laid back, enjoy working in the yard on our extensive landscaping and totally enjoy connecting guests to what makes Maui a unique place. The beauty of Maui is one thing, the people here really make it special! Come as a guest, leave as a new friend you have on Maui!
