We bought & completely renovated our home in 2012. It's ideal for a family of 4/5, but you could squeeze in more if necessary.
There's a huge 3m long dining table, so you can even have friends over for dinner. Limhamn is Malmo's prettiest area.

Description

The Space

We bought & completely renovated our home in 2012. It's ideal for a family of 4/5, but you could squeeze in more if necessary.
There's a huge 3m long dining table, so you can even have friends over for dinner. Limhamn is Malmo's prettiest area.

A house in the beautiful old fishing village of Limhamn, on the western end of Malmö. The house was completely refurbished to the highest standards in 2011/12.

IMPORTANT NOTE: we prefer not to have smokers. Sorry. we find that even if the smoker goes outside to smoke, the smell still gets inside and stays in the house for months. If one of your group is a smoker, please do not apply. Thanks

PLEASE NOTE: the street is *PEDESTRIANS ONLY' so the street view van couldn't drive down it, so the streetview shows the neighbouring street, Idrottsgatan, not our street.

As residents, you are allowed to drive on the street.

The house is an 8 minute drive from Malmö Arena/hyllie station from where the trains go to Copenhagen central and copenhagen airport every 20 minutes.

The area: Gamla Limhamn (Old Limhamn) is the prettiest of Malmös old town villages, with lots of winding streets of pretty old houses. There are plenty of restaurants (but not so many bars - for proper partying you can walk (30 mins) or bus (7 mins) to the centre of Malmö There's a supermarket, a systembolaget (for alcohol) and many other shops 3 minutes walk from the house.

Central Malmö is a 6 minutes drive away, so it's easy and quick to get back after a night in town.

Busses (No. 4 and No. 32) to Central Malmo and to Malmo Arena/Hyllie leave every 6 minutes. The bus stops are approx 150M from the house.

There are four bedrooms, with space for two in each.

There is also a private car parking space directly next to the house.

After we hand over keys and show you around, you won't see us till the end of the stay.

You can be in Denmark within 20 mins of leaving the house.

The Neighborhood

Limhamn is an old fishing village to the south west if Malmö. It's a 15 minute cycle ride to central malmö.
It is the only suburb that has its own thriving high street and community.
Nice restaurants, cafes, bakeries, cheese shop, several clothes shops, pharmacy, supermarkets, a fish smokery, a library, the all important systembolaget, there's a dvd hire shop, two thai, two japanese, one spanish, two italian restaurants. The quality of these places is of course varied, but they're mostly pretty good.

There's a 24hour gym and they sell day passes so you don't have to become a member.

There is a pretty harbour and beach area with a small kallbadhus, a sauna built on a pier over the sea. The idea is that you heat yourself up to crazy temperatures in the sauna, then plunge into the freezing (in winter) sea and then back into the sauna again. It's not my cup of tea, but the oldies that go in there look about 100 years old, so either they know something I don't, or they're actually in their 40s and this crazy nordic practice is taking a heavy toll on their bodies.

Limhamn has lots of pretty, narrow streets of old fishermens houses and is a nice place to wander around.

Getting Around

Trains from Hyllie to destinations around Sweden, Denmark and beyond.

Three local buses will take you to the local hubs, from where buses and trains go all over scandinavia.

We have three adult bikes, one with child seat and a selection of kids bikes.

Ask us for the phone numbers if the cheapest taxi companies. Some are horribly over priced. Most journeys within the Malmö area should cost no more than 130 sek.

There is a car hire place near by. I've never hired a car locally so i don't know about costs.

Closest airports are
1. Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH) which is a 10 min train ride from Hyllie (which is a 10 min bus ride away.
2. Malmö Sturup (MMX) which is a 27 minute drive or about 55 mins by bus

House Rules

This house is our home, so we trust it would be treated accordingly.

No smokers please.

We don't just mean no smoking, but no smokers. This place is our home and we don't want it to smell of smoke when we come back. Even if you go outside to smoke, the smell sticks to you and then sticks to the house for months. Sorry if you think this is a bit extreme but we get to make the rules and we're really tough in this one.
