Absolutely wonderful experience to stay at Marcia and Richie Brooks home. Prompt response to any personal need and request, very clean house, great location and family-like home environment made my short visit very pleasurable.
More over - breakfast is included, room and bed are very comfortable, full package of TV programs, private bathroom is spacious and equipped, nights are quiet, neighborhood is safe , parking spot for car.
Will recommend to all of my colleagues and friends.
Nice area and a beautiful house.
Marcia and Richard were nice and friendly.
The room was nice and clean.
We had a nice stay but too bad that the wifi didn't work when we were there.
I recommend this place.
Marcia pick us up from the bus station, filled us in on Ocho Rios, the taxi's and the restaurants. The house was just as lovely as the ads show and the area was safe, close to downtown and provided the experience of living local just as we sought. Breakfast varied and we got the chance to decide what time we had it. Hot water, cable tv, and internet, not to mention that Marcia and Richard provided rides downtown whenever we were going at the same times, and Richard being a licensed tour guide gave us a ride and waited for us when we went to Dunns River Falls, for a reasonable fee. We spent a total of 72 days in Jamaica and the 21 days we spent with the Brooks were the most enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying with Marcia and family if you are going to Ocho.
I really enjoyed my time over there. Marcia and her family were very nice and made me feel welcomed and home. I felt safe. The place is well located as it's close to everything. What I love the most is that Marcia and her husband were very useful as they know their island well. I would recomment this place to anybody who wants the jamaican feeling.
When i arrived in ochi i was quiet homesick. But marcia and rich made my stay just wonderful. They are so lovely and i can highly recommend to stay at their house. Thanks for making me feeling like home! Big hug
I just returned from an amazing stay in Ocho Rios, where my boyfriend and I stayed with Marcia for five nights. Staying with Marcia and her Husband, Richard, was like being home with family. From the time they welcomed us into their home with a heartfelt "welcome home", to the time we departed, we felt comfortable and safe.
Their home is in the community of Content Garden, which is a neighborhood off of the main road in Ocho Rios. It does not have a “resort” feeling if that is what you are looking for! We were looking for an authentic experience.
Their home is lovely and welcoming. The description and pictures provided in the ad are 100% accurate. Our room and bathroom were very clean. We were given a key to lock our room and a key to the house so we could come and go as we pleased (we never locked our bedroom door as we felt it was not necessary). We were provided with a private room with a queen sized bed, a private bathroom, a light breakfast each morning, and, most importantly, with the invaluable experience of "LIVING LIKE A LOCAL". We were encouraged to use the living room, kitchen, refrigerator, and porch overlooking the neighborhood and playing field.
Marcia and Richard are proud Jamaicans who love their country and relish in the opportunity to share it with visitors. They gave us sightseeing tips, keyed us into the best spots to visit, gave advice as to the best local restaurants, and provided guidance as to how to navigate the sometimes confusing roads of Jamaica. Marcia and Richard were respectful of our privacy but were truly excited to share their home with us.
Marcia's husband, Richard, is a private tour guide (Ocho Rios Excursions), so he was able to give us "inside information" as to where to go, what to do, what to see! He was also available to provide tours or shuttle services to guests upon request.
In the evenings, we sat on the porch together having a beverage and discussing all sorts of topics (from Jamaican history, to family, to work, to government, healthcare, to jokes... very stimulating conversation)! We learned so much about Jamaica, its history, and how its residents live.
Marcia and Richard welcomed us into their home like family. The experience of staying with this family as opposed to a resort or hotel was amazing, and one that we will not soon forget. The value we received was truly immeasurable; if you choose to spend time with Richard and Marcia, you have already received more than you paid for!
Live like a local, be part of the family
MUST. STAY. THERE.
Seríously, staying with Marcia and her husband Richard provided me with the best memories I‘ll take back home from my two weeks in Jamaika. There’s is not a little thing i remember that was not perfect. From being picked up at the local bus station and having a welcome beer on their porch through to my neat and very clean apartment and bathroom.
Marcia’s house is located in a very nice, quiet and safe neighbourhood off the main road in Ocho Rios. My room was on the ground floor with wifi and cable tv working perfectly. I had my own bathroom and towels, key to the room etc. were provided. Still I did not stay at my room a lot since i preferred sitting with Marcia and her lovely and heartwarming family on the porch in the first floor of the house having some of the best conversations i can remember.
During my three days with them, i truly lived like a local and I feel that I had an authentic experience of the real jamaica. Even more than that i felt like part of the family. An experience which I will never forget.
Furthermore, Marcia’s husband Richard is a private tour guide and i have to say that this turned out to be another big plus of choosing to stay with Marcia and her family. He was not just able to provide inside information but i booked him for two tours which turned out to be two of the most amazing days in my life.
All in all you can say: This place is something special and Marcia and her family love people. If you do so too, I highly recommend you stay with them whenever you come to Ocho Rios
I know that whenever I’ll be going to visit Jamaica again I’ll be coming back home. I will highly recommend this place to all of my friends.
I am a proud Jamaican, and have worked in tourism for over twenty years. My husband and I are now tour operators who take guests who visit our country all over the Island. We are very patriotic and love to show off our beautiful country. We love to meet people from all over the world where we can share culture and other interest. Love reggae music and eco-tourism.
